How bad will the economy get?

  1. 1. How bad will the economy get?

    • Probably won't meet the technical definition of a recession.

    • Roughly equivalent to the 2001 recession. Mild and we're quick to recover.
      12
    • More like the 1970's. Slow growth and inflation, but we'll get through.
      17
    • 1930's all over again. A deep and protracted reduction in economic output. Grab your ankles.

There is NOBODY on this board that can tell me that we wont be better with Randy Moss. Dude is a ******* BEAST!!!!!!!!!

ahhh, yes there is (not that my opinion counts for anything...but, hey -- I am on the message board ;-)

He's 30 years old and IMHO he does still have several VERY productive years ahead of him and I think he'll continue to be a stud WR for at least 3-4 more years --- with the caveat that it's ON THE RIGHT TEAM. (And unfortunately, Redskins simply aren't the right team to get married to Randy Moss.)

Unfortunately, Moss has proven to be a head case and can function on teams with proven/stable QB's:

- MN there was Daunte who fed him the ball nicely but there was also Cris Carter to keep Moss in check and provide a check-down for Culpeper

- Oakland (well, you have me there...it's kind of hard to say anything bad about someone's character or potiential when they play for the Raiders these days) but Moss really showed his a** with the Raiders with a subpar QB

- NE...Moss was a stud last year (look at the QB)

Moss excelled under Culpepper (Moss had Carter on the other side and as a mentor) and under Brady. But Moss was a cancer with an unproven QB in Oakland.

If Todd Collins was #1, I'd say it'd be great to have Moss here (hey, if Collins can snap at a monster like Mike Sellers during a game, he can definitely hold his own against the likes of Randy Moss)...but our bridesmaid is Jason Campbell (not Collins)...I love Campbell's attitude and moxy and I simply don't want to see it taken down a notch by the likes of Moss.

I really think that Moss will sign a one year tender with Green Bay and that Favre will come back for one last year.

Seriously guys-from a Cowboys fan-when we sold the farm on Deion in the mid-90's...sure, we got our "thumb" Super Bowl, however...

Our huge investment in him ended up shooting our OL to ****, ultimately putting the nail in Aikman's career. Heck, look at the Yankees this decade, all the money in the world ended up making them choke-artists. Or how about the Pats last year when they broke the bank on all those stud wideouts? They FORGOT to upgrade their FREAKIN' O-LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With that being said-once upon a time ago, Jerry Reese and the Giants didn't do SQUAT in FA, and the GMB was going bonkers about their OL and LB corps. What happened on 2/3/07? Could someone elaborate for us?

And for that matter, the Colts ended up losing 1/2 of their starters last year from their SB41 team-when all was said and done, they won 14 games and were a Dwight Freeney injury away from making an All-Manning Bowl happen.

Pt being that betting the farm ALMOST NEVER works. Heck-with all the worries that Fitz may go to Philly...less not forget how Reid ABANDONS the run game-having a Fitz, Williams, Johnson, etc will only make him forget about it completely. And we all know how his pass-happy schemes are HORRIBLE.

Good, I hope he goes to the boys. A player who was on a team that just went 18-1 and is already looking to move is NEVER GOING TO BE HAPPY. The boys already have a player who is almost NEVER HAPPY. You put TO and Moss together on the same team and you get a situation where the whole is much much less than the sum of its parts.

Be careful what you wish for.

i kinda think moss is going to get jacked up next year, or hindered in someway. i dunno, he is just not the same as he was in minn performance wise. the jets game was cool and all, but hes not dominating like im used to remembering. i know he got the records and stuff, but a lot i feel had to do with other things in place in NE. i know hes a great genius player and all... i just mean the tank is def. not full.

its just a weird hunch ive had for a little while.. like he plays somber or something

FYI-I'm more concerned about our OL. Late in the year, opposing teams' D just went jailbreak on us. You saw how the Eagles, your team, and the Giants in the playoffs contained our "Huidini" QB late in the year. And for that matter, with all the stock the Pats had in their WRs and TEs last year, even they couldn't cover up the deficiencies for their mediocre line.

Pt being that it all starts up FRONT-the QBs mechanics means ALOT-no time to throw = aweful mechanics = errant passes to his receivers. Lots of time = great mechanics = perfect throws to his receivers.

With that being said-I'm surprised by how everyone is raving over the Eagles overpaying Samuel(and assuming they get a stud WR, the pundits be already giving them the Lombardi Trophy before the season starts). Their OL is good, but they DO struggle in pass protection(and they have no depth to boot).

You know you are the first Cowboys fan I have seen say this here or who has said something about their line . I think the Adams signing was necessary but expensive for a 33 year old .

If Moss went to the boys i would be less concerned than if he went to the Eagles because the Boys already have an expensive stand out WR in TO and a dynamic passing game with Witten and Crayton behind him . For them to add Moss would have an impact but not a huge one and teams would just key on Romo sits to pee as they did late season and afterall there is only one ball .

The Eagles on the other hand with a WR like Moss was last year ( I meen a motivated Moss) would be vastly improved, because they don't have someone like him on their roster . Ff McNabb can bound back to be like McNabb circa 2004, Curtis would be more effective Westbrook (essentially thier offense last year) would be more dangerous and they already have a young efficient Oline. They also are gearing up their defense again . Clemons to replace the freak (Not sure on him - i think he is a good pass rush specialist but nothing special, a little like Wilson but better numbers) and Samuel to replace Shepard....they still need another safety and the LBs are suspect but they are gearing up.

I think we are falling back a little but with the injuries, the loss of ST, the loss of Gibbs ( and some co-ordinators) it is kind of expected BUT we cannot mold our teams simply to stop or match the boys or the eagles etc etc we need to make the best additions to take advantage of our own strengths and build on the weaknesses.

If you put TO and Moss together, you'll have a pair of DB's killers. Then you have to add in Witten too. They'll do more damage to other teams, than their own.

No..if you put TO and Moss together you have a two headed coach/team killer. They'll implode.

Randy Moss-WR- Patriots Mar. 1 - 9:37 pm et

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that Randy Moss is "inching closer to the point of frustration" over the lack of contract progress with the Patriots.

We've seen this before, when Adam Vinatieri sat on the market, trying to convince teams he may not stay a Patriot. Other teams may be leery of being a pawn in negotiations, and only a few franchises have the cash and team to make sense. Philadelphia, Denver, Washington, and possibly Green Bay seem like the best fits to us. Dallas doesn't have the cap room.

I would be surprised if Moss comes to the East at all. We play real football here and a skinny little mop like him will get broke.

How many licks does it take for Landry to get to the center of that tootsie roll pop?

Of course!! Everyone's getting all the FA's except us. Atleast sign a few lower level players to fill the pressing issues. We're seeing some stud DTs getting trading for mid-lower round draft picks. We barely put pressure on opposing QBs last season!!!

There've been many posts addressing our off-season actions. They are mostly highlighted by us looking for bargains, not trying to sign every position that we're not pro-bowl at, and trying to still hold the draft.

You can hate Moss all you want and talk about his age, but to me he is one of the BEST receivers I have ever seen play the game. His talent was wasted in Minnie and in Oakland. I really thought we saw the "real" Randy last year. He did his job and did not complain because he was on a good team that used his talent wisely.

If he goes to the Boys, make no mistake, we are screwed. I want him out of the NFC East or better yet, staying with New England, which I suspect ultimately will be the outcome. Bring out the Kraft dollars.
