  1. Yeah, it's about saying it while wearing the uniform while he was acting in an official capacity. Lots of businesses restrict what you say publicly when you are representing them. I have to be somewhat careful in my postings on social media with my current job. Even moreso if I am posting or communicating not on a personal account, but on my company letterhead. I bet that's true for a lot of us. Just yesterday, a reporter from the Washington Post was suspended for a month for retweeting something. That something called into question their objectivity as a reporter and made the company look bad. The fine Del Rio received is actually not only pretty normal it's pretty tolerant for a multiple time offender.
  2. One thing to consider when asking, "Is Terry that good?" is Terry has been really good when surrounded by iffy teammates. Defenses know that he's the only receiver they have to key on. Terry hasn't had a QB able to maximize his abilities. With a better cast and a better QB (We may have that now if Dotson lives up to the hype and Samuels is healthy), does Terry move up one rank? Two ranks? Does he go from a receiver everyone talks about to one of the very top end of receivers? There's a little bit of a gamble in projecting what Terry will look like with Wentz vs. Smith and Heinike, but the fact that he has become a nationally recognized great receiver despite everything else should not be ignored. More, rewarding your best is how you build culture. It's how you build your team. The only reason not to get this contract done is because Terry wants out or Snyder can't afford it. Barring that, trying to rationalize the Front Office's failure in getting this done as part of player analysis and team construction is in my opinion wrong. Moreover, in the NFL, prices go up not down. Just a few years ago, this team was going crazy about the idea of giving Kirk Cousins a twenty million dollar a year contract. That was a top five contract. Today, it's a damn cheap contract for a starting QB. Unless the league flips and becomes a running league again, the prices of wide receivers aren't going down.
  3. I honestly think his hope was for things to go completely out of control so he could declare Marshall law. After that, I think he would have attempted to enshrine himself as dictator for life similar to the men he admired.
  4. I do think it likely that the Republicans win back the House and maybe the Senate. Gerrymandering, changing voter laws, inflation, supply shortages due to the mismanagement of Covid and other factors all lead to that conclusion. I also think the Republicans strategy of opposing everything that could possible benefit the American people no matter how popular with the American people will sadly prove an effective strategy. BUT What in the world does that have to do with this thread?
  5. But you probably have to be a Trump fan to believe the election was stolen. Look at what we know: Every court challenge failed Guiliani admitted before a judge there was no fraud Bill Barr said he looked and found no fraud and that the allegations of fraud are bull**** Ivanka Trump said there was no fraud that company that promised to find fraud in Arizona and got access to everything couldn’t find any fraud in fact, the only cases of proven fraud were done by people fraudulently voting for Trump.
  6. The protecting issue is like hardening schools and arming all teachers. It's sleight of hand. Besides, it's another side of the "free speech zones" idea that the right occasionally likes to push. Remember when they said, "They should not be allowed to march because it interferes with traffic!" "They should not be able to protest in public places, because no one should have their lunch disturbed." "They should not be able to protest in front of homes because a protest that is heard may be listened to!"
  7. This has been debunked, I believe. The people with the authority to call the National Guard include the President and the Secretary of Defense. . https://apnews.com/article/fact-checking-235651652542 CLAIM: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi blocked the National Guard from coming to the Capitol during the Jan. 6 insurrection. AP’S ASSESSMENT: False. As Speaker of the House, Pelosi does not direct the National Guard. Further, as the Capitol came under attack, she and the Senate Majority leader called for military assistance, including the National Guard.
  8. You know, this morning, I’m struck by the fact that I’ve never sought a pardon. I don’t think I know anyone who has sought a pardon. I mean pardons are cool. They’re literally a “Get out of jail free” card, but they’re also an admission of guilt. The fact that several elected congressmen believed they required a pardon due to their treasonous actions should be chilling. They should be removed from elected office. Asking for a pardon is an admission that they broke their oath of office. Why then do I suspect that republicans will just shrug?
  9. I don't think that's fair. As soon as you see the first contract drop, you pretty much know a new NFL floor has been set. That's when you need to get mobilized even if you like to wait. After all, the rule of elites is that each deal must outdo the one previous. So, being the last receiver standing means Terry and Terry's agent expects the biggest contract of them all which is probably why the sides are reportedly "far apart." The Marties are probably working off the plan they developed in January and not the reality of early summer.
  10. My backyard is open. Just not sure we have the fan base to fill it. I mean we’ve had barbecues before where over 20 people showed up.
  11. JDR may become the most highly sought after linebackers coach in the USFL.
  12. It's past time to get Terry done. It should have been done in the spring. I think it still can get done and should get done, but this front office like all Washington's Front Office's is guilty of malpractice.
  13. Going optimistic, I see 12-5. Last year, pretty much everything that could go wrong went wrong and we were a hair’s breath from making the playoffs. Think about it: we lost half the team to COVID, our starting QB who was regarded as a backup lasted 1/2 of one game before getting hurt and making way for a QB that wasn’t highly regarded enough to make a practice squad less than a year earlier. Then, we lost our best tight end, our third down back, our top five centers, our best three pass rushers, and we still almost made the playoffs. If we have half the bad luck we did last year, this is easily a playoff team. That said, I don’t think there’s an OC out there that can’t put-chess Del Rio. Last year, he made Blache look like an innovative wizard. We also don’t know if our DBs will rediscover how to cover and communicate. So, the negative part of me sees 7-10.
  14. I think Roger might. He has before. I don't think Snynder will unless forced.
  15. I really wish we know what was going on behind closed doors. The longer this drags out the more our imaginations darken. Hopefully, they are on the phone every day, getting closer. Hopefully, there is already a handshake deal that they are waiting on for some legitimate reason. If not or if it really is only about liquidity then Snyder if he loves his childhood team needs to bring in partners or sell the team. Mind you, if he loves his childhood team then right now the best thing he could do for it is to sell it for any number of reasons.
  16. Didn't Snyder have some partnership deal going with Tom Cruise at some point? If so, I expect our mascot not to be Tom Cruise riding his Top Gun motorcycle with a hot chick behind him, but the volleyball! Meet your Washington Commanders mascot... Spike!
  17. I'm a little leery of themes: Week 1: Disappointment Week 2: Frustration Week 3: Depression Week 4 Despair Week 5 Resignation Week 6 Let's talk about the 2023 Draft!
  18. Not offering Terry a deal and a good deal is bad for several reasons. First off, I honestly thinks it impacts team morale. I mean if the team won't take care of its best player, of the player it repeatedly says is its best player, than how does any player think the team will take care of them? If this was a one off, then you can say, "Hey, it's the player," but this team has history of not rewarding its best players and letting them walk. Now, we can say that was mostly the last regime although this player technically let both Trent and Scherrf go (I think both were probably the right call btw, but it doesn't matter in this context.) So, the players look around and say, "Trent, best left tackle in the league thrown out with the garbage. Scherrf, "Top right guard and they couldn't get nothing done? Now, Terry? ****! This is a team where you make your name to leave." Now, you can say "Jonathan Allen," but you can also say that Jonathan Allen was the exception that makes the rule.
  19. I agree. When a team goes all in on promoting you and put you on everything and talk you up as one of the major pieces every chance you get... then its on the team to step up. They can't exactly pretend he wasn't their highest priority (or second after getting a QB.) Finish the damn bathroom!
  20. Their offseason is saying very loudly, "We think our team was set minus a QB." I don't think they're right. I think, especially with the departures, we are thin on the oline and at Dtackle (looks better if the draft pick works out.) We also have major question marks at linebacker and safety. I mean even if you believe in Holcomb and Davis what do we have if they falter or get hurt. David Mayo apparently is the starter during OTAs. My understanding was that he was signed as a special teamer and was a liability on defense.
  21. I think Alex catches more of a break because his teams won. Even with the ‘skins, as awful as he was, he led us to our best record in years (6/3). On the other hand, Kirk’s teams always felt like they fell short. That may not be fair, but winning erases stink and changes perceptions.
  22. The thing I found surprising is Kirk reportedly wouldn’t make those throws when being asked to in OTAs or practices either.
