Apparently Verizon found log issues on the VPN and did more investigating, and found out he had been looking at cat videos and buying stuff on ebay. Also, he apparently he mailed his RSA key to china so they could log in as him :ols:

Dude is brilliant. He actually had like 5 jobs and was doing this at all of them, pocketing 80% of the salary at each.

To think, all he had to do was set up some sort of bridge at home for his Chinese counterpart to connect through and his employer would've never known what was going on. (I'm not computer network-savvy so maybe this isn't the case?)

Kind of...According to the article he sent the chinese firm his RSA key which is a huge breach. It looks like this:

This allows your remotely access company information over SSH securely. In reality, this is a potencial huge breach. Verizon/us gov noticed during an audit some VPN server discrepancies (probably Chinese IP's coming over the VPN ). This was a pretty ballsy move.
