Nah man, they would've cut taxes. It would've worked wonders.

:ols: just like that. Yup, that would solve the fact that most American are in credit debt, under water in their mortgages, have no money, and 70% of our economy is consumer driven. How long did it take Reagan to get the unemployment rate down to around 5%?

1989 123,869,000 117,342,000 6,528,000 5.3%

1988 121,669,000 114,968,000 6,701,000 5.5%

1987 119,865,000 112,440,000 7,425,000 6.2%

1986 117,834,000 109,597,000 8,237,000 7.0%

1985 115,462,000 107,150,000 8,312,000 7.2%

1984 113,544,000 105,005,000 8,539,000 7.5%

1983 111,551,000 100,834,000 10,717,000 9.6%

1982 110,204,000 99,526,000 10,678,000 9.7%

1981 108,670,000 100,397,000 8,273,000 7.6%

1980 106,940,000 99,303,000 7,637,000 7.1%

(BTW this economy is far worse than it was in the 1980's, even prior to when Obama took office in 08)

Interesting and good question. I don't really know, I am not sure any of us do. What I believe is the status quo is ultimately untenable. As for the rest of the post, fair enough ( though I wasn't really defending the article and I come from the camp that believes Obama economic approach has been dangerous).

Personally I feel that a return to sustained economic growth and a manageable debt load would be a good status quo to shoot for, it's just really hard to force the bus onto that path in this political climate.

I (hopefully obviously) wasn't talking about you when I said to lay off rather than pointlessly nitpick, just talking in generalities. As far as the strategy being dangerous, so is brain surgery. So is putting out a wildfire. Gotta crack some eggs to make an omelette.

Curious what is the relevant differences between tax cuts and our deficit spending?

I do think my article was better though...thoughts?

You know I was being sarcastic, right? I'm a northern European-style socialist, IMO the higher the taxes the better.

And I'm not so much worried about the unemployment as I am the country's debt load, both national and personal. That's the next economic problem Obama needs to tackle. Unemployment will work itself out to an extent now that the ship is at least heading kinda in the right direction.

I submit that we are not in a recession, this is the new standard of living. I submit that our economy is lucky to be as good as it is given the economic mismanagement of the last decade. I submit that the "prosperity" of 2003-2007 was a pipe dream driven by a pyramid-scheme of unregulated credit. I submit that self-righteous pseudo-conservatives should take notice of just how luxurious and entitled their lifestyles are, quit whining like little ****es and get the **** back to work!

Or a press secretary that calls your most active base crazy and in need of drug testing.......:ols:

I don't even know to what you're referring, but in case you're missing my point like I missed yours, what I'm trying to say is that all the stuff you're saying about me isn't only untrue, but it's actually true about you. Ya know, all the irony talk and whatnot? You're the lemming. You're the one who's already been proven wrong. You're a partisan fool.

Say that after you YOURSELF have been in the workforce for decades. VERY easy to give away SOMEONE ELSES money, maybe you should start with giving away your own first. You know, set a good example and all.

You're right to an extent, that's kinda what I meant by the status quo vs. delay of the inevitable. All the signs say "recession" because recession is a relative term.

Fair enough, but this economy, no matter who would have taken office would have been catastrophic. It's gonna be bad for a lOOOOONG time. As far as the deficit, we can start by actually NAMING things to cut.

I pay taxes just like everyone else pal. You're allowed to be conservative, and I'm allowed to think you're wrong, and vice versa. This has nothing to do with that. This has to do with the idiotic mindset that allows people like you to think this has something to do with that.

Seeing as that you're apparently so wise and experienced, you probably remember a time where you could disagree with someone's politics without being a total jerkoff about it. Because of people like you, and no, I don't mean conservatives, I mean partisan hack douchebags, that time has passed.

We need more revenue, not less spending. And you're absolutely right; no one could have done a better job fixing this. McCain would've probably been about the same, sans the right wing ****ing.

Oh, the rain on wedding day thing has something to do with irony? you may want to refresh your understanding of the word prior to using a non-example to point out how stupid someone is! That, my friend, is ironic.

Of course it is also ironic that someone that is asking for intellectual honesty would use "jerk off to tax cuts" in their opening salvo.

As for the article....I completely disagree with 7, 8, and 9. The first lady's trip in number while maybe not a great idea is no big deal. He promised health care reform and got elected so not sure how that could be a mistake. Other than maybe he did not deliver as much as those that voted for him based on that issue had hoped.

It's completely factual. Has an economic catastrophe occurred? No. Would it have if not for the actions of the Obama administration? Yes.

This is reason enough to ignore this guy. Totally emotional and detached from reality.

First of all, I'm the OG. Second of all, he's a partisan hack. I eat partisan hacks for breakfast. Sorry if you can't differentiate between what different combinations of words mean.

No. You suck.

And you're spamming.

Im sure you do pay taxes, im also SURE you get them right back and THEN SOME at tax time. THAT is not paying taxes. Do not ask someone to do what you yourself have never done. Lead by example....now WRITE THAT CHECK! :D

I don't see how the implication of my opening salvo is anything but intellectually honest, however much you dislike the wording.

And I know rain on your wedding day isn't actually ironic, it's just unfortunate. It's a pop culture reference that I guess sailed right by you.
