Fellow Tailgate-ateers,

My wife's family is flying into BWI tomorrow afternoon for her grandmothers memorial and are in need of restaurant recommendations in the area.

If anyone has a preferred venue near BWI, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Do you need a restaurant for the memorial, or just to grab a bite to eat?

just south of BWI at the intersection of 295/rt 100, there's a huge mall with tons of options including a chevy's and a DuClaw Brewery. There's also a casino there with tons of options.

Just dinner not the memorial itself.  Thanks for the suggestion!

G&M's if you are looking for a seafood type of restaurant, it's pretty popular for it's crabcakes. They also have Italian and American cuisines.

G&M's is good, so is the Olive Tree if they like Italian and/or seafood.

Several have nailed it, G&M, one of the best crab cakes you will ever eat.

As far as G&M's goes?

I'm sorry, but all of you are WRONG!  WRONG! WRONG!

They have gone downhill, big-time.

We used to love the food there, especially the crab cakes, and they are now smaller and have more filler.      The sides are treated as after-thoughts and the ****tails are pricey, and skimpy.    I work nearby, and some of my co-workers have offered the same sentiments.

You're better off at the Olive Tree, right around the corner, or Hella's in Millersville.    I would add Timbuktu, but haven't eaten there in a few years and can't vouch for it.  Romano's, in Glen Burnie, has good food, big portions and they're stuffed oysters are too die for, (I think that the folks who own Hella's, also own Romano's)

Another good restaurant, nearby, is George Martin's Grillfire...it's minutes from BWI, and right around the corner from Arundel Mills.

The old stand-by, Sunset, in Glen Burnie ain't bad either.

Agree G&M has gone downhill.  Timbuktu is a dump, but people still love their crab cakes.

There are a TON of restaurants at A Mills and the surrounding area.  Depends what type of food you like and if you care about the atmosphere/chain restaurant/no chains.

This is like the hamburger thread.  Some people think the best is a Big Mac from mickey d's others select Sunshine gas station.

What are you looking for?

Honestly, I have no idea what my wife's family will be looking for.  I just knew I'd be able to get a list of can't miss sorta places in the area.

Very much appreciate all the options everyone has brought up!

Good to know, last time I ate at G&M was at least five years ago.  Timbuktu is owned by the same people as G&M as far as I know, and we were disappointed when we ate there last year.

We still love Olive Tree, we actually had our rehearsal dinner there.

That's a shame.  I haven't been there in awhile but I remember them having a pretty good crabcake.

My wife ate at G&M yesterday and said it was great.  I ate there a couple of months ago and still thought it was quite good.  My biggest problem there is the parking which gets rediculously full.

We ate their a few months ago and it was mediocre.

A co-worker of mine ate there last Thursday, and said it was just okay.     It's a shame, because we use to love their food, the crab cakes in particular.

If it was just me, I'd chalk it up to maybe the restaurant having an off night, but I've had several co-workers tell me the same thing.   For the prices they charge, I doubt that I'll give them another chance.   I'd just assume spend my money at Hella's, Romano's or Costas...
