Ambrus
I made a list to compare Jim Zorns stats when he was a playcaller and I compared them to Sherman Lewis's stats after he took over. I took the last 6 games only. Does a playcaller make a difference? Sorry if it is hard to read its hard to create a stat sheet on this. blue collar
I have to admit, the offense isn't clicking, but it does look better under Lewis.
More Complete
It's hard to tell what has made the difference because there are so many variables. That said, it's also hard to argue with almost twice as many points under Lewis.
Warpath11
Wow the total plays are way better we are a pretty good offense when we get close to 65 plays/game.
Campbell's_da_man
Under Zorn, we scored a maximum of 17 points in any given game, but under Lewis, we scored at least 17 in every game Average time of possession speaks volumes as well. Thanks, interesting post.
Campbell's_da_man
I love the way we attack in the redzone under Lewis. Now we're bustin' in for six!
No_Pressure
The offense has clearly been running better since Zorn gave up his play calling duties.
cphil006
I think our "success" has more to do with giving Zorn more time to be head coach during a game instead of calling plays. It's rare for a head coach to be calling plays... He was spread too thin... I think Zorn himself should have probably given it to Sherman Smith earlier in the year, but if Sherman Lewis gets along with all of the coaches, then maybe they can learn some techniques or methodology. Nice that Zorn has picked up some things from Holmgren, but maybe from Lewis as well.
cphil006
Under Zorn' date=' we scored a maximum of 17 points in any given game, but under Lewis, we scored at least 17 in every gameAverage time of possession speaks volumes as well. Thanks, interesting post.[/quote'] Hard to judge from 3 games a piece against different opponents. Zorn's first 8 games last season were great, until teams caught on to his play calling... Who's says teams won't do the same against us after a few games and they catch on the Lewis' style???
MWLthe1st
If Campbell completed his easy passes Sunday our offensive statistics would be much more impressive. Definitely a better play caller.
Hitman#21
You def. can see the difference between the two, i love the bootlegs!
Parker
The offense does look better under Lewis but its only been like 3 games so we'll see.
33
I said this in another thread last night. It's hard to be as bad a play caller as Zorn is.
jimster
with Zorn we were scoring under 17 points against bad teams. With Lewis we're scoring 17 or more against good teams.
Oldfan
There's not much evidence to intelligently and fairly judge the play calling. However, we can bet the farm that any fan who was critical of Zorn's playcalling will see evidence that Sherman Lewis is better. You can book that as a sure thing. Zhouse
the raw numbers seem to indicate that the sherm lewis experiment is working. Do we give credit to Cerrato if this is true and leads to more wins??
Soup
Wish we had sherm during the easy part of the schedule, If they are scoring against good teams it would have been a whole different story entering the philly game. We'd be 5-1 before the monday night game against philly and Sherm would have been in with the team longer. Kinda stinks actually. Even with this banged up oline the skins are scoring more against better teams than they did before. So a Large part was Zorn after all. What if they skins manage to finish 8-8? Wouldn't if suggest that the redskins do have the player to win NOW and they just need to get a better mind at play caller when the season is done?? Saqs
The odds of us only getting better, regardless of the playcaller, were in our favor so I dont take much stock in the Zorn vs Lewis thing.
