Just How Pass Happy Are The Redskins?

Lets take a look at the run/pass selection by Down & yards to go. It was bad enough after the Steelers game, but now the scales are tipped WAY out of balance. I haven't looked it up but damn if this doesn't make me wonder if the Rams "Greatest Show On Turf" years passed this much. looking at these breakdowns, you'd think this was from a Madden season & not an actual NFL team. I'm curious to see this weekend if the Giants stack the box only when it's 1st & 6-10 to go as that's the only dominate time the Redskins seem to ever run the ball.

You can't have success as a football team if you don't have confidence to be able to get even 1 yard or a 3rd or 4th and short. It's embarrassing. We don't even try to run in the red zone. I would expect us to run a QB draw before any sort of tailback even sniffed the ball if I was the other team in the red zone. And we haven't even done that this year!

This might be what the league has been steering towards, but the decision not to carry a fullback when Scot says he's building a strong, tough,"know you played us" kind of team is baffling. It's basically punting on short yardage runs all together in favor of bubble screens and slants.

First Down: A 2-1 ratio of pass to run. That's okay, we're a passing team.
Second Down: A tad over a 5-1 ratio. That's starting to get a bit too unbalanced, even for a passing team.
Third Down: A ratio of 21-1. HOLY CRAP! That's ridiculous. Even a team with no healthy RBs would rush more than that, This has to be addressed.

Thanks for the breakdown (not the nervous kind). Quite an eye-opener.
