Brunell...We Already Know How He Will Play

Everyone says that our number one concern is quarterback. However, although he is older, I don't see any reason for much concern. Throughout his career he has been very consistent year in and year out except for the two years when he was obviously not healthy. Although he is going to be 36 in September, I think it almost equalls itself out given that he will be playing with quite possibly the most talented team he has ever been apart of, and we all know how amazing the coaching staff is. At 36, Brunell could still be a force.

Ok i tried posting the stats but it just wouldn't come out right. You can just click that link to see them. His rating is in the 80s year in and year out. I am not worried.

What will it take to get him over 100?

Brunell is a "question mark" not because he's not an effective, skilled player who can play well for us. He's a question mark because, as we saw, if his legs are at all limited, his game gets severely limited. Early on, and really through much of the season, Brunell was sharp, accurate, deadly, strong-armed. He was all you'd want. The team transformed to a running team and, to be fair, even before the Giants game where he took a shot on his knee, he started to decline. Maybe just general arm fatigue, whatever.

Keeping him fresh and sharp is the key for us. Limiting his snaps in the preseason along with a bye week far better timed than last year can really help us. He's everything we need in a player, when healthy, to be plenty for us to win with. Keeping him feeling good is going to be big for us.

Mark Brunell will do fine as long as he's healthy.

Still, I have two concerns about the QB position.

1. I'd like to see Campbell and Collins do well in preseason games to give me a comfort level that we're covered at the position.

2. I'm concerned that Brunell may accumulate enough damage to his legs during the season that his performance falls off late in the season or in the playoffs. We've seen the tremendous difference in his performance when he has his legs versus when he doesn't.

Here's the stats...not sure if it matters to anyone. Sometimes with wierd tables and stuff its best to copy and paste the text into notepad, then copy and paste it here.

As far as Brunell goes, I've got alot of confidence in him as a QB. He can throw a perfect ball a majority of the time and like most everyone else said, if his legs are fine, the team will be fine too.

Hell, I'd be happy with just a good performance from Campell. I can handle Collins being the master of the clipboard, dude knows the offense. I'd like to see more from JC. Though he did look good when he got to play last year.

Remember, Guys like Wilbon were saying that JC was the most accurate and undercontrol QB last year during practices. Whatever that is worth. At least he doesn't seem like a dummy like Patrick. I just don't think that kid could remember the plays.

My spies tell me that both Campbell and Collins have exceeded expectations in OTAs .... as I have said repeatedly on this Board: "Mark my word, Brunell will break a finger nail and end up on IR." Campbell will turn out to be this year's Big Ben. Take it to the Bank of America.
