  1. If you watch the slo-mo replay of Rendon's 2nd home run it gives you an idea of just how fast he is through the strike zone. The replay starts at about 2:09
  2. I'm with ya... you just asked us to change your mind, so i figured i'd give it a shot. There's A TON of factors that going into 162 game regular season... and if everything you mentioned goes WRONG, then we'll really be in a tough spot... but I can't assume everything you mentioned would go wrong. I also can't assume that NOTHING outside of what you listed will go RIGHT. There's likely a handful of things that happen to benefit this team that none of us are even considering.
  3. 1. Eaton continues to slug .388, which is what he did after returning from injury last year. He hit .301 in 96 games last year... .297 in 23 games the year before. I don't care if he bunt-singles the ball every at bat, if he's hitting .300 i'll take it. I just need him on base. 2. Soto's high GB rate turns him into a GIDP machine. https://www.fangraphs.com/spraycharts.aspx?playerid=20123&position=PH/PR&type=battedball&ss1=2018&se1=2018&cht1=battedball&pos1=ALL&vs1=ALL The highest concentration of ground balls are to the right side. He understands hitting, so he'll likely be grounding BEHIND the runner. With Turner / Eaton / Rendon ahead of him there is speed, and it's already coming out of camp that there will be a bigger emphasis on baserunning. I'd imagine with Turner and Eaton wanting to run more, as well as the idea of aggressiveness (possibly with Hit and Run), a good number of GIDP will be helped. He's also hitting behind 2 base stealing players, and a guy in the 3 hole that loves hitting doubles. Double plays chances will be mitigated there as well. 3. Robles low exit velocity turns him into Mallex Smith He's the kind of guy who needs to put he ball in play and let his physical ability win out. Same with Trea Turner. I don't need him hitting with a high exit velo because I want him putting it in play. He'll get his chances to hit the ball... hard... You can't dig out an infield pop up.... 4. Rendon gets hurt, produces like 2015 Anyone can get hurt... he could also produce like 2016 / 2017 / 2018. Which is more likely? Reverting back to 2015 or maintaining what he's done over the last 3 seasons. .270 or better (.300 or better in 2 of those), 20+ HRS, 85+ RBIs,.... 5. Dozier does not return to form He's likely a luxury stop gap anyway. This just opens the door sooner to Kieboom 6. Adams has a 2nd half of last year, all year Adams has a 1st half of last year... all year... this applies to no. 7 too. 7. Zimm gets hurt, produces like 2016 See above 8. Kendrick's achillies is a bigger deal, cannot recover He's like out 5th outfielder, and our 2nd (soon to be 3rd) infielder. 9. Corbin is a contract year wonder 10. Strasburg FB never returns, ends up like Harvey--just not as douchey 11. Scherzer finally start to dec...I can't finish that sentence, it's too painful ^^^^ My bet is that these 3 things don't all happen... or at least i'd bet against the odds that all 3 happen in the same season. Scherzer is human, but last year he was right there in the conversation in all measurable statistics. 12. Bullpen has a nightly, walk-filled meltdown outside of Doo. Their walk rates scare the crap out of me How? We just let go of Solis and we havent even seen what Rosenthal is going to be like in a regular season capacity. Barraclough has a career 1.30 WHIP. 13. Gomes/Suzuki regress badly, hit like Wieners. Not a typo. Or they dont.... 14. Turner knows his favorite player is leaving, becomes Spiderman full-time (seriously, he looks EXACTLY like Tom Holland!) Rendon isnt leaving... yet..
  4. Yeah but i've seen pitchers get walloped because they're working on a pitch and throw it with frequency that you wouldnt see in a regular circumstance. The MASN coverage is terrible. I've only been able to watch about 30 min of a game... the Nats just aren't on TV. Side note... was not aware Weiters had signed with the Cardinals.
  5. Corbin with 5 hits allowed through 3 innings? I'm just checkin the box score so i have no context of it, god forbid they actually broadcast the game.
  6. like I didnt spend enough time on this board... now this thread pops up....
  7. 😎 You know our industry... the work is never done....
  8. Not from what i've encountered. Dirty fluid (at your mileage interval) SHOULD not effect the performance directly. The dirty fluid COULD be a symptom, not a cause. Generally the performance of the transmission based on fluid breakdown, is not noticeable until well after the fluid change interval.
  9. MOST shops are capable of doing transmission fluid flushes, but a lot of them elect to send customers to the dealer due to the 'fragile' nature of the transmission. WS fluid is a very common trans fluid in the asian world. its used in MULTIPLE applications. Toyota can sell you the fluid, as well as a brand called Aisin. Part number ATF0WS As far as the specific temperature, the transmission needs to be at optimum idle / running temperature so that the fluid LEVEL is measured when the fluid is at the 'thinnest' viscosity. Oil's (much like the grease in a pan) are thinner at high temperature, and thicker at lower. This way the transmission fluid level is measured at what level it will be while the vehicle is running / driving. It's not difficult to check the clarity of your fluid as long as the transmission has a dipstick. I was thinking the same thing. 36k in 5 years is actually very low regarding AVG per year, so i dont see why it would be at a level of dirty that would be recommended to service.
  10. One thing about Soto that could help that sophomore slump, is how disciplined he is at the plate. The most consistent praise I heard about him last year was his plate vision as a rookie. That he was so good at seeing pitches. Even if he has a step back in hitting, he's not going to likely be seeing the ball any differently. Hopefully that helps him overcome that possible down tick.
  11. Yeah I looked and that's the same day we sent Zimm to the DL. That was the corresponding move. I believe that's what forced our hand.
  12. Harper got called up April 27.. I believe Benning is right, that we held him back. I think it actually turned into controversy, because the concern was going to be that Harper would get frustrated knowing that he was only being sent down in order to manipulate the contract, and that he had done enough to start the season with the big club.
  13. I agree... The bottom line is we need to win baseball games though. If they think Robles is the better option to win baseball games, he needs to be up. if the idea is that MAT will produce similarly across the first month of the season, and Robles will be grooming up... i agree with it. We all know that wins in April count just as much as they do in August, especially with the idea that a wildcard game is a single game elimination. This is likely going to be a nasty division, so we need to win all year. I understand the long term thinking, and I respect it and agree with it, unless it's COSTING you games.
  14. This seriously has the possibility of being the first major piece of a serious rivalry. If we have multiple meaningful games / series while he's there... I could see them becoming our top rival for many years.
  15. And shows up to a Flyers game wearing a Knights jersey
  16. Agree on the first point. I do wish we would have taken that trade, but I don't think the current brass was the one that made that call. I think that was Ted, and for all intents and purposes, it appears Ted isn't pulling the strings. He used his ownership card there and it was a poor decision. I agree on the long reliever. A good long reliever can change the dynamic of a season with no REAL statistical proof. It may mean he eats up 4 innings in a losing blowout effort, which allows your 7-8-9 guys to be saved for the next day when they have to come in and preserve a 2-1 win. It also could be that same guy coming in when you're losing 6-0 in the 1st inning, and the offense rallies and wins the game 10-8...
  17. Sign Keuchel and move Hellickson into a long spot? Similar to what we did with Roark? Hellickson is very good 2 times through the lineup, and he would also serve as injury insurance in the event that you'd need another starter? Spitballing here.
  18. Let him? Would you have preferred to go til NOW without knowing what was going on and him still possibly leave?
  19. its just frustrating to me. I actually think were in a better position than if he had accepted the offer... just why did it have to be Philly?
  20. it literally came down to highest total $$ amount. The sad thing is his endorsements will completely blow away the salary...
