Skinned
Anyone know why ESPN didn't renew his contract? I have always liked him and he always seems to have the scoop. Are they crazy over Steven Smith? What ever happened to Ric Bucher as well?
China
Maybe he didn't yell enough. Between Dick Vitale and Steven Smith and some of the others you'd think it was yell-o-vision instead of television.
BD
That sucks. He was my favorite basketball reporter. BD
afparent
I liked David Aldridge, but Steven Smith exploded this year as far as time on the TV. I believe Ric Bucher writes for ESPN magazine and shows up sometimes on ESPN. Steven Smith is real hot right now. They both have totally different styles but provide the same info. monkey66
Typical ESPN, feeding the hype machine. Screamin' A is hot right now, but behind all of his screaming is not much substance. Aldridge is a fantastic writer. Maybe he'll come back to the post. Is ESPN any better than MTV these days?
SKINtil8tin
I like David Aldridge. Hopefully George Michael will still have him on Full Court Press.
Hitman56
I met aldridge at the all star game. He has a suprisingly large gut. You can't really tell by the shots they use on tv.
Yomar
Aldridge is my favorite sports reporter. I'm glad he is gone from ESPN, I'll read him no matter where he goes
Skinned
I think he was a local guy too (AU I believe), The DC area dominates sports in terms of our local media going national.
SAMB0
ESPN is retarded. Let go Aldridge, Eisen, and Kellerman.. Pfft Stephen A Smith is unbearable "YOU DO NOT TRADE THE MOST DOMINANT PLAYER IN THE GAME. PERIOD. END OF DISCUSSION"
Saint Joe
I liked Aldridge, but I can't say I'm gonna miss him. And, how can you not like Steven A. Smith. As far as entertainment goes, he is the best basketball analyst on TV, except for Charles Barkley of course. How can you not love his cracks on Rasho Nesterovic, and Michael Olowakandi, among others? SAMB0
Because he yells and he is REALLY annoying. "SKIP WHAT ARE YOU TALKIN ABOUT, ALLEN IVERSON MISSED PRACTICE BECAUSE HE CAN! semiskin
Let's hope comes back to write for the Post either to cover the Wiz or even the Skins. That article he wrote when Gibbs came back sends chills down my spine each time I read it.
gridironmike
Aldridge was professional and reserved. Steven Smith knows what he's talking about, but he is annoying. HOW-EV-AH..

TheDoyler23
Stephen A. Smith is obnoxious and aurally abrasive. As for him knowing his stuff, he ranted and raved about how the NBA finals were 'over' before they had begun becuase the Lakers were going to dominate. jbooma
I hate to break it to all of you but Steven A. didn't replace Aldrige. There was a rumor saying DA wanted to go back to writing in newspapers. I think it was his decision more then ESPN, and he was one of the best writers ESPN has as well. Steven A doesn't write for ESPN just talks
