Bozman777
I am getting a little concerned whether or not we will re-sign Freddy. Looking at our salary cap next year it looks like we are going to have to do some major restructuring of contracts or let a "high profile player" go. I would hate to lose Smoooot he is one of those core Redskin guys. I think we all agree Fred is as good as Bailey. Then don't you think Fred deserves Bailey money. 6 yrs..50 mil..18 million dollar signing bonus. If you had to choose between Arrington or Smoot who would u keep?:whoknows:
cfujskins
Yes, unless he demands a Champ-like payday, we wil be able to resign Smoot. Next question. Edit: Im not answering that question. I don't want to create a rift between some of my favorite Redskins
atloldskin
We will re-sign Smoot with a SB of $12+. It is Pierce I am worried about.

Hooper
We'll sign him. Pierce maybe, maybe not. If we don't, let's hope Barrow is 100 percent next year -- that guy was a beast his last year in New York.

NoCalMike
Smoot has a lot of soundbites saying he wants to be a REDSKIN-4-LIFE. So I guess we will see if he puts his money where his mouth is.....
PCRoughrider
If the Colts can afford Manning and Harrison for what they paid, we should be able to afford Smoot and Pierce, easily.

RaleighSkinsMann
the big difference in freds situation is that he actually wants to be a redskin...i think he will get paid...maybe not what hes worth but definitely enough for him to want to stay on the team with two coaches like Gibbs & Williams

Its really going to suck when Freeny's rookie contract expires.....
Fifty Gut
Why don't we cut Barrow and give Pierce a fraction of what we paid Barrow? Sounds perfect. We found a player that can perform at Barrow's level for cheaper.
bricucci
Lets be honest, if Danny Boy wants them, he will sign them. :point2sky

I think this defense could have been better with Barrow in the middle. Not that I am unhappy with the job Pierce has done, mind you.

mookie0720
Smoot is a MUST RESIGN. We can't even talk about not resigning him. If we don't, we have to draft CB in the first round, which once again leaves us with the same holes we have this year.
QBkilla56
Smoot will be resigned. There is no question in my mind.
bulldog
Smoot is one of the visible leaders on the field for this team. He plays hurt and plays well WHEN hurt. Gibbs says he wants to identify a core and then build on that to get back to winning. I think we have seen enough to know that #21 is part of that core If we need a few extra bucks we can trade Gardner and give Chad Morton his walking papers after June 1. What have been Pierce's flaws? Barrow isn't exactly young (35 next season), although I know, he performs like he's still in his 20s.
barry wilburn
Smoot will sign a contract with a big bonus and barely any salary in 05 or 06. The way Snyder does business, he can almost always figure out a way to fit the first year of a contract, it's the long term implications that can bite us... I hope so, but the last time I checked the Colts don't have a 43 mill back-up QB and about 7 mill in dead cap money from bad pick-ups and releases....
