Three teams from NFCE!!!!

Wow!!! Three teams from the NFC east in the playoffs and not one makes it to the NFC Championship game!!! That's sad, I know we didn't even make the playoffs, but some how I don't feel as bad about it now. I'm just hoping our whole division gets better, back to the Black and Blue days. :2cents:

The fact that three teams made it means that the level of competition within the division is greater and thus the records sported by the div winner aren't going to be gaudy, so the teams will likely have to play on the road in the divisional round. And since 1990, the home teams have won around 80 percent of the games played in the divisional round.

I think it says for about the state of the NFC than anything else. In most years only one of those teams would have made it to the playoffs. None of the teams in the East played good ball for the entire season. The division crown ended up going to the eam that stunk the least.

Unfortunately, this says a lot about the Redskins as well, who went 1-5 against these teams.

Exactly. I've never really understood why people would WANT the NFC to go back to it's glory days.... where the teams beat the hell out of each other.

Nothing wrong with dominating your division... and securing home-field advantage throughout the playoffs (with a week's rest). That's the most important factor.

Let's not forget... 2 of those 3 teams played each other in the 1st round. So we knew at least 1 was going to be eliminated immediately :)

All the games were close and competitive. So I'm not sure if there's anything to be ashamed about.

I'd like to believe this since the Skins are in the NFCE, but the fact is, the division looks a lot like the NFC Central in the '80s...no great teams (with the exception of the Bears in 84...).

To me it's because the teams were much better and were beating the hell out of each other to be on top as opposed to not being on the bottom. Also it seemed the team that was able to come out on top of the East, were all that much more prepared to deal with anyone else in the conference.

Other teams knew that once the playoffs started if there was any teams from the East in there, they were in for a battle. Much different times I Know.

if the teams were much better, they would have won. the nfc sucks, and the nfc east if far from superior to the rest of the conference.

Still half the NFC teams in the playoffs came from the east, yes all the games were competitive, but with the 3 teams all having a chance for first place in the east, all were only good enough to match up against the second place teams within the conference. So that is why I didn't feel as bad that we didn't make the playoffs. Nothing really to be ashamed of, but still sad for our division IMO.

I was refering to what is termed the Glory days, when they DID win. The Skins, the Giants and in early 90's the Cowboys, did win.

The last time 3 teams from the East made the playoffs, not only did one make the NFC conference Championship game but they won the Super Bowl. As much as I hate to point it out it was the 1992 Cowboys.

before that the 1990 Giants

In between them there was only two East teams in the playoffs, but 3 with 10 plus wins. the year we won the Super Bowl

85 and 89 three teams with 10 plus wins only 2 in playoffs, but neither made NFC title game.

86 Washington and Giants make playoffs face each other in title game (Giants win  )

Just to show that we were beating the hell out of each other, but it paid off in the post season.

Here are the NFL records from 1920-2006, I didn't go through many more than I posted, but I didn't find a year where 3 teams from the East made playoffs where one didn't go on to the NFC Title game. I'll look through more later.
