Roethlisberger - Faneca Among Pro-Bowl Ballots

Editor - SteelCitySports.com

November 17, 2004 at 6:00pm ET

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper, with 325,383 votes, leads all NFL All-Stars in balloting for the 2005 Pro Bowl, the NFL announced today. Pro Bowl voting will continue on NFL.com, in stadiums and via wireless text message through Dec/ 19.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning (310,236 votes), the NFL's leader in passing yards with 2,749 and touchdowns with 31, ranks second overall while Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb (300,503), Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens (272,759) and New York Giants running back Tiki Barber (260,568) round out the top five.

The teams will be announced at 7 p.m. (ET) Dec. 22 on the 2005 Pro Bowl Selection Show on ESPN. The Pro Bowl will be played in Hawaii on Sunday, Feb. 13 and televised by ESPN at 7:30 p.m. (ET).

The AFC and NFC All-Star squads are made up of the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group's vote counts one-third towards determining the 43-man rosters that represent the American Football Conference and National Football Conference in the Pro Bowl. NFL players and coaches will cast their votes on December 20-21.

The NFL is the only sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players to determine its all-star teams. It was the first professional sports league to offer online all-star voting in 1995.

Listed below are the top 10 overall All-Star vote-getters and the players with the most votes at each position through November 15:

This guy is the most overrated LB in the league. He hasn't even played this year! Maybe 2-3 games?

Over rated - Yes

But hes played in 7 of the 9 games this year so you cant base your assumptions on his lack of playing.

Griffin should be on the list, I think Springs and Smoot will get a push as well. On offense, well, I think Samuels is having a pro-bowl year again. Bear in mind, these are the top rankings for the positions, there are more slots per position than what is listed.

Sure the Eagle fans are voting, but you don't think the other teams fans are voting? I love how there's excuses why a 8-1 team has more probowlers then a lousy team. You guys really seem confused that there's no skins. Lol, who would you vote for? Arrington? Portis? Brunell? Smoot? Springs? Taylor? None of them are deserving to be on that list.

If anything either Smoot or Springs if not both deserves to go . Right now their stats are the similair , if not better than their peers..

Champ Bailey

G.. 9 .. tckl...34 Forced Fumbles.0..Sacks.. 0 Int..2 Pass Def...3

Smoot

G.. 9 tckl...38 Forced fumbles..2 Sacks..0 Int..3 Pass Def....5

Springs

G.. 9 tckl...28 Forced fumbles..1 Sacks..3 Int..3 Pass Def....2

Adam Archuleta

G.. 9 tckl...56 Forced fumbles..1 Sacks..1 Int..0 Pass Def....1

Antoine Winfield

G.. 9 tckl...53 Forced fumbles..2 Sacks..0 Int..2 Pass Def....5

Ed Reed

G.. 9 tckl...39 Forced fumbles..1 Sacks..2 Int..5 Pass Def....4

I added Winfiield to the list, cause he was 2nd highest rated free agent corner behind Bailey, right now you would be hard pressed to find any other corners in the league playing better than smoot and Springs at this point in the season. As of right now they deserve to be voted. Just because a team has a loosing record doesn't mean there aren't any pro bowlers on the squad

And you don't think there are players with even better stats then them? Like I said, on that list... No Redskin is deserving of being on it. Maybe a player or two proves worthy to make it to the pro bowl, we shall see.
