Round 1

---------

#1)Arizona Cardinals=RB Darren McFadden (Arkansas)

The Cardinals trade Larry Fitzgerald to the Miami Dolphins for a swap of 1st rounders,2nd round pick #50 and undisclosed picks in 09'....The Cardinals are looking for a gamebreaking back to go with a prolific offense and to help take a load off Leinart or Warner.

#2)St.Louis Rams=OT Jake Long (Michigan)

The Rams really need to improve that O-line and they do with the best OT prospect of the draft..Although a LT, Long can play both LT and RT as he is a versatile man beast.Bulger has been getting killed and Long should do wonders for that line.

#3)Atlanta Falcons=WR Malcolm Kelly (Oklahoma)

Last year Miami reached for Ginn Jr,this year Atlanta does the same for Kelly...But the Falcons have had problems getting recievers who will actually catch the football.Kelly will provide a big target at 6"4" to "whoever" will be throwing him the ball :) ...They also felt he has the most to offer for them at that postion as trading down would have been to risky to lose him.

#4)Oakland Raiders=DE Chris Long (Virginia)

Coming from a good breed in "Howie",Davis can't pass up the chance to land his son...Chris will give an already stout defense,a formidable unit all around...With the retirement of Sapp (DT),Long will join an already very expensive D-line.It will also allow the Raiders to move around D-line rotation as Chris is strong enough to play both positions.

#5)Kansas City Chiefs=S Kenny Phillips (Miami)

As bad as they wanted Ryan Clady, they felt the need for Safety was even bigger...With Gregg Wesley's release they will want to keep a frustrated defensive unit as talented as possible...They feel they can grab an O-lineman in later rounds and with Phillips nose for the ball,he can provide the turnovers the Chiefs have been lacking for some time.

#6)New York Jets=DE Vernon Gholston (Ohio St.)

With the way the bust turned out in DeWayne Robertson, the Jets feel much more comfortable in this pick...They also didn't have to trade up for him to get him either...But the Jets have really needed help along the D-line for sometime as it seems they can't buy a pass russ. The Jets are more than happy for Vernon to fall in their lap like this.

#7)New England Patriots=OLB Keith Rivers (USC)

Suprise pick by many as the Patriots lost Asante Samuels and Randall Gay to free agency, but there is no doubt that the Patriots were looking to get younger at LB.The Patriots are really wishing they had that 31st pick to add to that secondary,so they will hope one falls in the 2nd round.

#8)Baltimore Ravens=QB Matt Ryan (BC)

With McNairs injuries and near retirement, the Ravens desperately need a franchise QB...And they get one!The Ravens had planned on getting Brohm, but couldn't believe it,when Ryan was still on the board as they wanted him...but didn't want to make a move for him with the talent at QB this year.

#9)Cincinnati Bengals=DE Derrick Harvey (Florida)

With the losts of Justin Smith, the Bengals felt they could get better production from the their pass rush in Harvey...Although a bit undersized, they love is speed and abilty to get around the end and cause havoc.

#10)Washington Redskins=DT Glenn Dorsey (LSU)

The Redskins trade Shawn Springs,3rd round pick 08',7th round pick 08'and a 2nd round pick in 09' draft...The Saints wanted a shutdown corner and the Redskins wanted Dorsey. The Redskins also know that Dorsey wouldn't have made it past the Broncos who pick 12th,as the Broncos always seem to look for D-lineman every season...The Saints get a CB who they need to bulster a very weak secondary and added picks and the Redskins get the anchor they have needed since the Maroon rush in the 80's.

#11)Buffalo Bills=CB Mike Jenkins (South Florida)

The Bills thought heavily on CB McKelvin, but thought Jenkins provided the bump'n'run capability that McKelvin lacks in strength...Although not as elusiveness on the field as McKelvin, his coverskills are hard pressed to be ignored.

#12)Denver Broncos=WR DeSean Jackson (California)

With Dorsey off the board, the Broncos pass on the other available DT's and go for another need in Jackson...With Ashlie Lelea not turning out the way they had hoped, they take a guy who they hope will help Cutler stretch the field.

#13)Carolina Panthers=WR Limas Sweed (Texas)

With the fear of the good receivers coming off the board, the Panthers take no chance and grab a nice tall threat to compliment Smith on the outside...Carolina feared the talent would not have made it into the 2nd round as they reach for sweed, but get their man.

#14)Chicago Bears=RB Jonathan Stewart (Oregon)

While being active at WR in free agency, the Bears were hoping 1 of the 3 WR to fall to them in (Kelly, sweed and jackson),but the bears don't want to pay more money by trading up as we all know too well...So the Bears take a RB they were excited about at the combine and who impressed them alot with his work ethic...

#15)Detroit Lions=OT Ryan Clady (Boise St)

The Lions wonder if Millen is present come draft day...The Lions take a player they needed real bad to help up front.Instead of the splashy WR pick, they take a guy who could really help Kitna and that dangerous wr core. They wanted Long, but knew it would cost way too much to get him...So they grabbed what they thought was a smart pick.

#16)Miami Dolphins=DT Sedrick Ellis (USC)

The Dolphins were really nervous about taking Dorsey at #1 with his injury during his senior year...While finding a trading partner in Arizona,Parcells couldn't pass up a chance for Ellis at this slot. Most people were surprised they didn't take a QB here, but with the talent at that position they felt they could grab what they are looking for later in the draft.

#17)Minnesota Vikings=QB Brian Brohm (Louisville)

The Vikings feel they need more production from the QB spot. With AP solidifying the RB position, they are somewhat unsure of the QB spot right now.So they feel that Brohm will help them as he learns the offense in a year or two...They also feel that with a great offensive line, they should be getting better production at this spot as well.

#18)Houston Texans=CB Aqib Talib (Kansas)

The Texans continue to build that defense, but this time in the secondary as they need help on the outside with the Colts passing attack and the new additions to the Jaguars new receiving core. They feel they are just a few players away from a possible playoff team. The Texans had their first non-losing season since their existence at 8-8.

#19)Philadelphia Eagles=WR Mario Manningham (Michigan)

The Eagles reach for Mario, just like Kolb last season...But with McNabb publicly stating in public that they need a WR,they take a stab at a very good reciever...Plus failing to aquire Fitzgerald, they were left with the next best WR they thought was on the board.

#20)Tampa Bay Buccanears=LB Dan Connor (Penn St)

With the Defense getting very old and the Derrick Brooks about to retire soon..The Bucs felt they needed to get younger at the LB position...Connor gives them a very good tackler and the gruden attitude in toughness...They almost traded down, but decided he was the perfect fit for what they need.

#21)New Orleans Saints=OT Jeff Otah (Pittsburgh)

The Saints really wanted Clady, but the Redskins were the only team that had anything good to offer in Springs to help with their secondary...But Otah should really help with their running game as he is a great run blocking Tackle.

#22)Dallas Cowboys=RB Rashard Mendenhall (Illinois)

As Felix Jones was the consensus pick at this spot,Jerry suprises everyone with this selection...Most thought with Arkansas Alum with Felix or McFadden that he would take one or the other but doesn't...But he liked Mario's toughness a bit more and he should compliment Barber quite well.

#23)Pittsburgh Steelers=DT Kentwan Balmer (N.Carolina)

The Steelers liked Balmer from day 1...they loved his strength and quickness off the ball...They feel like he will give them a good rotation in the middle and like his size as well.

#24)Tennessee Titans=RB Felix Jones (Arkansas)

The Titans feel that Felix will compliment Lendell White and really want to make their running game more balanced...They didn't like any of the WR's at this spot,so they took what they thought was smart addition to tough AFC South division. They want ball control to be an importance to a now pass happy division...

#25)Seattle Seahawks=OT Chris Williams (Vanderbilt)

With the additions of Julies Jones and Crumpler, the Seahawks wanted to bulster their O-line for their lack of running game the last 2 seasons...Although successful in the new passing attack style, they want to balance the offense with an affective running game.

#26)New York Giants=CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (Tennessee St)

The Giants find value here by trading Jeremy Shockey to Jacksonville for their 1st round pick...The Giants need a CB real bad and the Jags really wanted another big target for Gerrard...Shockey felt isolated in NY and the Giants felt that Boss did exactly what they had hope shockey would provide...Teamwork!Shockey likes the deal cause he's from Miami.

#27)San Diego Chargers=WR James Hardy (Indiana)

The Chargers felt that Hardy's size would really help them in the redzone along with gates and LT...They feel that with injuries during the playoffs last season(LT,Gates),they really didn't have an answer for the defenses they faced.Hardy should give them another option should that situation happen again.

#28)Dallas Cowboys=S Reggie Smith (Oklahoma)

The Cowboys hope that Reggie is better than Roy Williams in covering the long pass...Ironically,both are from Oklahoma...But they should be pleased cause reggie doesn't get burned like ole' Roy does.Well,At least Jerry is bankin' on that anyways.

#29)San Francisco 49ers=DE Phillip Merling (Clemson)

The Niners feel they need to get more pressure from the outside...Although their defense has not been the disappointment like the offense has, they feel that his presence will really make it tough to run against them as Merling excells at stopping the run for a DE.

#30)Greenbay Packers=DE Lawrence Jackson (USC)

The packers can't help but grab Jackson here...With a defense that played well, they still felt a missing piece was sitting at the other DE spot...Lawrence should provide GB with a pair of very good DE's for the next decade.

#31)New England Patriots=Forfeited due to CHEATING!

#32)New York Giants=LB Ali Highsmith (LSU)

The Giants lost 2 LB's and a Safety to free agency and they were starters...The Giants like the pick here with Highsmith cause he can play both Inside and outside. But what makes him so interesting is his ability to cover the pass so well.

#34)St.Louis Rams=WR Andre Caldwell (Florida)

#35)Oakland Raiders=OG Branden Albert (Virginia)

#37)New York Jets=WR Early Doucet (LSU)

#38)Atlanta Falcons=CB Antoine Cason (Arizona)

#39)Baltimore Ravens=WR Devin Thomas (Michigan St)

#40)San Francisco Niners=CB Curtis Loften (Oklahoma)

#41)New Orleans Saints=DE Quentin Groves (Auburn)

#42)Buffalo Bills=LB Erin Henderson (Maryland)

#44)Carolina Panthers=CB Justin King (Penn St)

#45) Chicago Bears=QB Chad Henne (Michigan)

#47)Cincinnati Bengals=OT Barry Richardson (Clemson)

#48)Minnesota Vikings=WR Earl Bennett (Vanderbilt)

#49)Atlanta Falcons=QB Andre Woodson (Kentucky)

So we trade our best CB and 3 draft picks to get a DT who may not have an NFL career in 5 years?

Seriously, reading his threads make me laugh.

One day he is asking about trying out for the redskins, trading for Brady Quinn, picking players based on 40 times and bench presses, signing Culpepper and Moss

Seriously dude stop with the fantasy threads:laugh:

NO WAY we trade up for Dorsey. We should have 5 picks in the first 4 rounds - a 1st, 2nd, two 3rds and a 4th. Seems like the FO has been really smart this year. I can't see them blowing it now, trading all of those picks for Dorsey when he's not even the best d-lineman in the draft.

But, it's obvious that you put a lot of thought into your draft, so kudos to you for that.

we lose a 2nd and a 3rd rounder, along with Springs for Dorsey? That is basically three starters lost for nothing as 2nd and 3rd rounders usually can contribute and often start as rookies. We could just get one starter at pick 21 w/o losing anyone else.

I know we've made some dumb trades before, but that trade jsut seems really silly. Gaining another first to draft Campbell and losing a 2nd and 3rd was not as bad as this since that deal didn't include one of the better CB's in the league.

Isn't this like his 3rd mock he's created so far?

no...my only one.

So you guys think trading from 21st to 10 and giving up Springs(injured more than Glenn could ever be) a 3rd this season(even though we will have extra 3rd rounder),a 7th this season and a 2nd next year(value of a 3rd) is too much for Glenn Dorsey...the best defensive player in the draft who played his whole senior year with an injury...

Am I'm the idiot? Are you sure?

Draft Value we give up

165+6.2+165= 336.2

Saints have value of 1120.

Yea, I am sure that they will accept a deal that we are giving them $.25 on the dollar and a aging CB will satisfy the deal:laugh:

Yeah lol, that's valueing Springs at a 1st round pick.

You'd have to be crazy not to do this. Dorsey is a force, and one that would easily boost our line.

By the way, here is the draft value chart:

The idea that New Orleans, which is in desperate need of an impact player on the interior of their line, would give up an opportunity to get Glenn Dorsey, who happens to be from LSU, seems a little unlikely to me. And I will literally quit posting on this site if Kenny Phillips AND Malcolm Kelly both go in the top 5. Hell, if ONE of them goes in the top 5. That part just won't happen.

But from our perspective, if the draft broke like this, why not wait and make a move for Sedrick Ellis, a move that would cost us a good deal less in terms of a trade in this scenario. We could probably jump from #21 to #16 (your projected landing spot for Ellis) by giving up only our natural 3rd and 7th round picks, both of which will likely be replaced by comp picks. Ellis, in my opinion and in the opinion of a number of analysts, is the equal of Dorsey and doesn't bring the injury baggage. He's a prototype 3-technique DT, a young Warren Sapp with 8-10 sack potential. Working next to Monty for the foreseeable future, Ellis could be an absolute monster.

That would be a much better and more responsible trade-up than going for Dorsey. It's a moot point since both of those guys will almost assuredly be snapped up by #10, but it's the point that needed to be made anyway. I appreciate the effort, and there's nothing wrong with some good old-fashioned "wishful thinking," but this one seems to be more "wishful" than "thinking."

I echo your sentiments.

If this really happens, I am done being a Redskins fan! I don't root for IDIOTs.
