I was sure this post was going to be about the explosion on the second oil rig, and how it might affect the analysis of how to safely proceed with deep water drilling in a major fishery. Silly me. The Tris Posted September 2, 2010 Share Posted September 2, 2010 Couple important things to note 1) Moratorium would have been on new wells being drilled, not currently operational ones like the Vermillion 380 2) The Vermillion 380 is in 2,500' of water, half the 5,000' that Deep Water Horizon was in. I was trying to do a "twa" post, complete with extra smiley. I guess it wasn't as funny as I thought it would be. And you are right, of course. I'm sure twa will correct me if I am wrong, but I believe based on our ability to actually directly access it, 2500' might as well be 5000'.
