Fairly certain it's legitimate purpose is to turn relatively standard hip/knee surgery into a life of crippling addiction. Surgery is optional, of course. Not Prince's for using drugs, and not the dealer who sold it to him? Fentanyl is used for end-stage cancer pain treatment, and in hospitals for surgeries.
