cscmtp
first, i LOVE Portis. Wouldn't trade him for anyone. But this year he seems to have trouble scoring from inside the 5. Is it just me or does he seem to NOT explode when close to the goal line. I mean, watch guys like Alexander, McAllister, and i swear when they are near the goal line, they go to another gear or level, and seem to dive or pound into the endzone with ease. But Portis doesn't seem to ever do that. Its just frustrating sometimes. I'd like to see him dive over, or something.
Art
He's been an ok back for us on the goal line. The problem is on that drive the line didn't block all that well.

Art
There again for Portis on second down, he's got guys on him three yards deep in an instant. It's hard to be a good runner when you have that kind of jailbreak.
Prosperity
Goal line in general has been bad for us. 2 straight goal line stands by San Fran show that. Our O line gets blown up at the point of attack leaving Portis with very little chance at success.
Stone Cold
our ol has to play with more attitude in that area. it's you against them...put your guy on his @ss and look for someone else. oh yeah, size don't matter if you go over the top...someone get portis some "jordans"

cscmtp
i had a hunch Portis was a good back, and its our o-line. Hopefully Jansen will help with that next year. It really is deflating to have the ball that many times inside the 5 and come away with FGs.
Eight
Mike Anderson was used quite a bit in goal line situations in Denver, although Portis did get quite a few.
sjinhan
the problem is the OLine... you can have The Bus Bettis in there and it wont matter when there are two players on you in the backfield as soon as you get the handoff...
DjTj
Portis is a system short-yardage back
