CHARLOTTESKINS
My wife found out a few days ago that we were going to have a baby....So we have been tossing around ideas for baby names.....I like the name Gibbs (for obvious reasons) for a boy... My question to the group is naming a child after your favorite head coach completely neurotic or normal if it is a guy like Gibbs?

Well it's normal to have the thought, but if its not a normal first name "Gibbs" your son will most likely hate you for it and be teased. :2cents:

tuna_h8r
It is a normal thought. I have a nephew born in '88, and his parents /considered/ naming him Douglas William, becuase they were thinking of boy names during the SB run. They weren't serious, and in the end honored an actual member of our family instead of the sports hero of the moment. Seriously though, you should make sure you have all of your "family bases" covered. I have 3 daughters, and though my wife and I did not name any of our children with exactly the same names as their grandparents or great-grandparents, we did keep some family names alive, which is nice. LD0506
Congrats on the good news but name your child something normal. There seems to be a weird trend of people giving their children bizarre names to make them stand out or something, but look at it this way. By the time your kid goes to school, he (or she) will stand out by NOT having a ridiculous name.
rincewind
I like the idea. And its better than naming him Sue.

Kosher Ham
And your thoughts on names for a girl ? I love me some Joe Gibbs, but I wouldnt name my son Gibbs. First thought Joe, second thought the Bee Gees. My sister-in-law named my 2 week old nephew Rowan. Her other son is named Emmett, they are Patriots fans (dog named Brady), I just dont get it. Rare is better than unique to me. Names like Ruth, Edith, Ruppert, and Wellington are rather cruel to me.

Titaw
I would suggest Taylor for a girl, but I already named my daughter that. I think it is totally normal in fact if both of you agree on it I see noting wrong with it.

SKINS@THEGOALLINE
First off, congratulations! My brother, a huge Green Bay Packer fan, named his second son "Brett" after "Brett Favre". He also named his dog "Liberace", because he's the peein'-ist.
PleaseBlitz
I vote for GhostofNibbsMcPimpin for a first name and Gregg (2 g's) for a middle name.

CarrollsMine99
Congratulations! I think "Gibbs" would be a hard/challenging name to grow up with. It might work for a middle name if you both very much like the name, but my advice is to NOT make it a first name. CarrollsMine99.
