Giants in Denial

Michael Barrow: "I don't know who was on that field today. We dishonored ourselves today".

Sam Garnes: "You shouldn't be losing to this team. No way we should lose to the Redskins, but we did . . . I don't care if they had the best day of their careers".

Kerry Collins: "We probably looked at their record and said, ‘Ahh, it's Washington, you know, we'll come out here and beat 'em,'."

For a team that struggled pretty hard to beat the Redskins at home a couple of weeks ago, looking past a divisional opponent playing at home coming off an emotional win is just plain delusional. The Giants were outplayed and outcoached yesterday, and didn't win by much the last time we played. Yet they still believe they're on some other level and just had a bad hair day. This had better serve as a wakeup call if they plan on making noise this year.

Believe or not, I actually want Dallas to beat the Giants next week on some last minute FG to win 3-0.

We beat the Giants because we performed better than they did. They had a typical Norv Turner game. Totally abandoning the run, going with a no huddle, and they probably felt they were looking good out there while getting beat. We won because we were more physical and more tough. They lost because they tried to finesse us and they lost because of it. You simply don't put the running game away like they did against our run defense. You force us to stop you first, and if we can, then you put it away.

The Giants not only shouldn't have won this game, they had no chance with that game plan. It was atrocious. Marty did everything possible to keep them alive in the first half, but once we actually decided it was ok to play the game on offense, this was not going to be a contest. And, it wasn't.

No, Bufford, no! smile.gif

I cannot understand the Giants' ****iness about Washington. Before yesterday they had won two close games in a row over us when we were arguably playing some of the worst football in team HISTORY. Before that we had beaten them 4 or 5 times in a row I believe. It should not come as a shock that we won that game.

The Giants attitude of superiority will cost them greatly. They win games by clawing and scratching, making few mistakes and taking advantage of other teams' miscues. They will not win many games underestimating teams with poor records, abandoning the run and handing the game to Kerry Collins.

Oh Bufford, please don't say such things. smile.gif

I'd much rather see the pouty Giants win than Cowboys even come within 4 games of Jerry Jones' 10-6 prediction. I'll NEVER root for the Cowboys. guns.gif

I agree with Art - Fassel decided the NFC East wasn't complete without Norv so he morphed into the Blandmeister.

What happens on the sidelines? How do you play a team with the worst run D in the league and decide to throw against them 52 times? I realize they hadn't had a lot of success early, but neither did Stephen Davis. You pound away and eventually the heart of the opposing defense just wears down.

I hope that heart of the NY defense keeps thinking the same way about us. They've had that mindset for about 5 years now (that the Redskins can't possibly challenge the Big Blue defense) and it's been one of our best allies. The quotes you're reading today are exactly the same as when we hung 50 points on them a few seasons back.

The Giants simply have looked mediocre of late, both against the Eagles and the Skins this week. Right now I'm very tempted to pick Dallas to win their next meeting. Dallas is playing solid football right now and if one only considers the past three weeks. The Skins and Boys look better than the Iggles or Gints, IMO. It's high time the best rivalry in the NFL returned to the top of the NFC East where it belongs.

how sweet would that be? a team in the NFC East starting with 5 loses turning it around and finishing around .500. I guess its possible. Not likely but possible. Got my fingers crossed.

In Kerry Collins' defense, there were other quotes that made it sound as though he may understand the reality of the situation. These other guys, though, are clearly reading their own press clippings too much.

And I absolutely agree. The past two weeks the best football in the NFC East has been played by Washington and Dallas.

The biggest difference I think in the last 5 qtrs has got to be the emotion on the field. You practice everyday so that your reactions to situations are solid and with purpose. When you add emotion into that, you get butt kicking football. We are close and on the verge of stepping up. The bye is going to hit perfect after what will be a tough game with Seattle. Here we go.

Look, I'll admit the Redskins were the better team yesterday but the Giants had several of days like yesterday last year. These things happen. I know and so do they that they have things that need to be fixed. Last year, Fassel fixed those things. The Giants still have the talent to beat any team on any day and they also have the talent to make the playoffs. This game yesterday can either kill the Giants and send them into a tailspin they don't come out of. Or, it can wake them up and make them see they have to show up every week and play as hard as they did against the Rams. No excuses, the Redskins played better yesterday but the Giants especially defensively are capable of playing much better. I still see the Giants making the playoffs. If they lose this week, than I'll stop talking about playoffs and start talking about the draft for the Giants. I think Fassel will get this team straightened out.

There's certainly no reason for Giant fans to panic. The fact that the East is so weak will keep them in the race even if the mediocre play continues.

Any team can beat anyone on a given Sunday. That's why they play the games. Any other cliches (that happen to be true) come to mind? smile.gif

Hey, only a couple more losses until Fassell breaks out the "guarantee card." smile.gif

Those players that said that are the same ones that got their a** kicked in the SB!

The same Giants that was cluesless against us two weeks ago??? suddenly they were all of that and we weren't worth anything. Well if you ask me, they HAVE been reading the papers too much laugh.gif

That's why I picked the Skins to beat them 29-19, because in the last three contests, they DID NOT outright beat us!

That lopsided score they had against us last year was debatable and the reason we KNOW this win against them was for real is because we have seen the surge coming and the first quarter against Green Bay was a signal that when this team sticks together they can beat anyone. They just have to believe it. It's coming and Fassel saw it with his own eyes. Suddenly the some Giant's players are discounting us, but their classier players aren't!

Truth is the Giants are not a good ball team, what I was saying in previous posts was that the Giant fans actually think they are a good team. Now seeing that the Giants themselves belive this, there is nothing the head cheerleader can do this year with his guarentees. I laugh and will continue to as they slip and slide but we all know their time is coming and we had a little something to do with it on 10/28. Go Skins !!! Giants suck! And I think I would laugh my a$$ off totally if the Girls knocked them off this week.laugh.gif

Hey Redskinstailbetweenhislegs,

You know what? The Giants are going to make the playoffs. Fassel isn't guaranteeing that, I am. And when they do, you will be nowhere to be found. The Giants suffered a number of games last year as they did this past Sunday. All teams go through times like this. It is what they do after that game that is important. You show absolutely no football knowledge whatsover. All you are is a little baby who is acting like an idiot. You give no basis to backup your claims. No stats, no reasoning. And saying the Giants lost 35-21 to the Redskins doesn't qualify. The Giants played the Rams very tough and could have easily beaten them. It was a bad Sunday for the Giants. Until more is seen, there is no proof otherwise. Now go away!!! And I am sure if the Giants would have beaten the Redskins Sunday, we would have never seen you hear again.

Hey Tom,

The Skins BEAT the Rams last year, if that's a criterialaugh.gif

You lost to them this yearbiggrin.gif

Now go take your over-rated ARSE's team, go back and

re-configure. Fizzle got lucky last year. He didn't even "predict" as the media would have us to believe, he only "stated" the G-men would make the playoffs as any decent head coach would say. Same as Marty said about the Skins this seasontongue.gif

Now go take your over-rated opinion about the G-men and reconsider.............Jansen OWNS Strahan, 'cept for one play last game and will continue to OWN him. Get used to it!

This is not ESPN, with Boomer and the boyz. They gave up hope on their favorite sonz the Buc's last week, but now that they won their last game, Boomer and the Boyz will be back on the bandwagon!laugh.gif

What kind of respect will the G-men get 'til they win their next game. Better hope they have NO more injuries. I HATE injuries to ANY team.

Peace!

TGFL....with all due respect....ours is the weakest division in the NFL. none of the teams are outstanding. the gints, last sunday notwithstanding, have a great defense. but your offense has been and continues to be weak. moreover, Collins is second tier at best. hopefully, you guys will right your ship and return to course.

Oh Tom are your upset? Football knowledge, I see alot of BS on the board none of which pertain to football knowledge, and if you had any you would stop crying about the Rams game, WHO CARES!!!!!!! YOU LOST!!!!!! And if you won based on that and the Redskins beat the Giants well we should be better than the Rams? Your a wusssy big mouth Girly fan just like the rest of the Giant faithful, good luck I am sure you' ll squeeze into the playoffs somehow and you go out in the first game you play. As for my knowledge of football I will have your dumb a$$ know I have been watching football for over twenty five years and I have never, evvvvverrrrr seen a weaker Super Bowl than last year, dispute that knowledge!!cool.gif

Tailgate............I'm with Chosen and Bufford on this one. Tom is here because he was invited, long before you even found this place. He's one of the old TSN gang, and generally well respected here, so if you can't express yourself better then an 8 year old with a sugar buzzz, refrain from posting.
