jnhay
I thought this was going to be about helping disabled homeless people. Why is walking a part of this by the way? I know it's a common thing, but why not just ask for donations?

SkinsNatsFan
Why is walking a part of this by the way? I know it's a common thing, but why not just ask for donations? I believe the idea is to get people outside and, during their walk, think about the people who live out there.
Btubes18
Will be there again this year walking, had a good time last year...Thought it was really ironic last year when all the homeless people were surrounding the street begging for money. spjunkies
I'm normally sleeping at that time on Saturdays plus it's going to be cold so I'll pass.

I wonder how awkward it is to turn a homeless person down when you're doing a walk for them.

Not to akward, since me about 10,000+ other people were all turning them down, haha.
SkinsNatsFan
Will be there again this year walking, had a good time last year. Cool. A few others from ES were there last year. I've taken my family every year for the past 6 years.

SkinsNatsFan
It was a beautiful day and it was a great turnout. The metro was full this morning and 99% of the people got out at the Smithsonian stop. There were thousands there to donate and walk for the homeless. I was also able to get back in time to go to the send off at Redskins Park.
G.A.C.O.L.B.
Damn, I wish I had seen this thread earlier. Me and Who Del participated last year and had a real good time. Pretty decent weather for this too. I think it was a lot colder last year.
polywog999
Survival of the fittest and all. Don't kid yourself, It could happen to you too. No one wakes up one day and says, gee... I think I'll become homeless. Things happen, people lose jobs, evil landlords illegally change locks, plans fall through. Good luck with that survival of the fittest stuff! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for what you and other kind souls did for the homeless. I was homeless once and every little bit of kindness helps. Don't think for one second that the man upstairs does not take notice! Thanks to all the other posters on here and many others who showed up to help also! Thank you! Not to mention how many of the homeless are stricken with mental illness.
