nonniey
OK what I don't understand is why the press, coaches or players haven't come out and stated the obvious on the pass interference replay rule. It seems obvious that NFL officiating (or at least the VP of Officiating in New York) disagrees with the ability of coaches to challenge their non calls and won't reverse non calls. They have been sending this message all season and yesterdays example during the Houston/Ravens game couldn't have been more clear that they will not call a penalty due to a challenge (There have been instances, 5 I think, where they will pick up a penalty though). NickyJ
The press has talked about it plenty. https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/new-pass-interference-reviews-lead-to-lots-of-confusion-110819 https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/2019/08/16/the-nfl-now-has-a-bigger-pass-interference-problem-than-it-had-before To report on it more than the usual 'they challenged, it was clear, but it wasn't overturned' is to beat a dead horse. Even a few coaches have complained about it. The reason they don't go any further than what LaFleur said is because players and coaches generally like not being fined. Cooleyfan1993
Why did the nfl even allow coaches to challenge pass interference penalties if they aren’t even going to overturn them at all? I dont see the point in that at all. All it’s doing is frustrating coaches/players/fans even more 🤷🏻♂️

Guess my point is they should be reporting that NFL officiating disagrees with the rule change and has made a deliberate and conscious decision to not enforce that rule. I think it would be better worded "Reporters can't take on the NFL itself and report things that there will never be physical evidence of". Opinion pieces about how the rules suck are one thing, there are plenty out there. But nonniey is saying that the NFL is making a "deliberate and conscious decision". Short of getting a recording where the NFL execs are cackling over how they put into writing that there will never be an overturned call, there is no way to prove it's a fact that the NFL will refuse to overturn 100% of it's calls. (Which is also untrue considering the NFL overturned a call last week or the week before iirc). The way they enforce the rules makes no sense, but there's nothing else for reporters to say about it. Edit: I said "you are saying", but it was nonniey who said it. I'm not paying enough attention today lol
