The Evil Genius
McGahee got injured late in the National Championship game though, right? And he still was a 1st round pick after the injury. Edited January 2, 2022 by The Evil Genius
Momma There Goes That Man
Ok but the season is the season. You never know what might happen. Bowl games are glorified scrimmages that serve no purpose other than making sponsors and espn money, often at the expense and future of the players 1

But do you think in 2003 he'd have been a top 5 pick had he opted out of the College Football National Championship game? I'd suspect that would have effected his draft stock too, especially when no one was doing it. Edited January 2, 2022 by The Evil Genius

Though it's pure speculation as it's merely my unsubstantiated opinion, I would imagine it would have somewhat (though I doubt he would've dropped all the way to 20s). There probably would have been plenty of talking heads going off on competitive spirit and what not. But in my view, they would've been wrong (though a National Championship may be different). There's so much to risk for a near top pick who really has little to no more draft spots to climb. Easy fix is for colleges to share Bowl proceeds with the players imo. More talent may end up staying in college for their final year(s) of eligibility if it’s more profitable than rookie contracts.
The Evil Genius
Yeah, this NIL **** is broken. 20yo college RBs driving Lambos. Wtf. Quote Texas target Jordan Addison visited the 40 acres two weeks ago, reportedly riding around Austin in Bijan Robinson’s Lamborghini and enjoying Raisin Canes. That leaves the critical question: where do you take them to eat if you were hosting a high-priority Texas recruit? https://www.burntorangenation.com/platform/amp/2022/5/23/23137829/bon-roundtable-how-big-is-the-jordan-addison-miss
