It isn't that most Christians wouldn't say it, it just that we can only guess how it would be said. The best guess is Yahweh, but again it is just an educated guess. All we know for certain is that we have YHWH. As for everywhere being the land of slavery, it is more that our lives are in slavery to sin and death which Jesus has delivered us from. This is core stuff in Christianity. As for sounding dated, well...I am a follower of a faith with roots that go back at least 3,500 years.
