Hersh
There is no good news with a spill. Some even say that doing nothing is the best. http://www.miller-mccune.com/science-environment/oil-cleanup-cure-may-be-worse-than-disease-15722/ Good info on lessons learned for Exxon spill in Alaska. It is a long article http://www.eoearth.org/article/exxon_valdez_oil_spill I would imagine the people in the Niger Delta disagree with the "doing nothing is the best" part. twa
And yes, the gulf will recover. Nature will find a way through it. But how long will it take? Depends on what you consider recovered. As far as shrimp and fishing (in the heavily effected area) I would guess two yrs with oysters and other bottom dwellers a bit less clear. Some critters will thrive and others suffer. Each spill and area effected is certainly different,as is the depths involved here. as far as the doing nothing part, that is a recipe for disaster. Efforts to protect the marshes and collect surface oil are certainly worthwhile.
Madison Redskin
Unlike others, I don't base all of my opinions based on how they affect particular political parties. What? How I am supposed to tell whether you are a lefty (anti-big oil) or righty (pro-big oil)?
PeterMP
What? How I am supposed to tell whether you are a lefty (anti-big oil) or righty (pro-big oil)? I'm a left (anti-big oil), and a right (anti-the Obama administrations handeling of the situation) in this case.
sideshow24
It is sad that some people are so blinded by politics that they have written off this oil spill already.

Wrong Direction
Maybe this will bring attention to the pollution coming from the Mississippi to the Gulf? Sounds very similar to the Chesapeake, actually, only larger in scale.
panel
link? Where do you think it came from? Man did not Make oil. That's what I think, Nature has a way for correcting for oil leaks. Some oil leaks (although smaller) have occurred naturally
