I didn't realize there hadn't been a thread. Of course i watch it, and I do like it. They have an excellent technical consultant on DID, and the acting/characters are equally excellent. If you have On Demand, watch it from the beggining.

Just watched the first episode. Spielberg...not Howard:doh:

I thought I knew a couple people who might suffer with DID but after watching this I highly doubt it. For those who know, is this a typical case? It seems extremely severe to me, almost beyond belief. And I don't know how anyone could have a family (a somewhat normal one) or even friends.

I have only met T and Buck.

And if this is a typical case, I can only suppose that the reason most people never run into someone like that is because A) these people are hospitalized 24/7 or B) they are heavily medicated and the alters hardly ever come out.

And when an alter is out, does the "real person" know what the alter did or is it like a blackout?

1. watch the rest of the episodes--there are 10 or 11 to date. you'll only get a little inkling of what's it's all about in the first 3.

2. maybe go read up on the show on the showtime site (I haven't). it likely will include references to the issues and the show's technical consultant.

3. the people who can best answer your questions, were any to be present, will likely have the good sense to avoid trying to, or simply won't want to, in this venue-- anymore than they would likely get involved in the occasionally occuring threads that involve people opining/disclosing on such isssues in a side forum of an internet football message board. ;)

4. it is a premium cable network tv show in the end, aiming at entertaining an audience and not a doumentary or an educational piece, so there is that as a bottom line. :D

but to your last question, I will state that it is usually more like a blackout and genuine cases are very rare.

Sounds interesting. It's a shame I won't see it. Sorry, I'm not going to pay $200 per month to get all those stupid premium channels that have a couple can't-miss shows.

$200 per month? lol, dude your cable/satellite provider is taking you to the cleaners.

I get HBO, Showtime, Starz and Encore for like $20 extra a month or something. LOL, premium channels shouldn't be costing $200 a month, unless those premium channels are like, pornos. haha

thought so....just got done watching the 4th episode. Very interesting show so far...Also, im waiting for the Pizza manager to do something really perverted/creepy as he seems like he is a weirdo.

the whole family becomes riveting as charcaters...the girl/daughter is great...tara's sister, too....wiat till you get to the "boob job" episodes :D

I love this show. Started watching it when it came on after the L Word. Don't do a whole lot of tv sitcom type shows, but Shotime usually puts out some really good ones.

this is tops. ( I believe I listed in my post in the "what tv shows do you watch" thread.
