ixcuincle
There are a few artists which fight the corporate machine but most of them succumb Even Dylan has his music in commercials now. But Tom Waits, he was always against it

Tom Selleck has to be rolling over in his grave. Sorry, using the Magnum PI theme doesn't bother me. It's not that great of a theme song. Oh and by the way, Tom Selleck's not dead. sean_e_b
Oh and by the way, Tom Selleck's not dead. I think he meant to say Tom Selleck's career is rolling over in its grave.
skinswillwin06
The commercial with some top guy at google talking about how Mercedes software can save people's lives pisses me off to no end.

Destructis
I think he meant to say Tom Selleck's career is rolling over in its grave. I knew he is not dead. He is in that cop show now, Blue Bloods or something like that. The point is that they are taking a show that was one of the "guy" shows and turning it into a mascara commercial. Here is a video of the opening theme. Fast cars, helicopters, explosions and now it's a commercial for mascara, turning it into one of the things that isn't a guy thing. CoolUsernameHere
I'm sure that was part of it, but Zeppelin is known to almost never let their songs be used in commercials, movies, video games, etc. I know in order for School of Rock to use The Immigrant's Song, they had to practically beg. mjah
My wife used to make a CD every year called "CarTunes." (Long ago there were these things called "CDs.") It was a full album of songs which had appeared in car commercials over the previous 12 months. Once a song was on CarTunes once, it could never appear on a future CarTunes again. There was never a lack of recognizable tracks to choose from. Inevitably there were some overexposed groaners on there, but also some that would be a surprise when you heard them outside the context of the commercial. Nick Drake, Styx, Trio, They Might Be Giants, etc. It almost made up for the John Mayer, Steppenwolf, Wise Guys, and freakin' The Fixx (GET THE GUN GET IT RIGHT NOW MAKE SURE IT'S LOADED). Teller
Just in terms of sheer stupidity, I hate the one where the dude's phone rings, and the spider pops up on it, and the other dude smashes it with his shoe. 1) Your resolution isn't THAT good. 2) Women (most of 'em anyway ) aren't THAT stupid. 3) If that really happened, it would end with the shoe guy in a bloody heap.
