mojo
If you're going to discuss Jimi performing the Star Spangled Banner, you might as well listen to his best interpretation. The studio version off the "Rainbow Bridge" album. In the studio, he was able to give the song a full orchestral arrangement using only his guitar. It's amazing. Kosher Ham
See, I feel like if people are calling other versions ****izations of the song, than he was the first to do it, so why complain about the others. And why embrace his version. I like the version, but I am not one that holds music as untouchable.
MrSilverMaC
This version of the Anthem is currently #3 overall on my itunes for most played. I also like the Marvin Gaye nba all star game version as well.
Forehead
I think it was appropriate enough for the time and place. I don't care for the version though, especially not the second half where he goes nuts and doesn't follow the song anymore. I'd rather stick with something like the Marvin Gaye version mentioned earlier. Full disclosure, I have never picked up, much less played, a guitar, and while I like some of Hendrix's music, I'm not a huge fan of his the way many are, so that might be clouding my judgement. I could go the rest of my life without hearing this though. I do own the Ultimate Experience compilation, and this always gets skipped.
