If by Luda, you mean Ludacris......than wow, Luda is WACK!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you meant LUPE!

Luda is whack? While everyone else out there is just talkin about how great they are and hoping it rhymes, Luda makes statements that are clever and has great puns, wordplay, and story telling ability...Who else can do that right now?

And I want quotes...if you read back in the thread I already made this challenge

"Oddisee, Esoteric, Illogic, Apathy, Celph Titled, Chief Kamachi, Raw Poetic, Blu"?????

I think to be defined as one of the greats, a lot of people have to know who you are...

The Roots are great and they don't sell as many albums because they choose not to produce "mainstream" hip-hop but people still know who they are...

I have not heard of ANY of those guys...maybe I would know them if I was strictly a hip-hop head but I have a diverse taste in music

Im by no means a "hip-hop head" and I would argue that my musical taste is also very diverse. However, I chose to put a little effort in finding music that is not the spewed mainstream garbage we are exposed to everyday on the radio/MTV. With the advent of the internet it is really easy to find underground stuff and really explore it. Most of the emcees I mentioned are like how you describe the Roots. They chose not to sign with the big labels and thus stayed out of the mainstream (most even moreso than the Roots).

Not all of us have that drive or spare time or desire to do that with our spare time. My music comes from the radio, TV, and friends' recommendations.

I like Ludacris, but I definitely think that Lupe has the best lyrics in rap right now.....

From "The Instrumental"

He just sits, and watches the people in the boxes

Everything he sees he absorbs and adopts it

Heeeeee mimics and he mocks it

Really hates the box but he can't remember how to stop, it

Uhh, so he continues to watch it

Hoping that it'll give him something that he can box with

Or how the locksmith, see the box as, locked in the box

Ain't got the combination to unlock, it

That's why he watch-es, scared to look away

Cause at that moment, it might show him

What to take off the locks with

So he chained himself to the box, took a lock and then he locked it

Swallowed the combination and then forgot, it

As the doctors jot it all down, with they pens and pencils

The same ones that took away his voice

And just left this instrumental, like that

And he never lies (he never lies, he never lies, uhh)

And he never lies (uhh, he never lies, he never lies, no)

And he never lies (he never lies)

Cause he never said anything at all

and you can't tell me just who you are

You buy new clothes just to hide those scars

You built that roof just to hide those stars

Now you can't take it back to the start

yep and that is from Food & Liquor which came out in 2006. He's gotten even better! I have all of Lupe's mixtapes and CD's and the dude is a straight beast. I love his style.

I just got really into him, and for the past couple weeks, Lupe has been all I listen to. One of my friends recommended "Us Placers" by CRS, which is Lupe, Kanye, and Pharrell, and I can't get enough of it. I would go nuts if the three of them decided to actually make an album together.

I've always like Kweli's stuff, and I'll check out his new album. I use Ruckus, and the latest album I can find is EARDRUM.
