Mickalino
A Cowboy fan, the first to report Redskin news ?
Whats up with that ?

Hey, tell Marty, that along with Raymer and Alexander, he can take Bennett, Greer, Banks, and all his other pet players

[ March 15, 2002, 01:13 AM: Message edited by: Mick ]
Dale
hehe...

Well, with Alexander spending the past few days out at The Ranch, he's become of interest to us Cowboy fans. Surprised he would get that much guaranteed money considering some of the injury/consistency concerns. Oh well

Most of us in Big D are hoping like heck we bring in Freddie Jones for a look. I'm quite surprised he's only drawn interest from the Cardinals and Bengals in Free Agency so far.
Gamebreaker
Damn, I was hoping he would sign with Dallas. Not only would it be a waste of the Cowboys' time and money, it would give us the opportunity to pay him back for being an overrated bum.
Zen-like Todd
No doubt... Dale, you guys should be ecstatic. As I said before (when this was still at the rumor stage), that's just an ungodly sum to dish out to a player like Alexander.
Skins57
That is freakin crazy money for a guy with 9 catches last year for 85 yards and no TDs, but hey it isn't our cap space
Uptown Skins
They can have 'em for all that money! In a little time, Flemister showed us WAY more that Alexander did when he was here with the Skins.
Brave
Freddie Jones is likely demanding money not often spent on a TE. He would be a coup for Dallas (or anyone else) right now but getting him signed without pushing the cap will be tough. Don't know how many teams with that much room are looking to spend it all at TE before the draft.
Chief skin
Who cares the bum never did live up to the hype
wasn't he suppose to be Turner's Novachek
daustin
Again ... We already have Flem, who's a better tight end than Alexander.

Good-Bye!
Dr. D
Geez,

Alexander? for 15 mil?

that is just looney toons.

why is it folks wanna consistently over-pay for our free-agents?
Carlito Sway
Doesn't Schotty like his TEs to black?

Prediction: Week 3, one block will end up shattering Alexander's ankle. Then Marty will try to convince Seau to give TE another try.

I have no ill will for Marty. This just proves that he's a chucklehead GM, and that Mr. Snyder was right to dump he and the extended family.
Carlito Sway
Oops - unconfortable typo-

Meant to write "TEs to BLOCK", not black.

Sorry y'all.
RySkins
I think the Marty Kool-Aid is spiked in Sand Diego.
bulldog
what did I tell you guys about San Diego?

Marty DID learn something while in DC. That the guys he had chastised for being undisciplined and too soft were actually players he found out he might be able to win with if he had taken a slightly different tack at quarterback and with his draft picks after Smoot.

Alexander could be a 60 catch tight end for Drew Brees.

He could also get hurt and miss the entire 2003 season, that's why giving him even the mid-range bonus of $3 million is a gamble.

But if you are SD and were 1-15 just two years ago, what have you got to lose?
Awesome
what is it with our TE busts, first jamie asher, now stephen alexander. he did show promise, but like westbrook, he always thought he was a much better player than he really was. he did zip under marty, why does he want him so badly? go ahead marty, take him. we'll see who has the last laugh.
oh yeah, ps marty: we would love to work something out with banks while your at it.
hail
fansince62
hmmmmm.....tomlinson, drew breese, alexander...the chargers corner some quality o-line guys and, say what you might, they are going to have a good, young offense down the road.
OrangeSkin
What a joke! Marty would be better served being a general in the military than a GM. He obviously has no clue what he's doing and his stubborness gets in the way of logical thinking. Get a clue Marty!
NavyDave
That is too much to spend on a barely marginal tE.

And Freddie Jones better look at the class of TEs coming out this year and see that the rookies can be had for a lot less
Novato
With that amount of money he got from San Diego he´ll be able to pay for those, back, shoulder, knee, ankle, etc, etc. specialists. LOL
