  1. I REALLY REALLY hope we use him right. I want him EVERYWHERE. Get that man the ball and let him work. I dont want to stick him opposite Mclaurin and expect him to run 4 routes and be effective. As frustrating and vanilla that last season was, I liked some of the aspects of how Sims was used. Jet sweeps, reverse, bubble screen, KR/PR, Slot, X, Y... ALL of it. Move him around and get matchups.
  2. https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/redskins/adrian-peterson-gifts-his-historic-touchdown-ball-terry-mclaurin and to go a step further https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/redskins/terry-mclaurin-quote-tells-you-everything-you-need-know-about-kind-player-he
  3. Mark Sanchez at QB you score to take the lead 13-10 on a 90 yard run and Peterson ends up with 9 carries for 98 yards and you lose 28-13... my god that was bad.
  4. give me 15 games, 200+ carries and 900 yards any time.... most likely gets 1k if Gruden isn't the head coach through 5 weeks having AP inactive week 1 and no more than 12 carries over weeks 2-5
  5. We are going to find ourselves in a very bad situation if AP is not on this team this year. I can't bring myself to bet on Guice, Love, or Gibson to this point. AP needs to be here, i'm sorry. i also think you're selling him short. Bill Callahan was our HC so every single team we were coming up against knew that we were running the ball. AP still averaged 4.3 ypc and had 0 carries over 40, and 6 carries over 20, so it's not like his average is inflated by a handful of long gainers. Hard for ANYONE to break big runs when the box is stacked like that. To put into perspective, Guice had a 60 yard carry. Take that one away and his AVG was 4.51... right on par with Peterson. Guice had 42 carries to AP's 211. Guice has the ability to be game breaker, but Peterson isn't exactly Matt Jones with the '2 to 3 yards and that's it' that you want to reduce him to.
  6. Funny you mention it.. Rizzo has done this for years and has faced some serious scrutiny for it, now he looks like a genius.
  7. have you seen Goodwin's numbers? lol. OOF.. He forgot who he was...
  8. there were reports they tried to buy dan out and he dug his feet in. Its possible they were trying to do something about it and Dan just wont let go, and their next plan of action was to get out... or at least leverage their 40%
  9. I believe any touching that is not welcome can't be considered assault... but in the article the other 14 young women were speaking in anonymity. I don't think any charges will be filed at this point, so as of now it's just hearsay. If charges were being pressed, it likely is a completely different conversation.
  10. Dont forget there has been an owners meeting called together, reportedly to go over the policies of the upcoming year regarding the covid situation.. but you wonder if that's actually the case, or if this whole thing is going to end up being a topic.
  11. I was just referencing the fact that the same 'conflict of interest' is already happening with the current team. Snyder owned Red Zebra when it became the radio station that covered the team.. Not much different than Bezos owning the Post and the Redskins... Reading your post a bit more i get what you're saying. If Bezos wants the team and his publication just HAPPENS to be the one that breaks the story forcing the team to then come available.. it would make you wonder the validity of the information. It's very possible that the delay is because of just that. They need to be 100% sure and they need lawyers and everyone else to go through it to make sure it doesn't come back as anything other than factual reporting, not a smear campaign.
  12. https://www.si.com/nfl/redskins/news/jeff-bezos-wants-into-the-nfl Bezos owns the Post, he moved to DC, and he's been apparently vocal about wanting to own an NFL franchise. There are not many NFL teams up for sale right now, and the Redskins may be the next one to come available.. that happens to be in the town he lives in.. Dots are being connected.
  13. Not at all. We're talking about a complete culture change at the park with the head still intact.. No GM has been named. Now you have 2 MAJOR front office members dismissed, and a Sr VP who is the 'Voice' of the team retires out of left field. No information or team statement regarding ANY has come out regarding members of the team for over a decade... Allen gone, Hess gone... now on the verge of a name change? There is WAY too much going on for the only piece of real information coming out of the park to be a 2 paragraph statement saying that the team name will be retired and changed at the conclusion of a review...
  14. What is the point of signing AB? He's currently ALREADY facing a suspension so if we bring him in he's likely to ALREADY miss the first 8 weeks of the season. He doesn't even have to mess up and the first half the season is lost for him. This was posted on July 2nd... You bring him in, he doesn't touch the field til potentially week 9, and you're taking reps away from the young bucks on a team who isn't AB away from contending. We're likely AT MINIMUM not close til 2021, and that's if EVERYTHING breaks right.. We should not be looking at spending any real money on any players that we don't think can contribute for the next 3-5 years. Bringing in a Vet is a necessity now, but not someone who's going to challenge for the no 1 WR spot unless we believe they can do so long term. Bring in Jarius Wright, Demaryius Thomas, Chris Hogan.. fine as long as they're not expensive. They can help stabilize the meeting room and two of the three have succeeded at the highest level. They won't push Mclaurin for his spot, and likely would be our 3rd or 4th WR for the next 2 - 3 seasons. Vet leadership in a young group..
  15. Every corporate ownership change i've ever experienced includes the moves we've seen over the last week. I don't know that Snyder is out but there have been A LOT of changes to people who have been with the organization for more than a decade... Usually there are some shock terminations, as well as some surprise retirements. I dont know if Snyder is next, but i would appear he's the last one standing.. Then again, a major scandal could also explain the departures... which could ultimately result in an involuntary change in ownership...
  16. I THINK he was talking about Sims from the convo a few pages back
  17. http://www.draftscout.com/dsprofile.php?PlayerId=1006399&DraftYear=2019 Steven Sims Jr., DS #98 WR, Kansas Name: Steven Sims Jr. College: Kansas Number: 11 Height: 5-09 Weight: 184 Position: WR Pos2: Class/Draft Year: Sr/2019 40 Low: 4.50 40 Time: 4.56 40 High: 4.61 Projected Round: Stock: High: PFA Low: Tryouts This is the only 'official' listing of a 40 time i've ever found of him... and if you listen to the clip of the interview Keim had with David Robinson on Friday, he actually references the fact that Sims doesn't have that 4.3 type speed. What sets him apart is he's running 4.5 speed THROUGH his routes because his feet are so quick. Most WRs cant maintain that level of speed through cuts and change of direction, but Sims is unique because he can, allowing him to really create separation. . https://thesportsdaily.com/2019/08/06/undersized-and-underrated-steven-sims-jr-talks-about-his-mission-to-make-an-nfl-roster/ This article he kind of mentions he doesn't have 4.3 speed, but he has the ability to do it through his route. I also agree with @HTTRDynasty that Sims plays faster than he tests. Don't get me wrong, I'm a BIG Sims guy. I like him and I am excited with what he can do. 4.5 is still really fast, and it's even faster when he's between the hash marks and he's running against LBs and Safeties. He's blowing by people because of how fast he changes direction, as well as how fast he gets to top speed. Watch the first actual highlight with the catch vs Dallas. He is able to pivot and explode up the middle of the field, then gets caught from behind. 4.3 speed doesn't get caught from behind. Tyreek Hill and Desean Jackson don't get caught here. Again, this is not a detriment to Sims, just an understanding of his talent. He's really good at changing direction, he's got high level burst. He's got plus vision, and he's absolutely got a place in this league, likely in the slot. These things coming together are why I want to see us move him around and find different ways to get the ball in his hand in space. I originally mentioned a Tyreek Hill type, but maybe more of a Percy Harvin.
  18. Yeah maybe not the best apples to apples comp. I did say Kareem Hunt style with a more shared workload. I don't want him carrying the ball 272 times. I do agree that i want to see him be what we all wanted Chris Thompson to be... i don't think we used him the right way nearly often enough. Gibson is another guy I want in space. Something I wanted to see, but never go to, was multiple-rb sets. I'm dreaming of Haskins flanked by Guice and Gibson on 3rd down. The attention needed to be devoted to the backfield COULD be something scary... Gibson will obviously have to become a weapon, and he hasn't done anything... yet. Plus Guice will need to be healthy. That all said, defenses could seriously have trouble diagnosing who to focus on. Mismatches, mismatches, mismatches. That's the name of the game.
  19. I agree completely, i don't think he IS Tyreek Hill, i just want to use him that way, not confining him to just the slot. I agree, i wouldn't mind him shifting him back into the backfield to get him isolated on an MLB, but i think Gibson is likely going to be that guy. Sims strikes me as someone who has really good vision, real quick feet, and gets to top speed very fast. He may not have 4.3 speed, but if he's able to get to 4.5 speed faster than the defender, and stay at 4.5 speed longer, then it can really create some space and options. I went back and looked at his highlights a little bit and the game vs Chicago we ran a few plays where Sims was basically in the backfield. 1 play he was put in motion, then reversed as he approached the middle of the line and the ball was snapped, he exploded out into the flat and caught the ball with room. There was another play that he was basically lined up as an RB. He also took a jet-sweep to the house in the preseason vs the Pats. That's the kind of stuff i like to see from him. It also will allow us to give Haskins a bit more time if the LBs and DEs have to hesitate knowing that if the ball is going to Sims, it's coming out FAST.
  20. I wouldn't be looking at Sims to stretch the field yet completely... yet, but I don't think it's out of the question https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cDovL2pvaG5rZWltcmVwb3J0LmxpYnN5bi5jb20vcnNz/episode/ZmUzMWMwMzEtMzQ2Yy00MGE0LWFhNDMtM2M1MTM4N2MxYWUw?hl=en&ep=6 Keim had 'WR guru' David Robinson on who works with a bunch of NFL pros and he likes Steve Sims Jr A LOT. Here's the description of the podcast: I really REALLY want us to be using Sims like KC used Hill a few years back, with Gibson acting as our version of Kareem Hunt with a more shared workload. I am very excited about the physical speed we have at WR now. Terry Mclaurin appears to have the talent level to reach ELITE separation skills at this level. I don't think hes there yet, he's still in the really REALLY damn good category. I want to see him used the same way Pittsburgh used Antonio Brown where he played basically all 3 wr positions. I think Mclaurin has the smarts and abilities to execute that. Sims to me is an x-factor. Like i mentioned, a Tyreek Hill type. I want him moved around, put in motion... WR screens, shovel passes, jet sweeps, anything we can do to get him the ball and let him work. He's got really good vision and change of direction. The guy in the Keim piece said Sims may not have 4.3 speed, but his 4.5 speed is very consistent which helps his game speed be better... i'm kind of paraphrasing what I remember when i listened to it yesterday. I hope we really utilize our guys to set up matchups, even for the others. If we can manipulate the defense so that Harmon and AGG are on smaller CBs while slot guys and LBs are trying to keep up with T-mac, Sims, and Gibson.... the mismatches can be awesome for us.
