Why would the Jets even be overly worried about Patrick Ramsey. They retained Chad Pennington...

Probably because the Jets know the same thing as the rest of the football world, Pennington was a question mark even before he shredded his shoulder for the second time. Pennington may well never live up to the promise he showed a couple of years ago, I think the Jets are likely ready to try to move on. The only reason Chad is even still there is because he was willing to take a pay cut.

who made it extremely obvious that his arm is SHOT now... hes got nothing left in his shoulder. they know they need a new qb, and ramsey offers a similar style to pennington.

The Jets arent going to do anything until they figure out where Drew Brees is going. If he signs with the Saints it will mean that NO will prob not select a QB in this years draft and the Jets will then be able to get either Leinert or Young. If this happens then they will have no reason to acquire Ramsey. So having said that, we'll be in better shape if Brees lands in Miami.

They went through 3 qb's last year and had to bring in vinny testaverde because it was so bad? :)

I think they need a solid backup and incase Pennington goes down again.

Back up nothing. The Jets will get a steal by picking up Ramsey. He hasnt had a serious injury in his career. Isnt scared of a hit because he has taken them before and gotten up like a man. He has a cannon that can reach down field (Pennington has the arm of a 12 year old girl) and he came from Tulane, he is smart. The development he needs is to check down more, and not stare his target down before throwing at them. Ramsey could be good if someone invested the time and effort into him. We chose not to. he came into the league at the wrong time, to the wrong team. Wrong place wrong time for him, but if the Jets sure up their O-line and get Ramsey, it will fix a lot.
