I could easily put up a couple of Hov's greatest bars against Lupe or GFK's...that doesn't prove anything
Thetimeisnow
Hoe has some good bars but nothing wholesome.
mvisit1
Define wholesome... He's not an option here but my favorite lyricist right now is Ludacris...He makes truly clever and intelligent statements similes and metaphors that make sense and uses good puns and he has a voice that makes you listen
The Sir
hov is a living legend...but Lupe is the next big thing....Lupe > your favorite rapper... My favorite rapper is Common. So, I guess that would make your statement false.
Thetimeisnow
Wholesome is something you can learn form without comprmising your humility or honor.
mvisit1
The verse in Lost Ones about breaking up is clever and wholesome
Thetimeisnow
Luda is OK better than most Id say that. Wu Tang forever. You got that W that stands for wisdom, we got the way, we got the medicine for your sickness.

mvisit1
I don't like your "wholesome" argument, by your definition, Will Smith is the only wholesome artist I can think of
Thetimeisnow
Mabey if we call cursing bad but curse words dont compromise anything that I know of.

Thetimeisnow
No one is always one way. But by my definition Wu Tang , Papoose, even Lupe. Jay Z just dosent do it for me.
mvisit1
Ok so say he doesn't do it for you but don't say he's not the best that ever did it because he's not "wholesome" Papoose? Really? I think the first time I ever heard him it was a cameo on an R&B song?
Thetimeisnow
No way is he the best that ever did it. Papoose will eat that man.
mvisit1
I swear I never heard his name until he was recently (within the past year) featured on an R&B song...please correct me if I'm wrong
Thetimeisnow
Mabey but I heard of him Years ago. If you like rap you will love pap he has over 15 mixtapes. The industry wont touch him with a ten foot pole. He got them boys nervous.
Chuong9
If we're still on topic I liked Lupe's the best followed by Ghostface. Of course Ghostface's CD was going to be good, but I like the stories and messages in Lupe's songs. Jay-Z is unbelievably overrated on mainstream and the only album I liked from him is Blueprint. Warpath11
Off the top of my head greater than Jay-Z, Luda and amnog others mentioned: Oddisee, Esoteric, Illogic, Apathy, Celph Titled, Chief Kamachi, Raw Poetic, Blu...i can think of more but im pretty sure that is enough for now. edit: since i just heard the song I cant forget R.A. the Rugged Man

mvisit1
"Oddisee, Esoteric, Illogic, Apathy, Celph Titled, Chief Kamachi, Raw Poetic, Blu"????? I think to be defined as one of the greats, a lot of people have to know who you are... The Roots are great and they don't sell as many albums because they choose not to produce "mainstream" hip-hop but people still know who they are... I have not heard of ANY of those guys...maybe I would know them if I was strictly a hip-hop head but I have a diverse taste in music
skinsfan07
Who is better lyrically than Luda? If by Luda, you mean Ludacris......than wow, Luda is WACK!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you meant LUPE!
