The Spy Factory That was the huge thing. Prior to 9/11 turf battles and laws created walls in the IC. One agency could not speak to the other That entire summer alarm bells were going off. HOF44
That entire summer alarm bells were going off. Nobody could put the pieces together because nobody could actually see the big picture I had read that before, but this program put it all together and showed how much we really knew. It's amazing really to see it all put together like this.
Larry
Keep remembering a scene in Clancey's Patriot Games. Jack Ryan has been allowed into the CIA, and he's just been given access to everything the CIA has on the terrorists that Ryan just fought. Ryan is now buried in piles of information, and a supervisor comes in. The supervisor explains that one of the really frustrating things about this job? Some day, the CIA is going to crack this group. They'll figure out who they are, where they work, and all that stuff. And when they do? They'll discover that everything they needed was already right here in front of us, for years. It's always easy, after something happens, to go back and look at the data, and say  the clues are right here.

Popeman38
Basing anything off what the Bureau says, and then saying it wasn't a post-mortum is a crock. The Bureau is designed to react. They are federal LEOs. Not saying any of this isn't troubling, just saying that the puzzle is easy to piece together after the fact. EDIT: I watched.
