Sorry another agnostic here! I might know this one.

I think Satan is there to seduce and such - make sure people end up in Hell. I think his base of operations is here on Earth mostly, not in Hell. I could be wrong though.

A brief history of Satan:

Satan, who's name means adversary, is a being who was once an angel, as a matter of fact the top one, a Cherubim. His job was to test peoples faith such as can be seen in the book of Job. But he rebelled against God and was cast out, but not before he took many angels with him. Contrary to popular belief, he does not live in or rule Hell. He is called Prince of the Power of the Air or the Prince of this World or Earth. He lives among us, encouraging sin in the world and waging war against the saints, which is anyone who has recieved Christ as their savior. In the end Christ will triumph over Satan and cast him in the Lake of Fire along Hades (which is not Hell by the way),Death, and those that have rejected Jesus Christ's offer of salvation.

I guess I can understand that. It just seems to me like escapism to me. I don't think God wants you to close your eyes to the world he asks only that open your heart to the Lord. Too often it seems like Christians seek to seperate themselves from reality instead of doing as commanded and attempt to make it better.
You're absolutely right Destino. Too many Christians hole up somewhere. Soon they only have Christian friends and start regard everyone else as heathens to be ignored. We are commanded in Matthew 28 and Mark 16 to go out into the world, preach the Gospel, and make disciples. Jesus himself ate with tax collectors and prostitutes. Can we do any less? We must not become like the pharisee's. It is the sick who need a doctor not the well.

They surround themselves with christain things to keep there lives with god strong, Many so called christians just go to church on sunday call themselves christians and go home beat there wives look at porn smoke dope get drunk. stuff liek that.
To each his own, I really don't fit in with mainstream worship. Too much about the method of worship and too little about the action and belief.

"And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men....when thou prayest, enter into thy closet and when thou has shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret...."

I'm not passing judgement but this line has always appealed to me. Something about folks with faith strong enough to prove it without even needing to even mention it that I find easy to respect. There are just so many clowns covered in stickers, loaded with the music, and always ready to point out what they are that seem to have missed the point entirely.

Exactly Zguy. The media loves to talk about every Christian that trips up but no one ever talks about the thousands, maybe millians, of dedicated souls out there living in with the poor in the worst of places aroudn the world. They show the power of faith by example and action. You got to respect that.

I don't really do Christian reads and the such - though I did read much of the Left Behind series. Stopped after the books slowed down and it felt like they were just trying to stretch the story as much as they could to make more best sellers.

This does however bring up a good question. Why do some Christians surround themselves with purely "Christian" things? Suddenly popular music is replaced, reading choices as well, etc etc. I'm a Christian and have never felt the need to give up popular artforms.

For me it is to try and keep the proper things in perspective.

Mostly for me though it is a Worldview issue. I don't like to watch news shows of someone with a different worldview than mine because I get annoyed. Music goes with me everywhere, I don't want to be annoyed driving down the road.

Have you checked out my way of the master link in my sig?

I love that program.

I had never seen them until this week when my evangelism course made them required viewing.

I wasn't all that impressed. I don't think there methods are all that relevant to a world that doesn't understand what sin is. Maybe they get into it in later episodes.

I did enjoy it despite my lack of being impressed though. If I knew when it was on my TV I would make sure to watch it regularly.

I have something, what is your motivation for being a Christian. To Praise God or not to go to hell. There is no wrong answer.

Great point. When I was younger and just accepted Christ as my Savior, I had a fear of hell. But as I've grown older, and witnessed the presence of God in my life and the impact of the Holy Spirit--through prayer and experience, my motivation is to Praise God. I need Him everyday. After 12 hour workdays and in the process of moving, I need His strength just to wake up and get moving, and continue throughout the day. He is my mainstay. When my parents died, He was my only hope for surviving without them, and the hope of seeing them again. I praise Him all the time for saving me from the depths of hell in my life---from alcohol (which almost killed me), and 2 bad relationships. There is no way I'd be sober today without the guidance and strength of God in my life.

I abhor the stereotypes that people, moreso from athiests or agnostics, give Christians---like you are Pat Robertson or something, or you blow up abortion clinics yourself, or that JUST because you pray to a loving God to guide your own life, you are somehow thinking you are better than them because they don't believe in Him. That is horse-crap. There is NO way I would kill any other person (ok, unless in self-defense or something, but you know what I mean), or condone doing so. And I do not call myself 'righteous' just because I'm a Christian. I am blessed to have Jesus in my heart & my life, and to have a relationship with Him, to have the right to read the Bible and believe it, and I am not someone to go knocking on other people's doors. I haven't even been to church but a few times this past year. So, I wish others who judge us and in effect claim we are judging them, just realize what hypocrites they are.

But alas, I know it won't happen. Because these things will just get worse, and we will be persecuted even more because of our faith. In that case, I should take pride in this persecution for Jesus' sake, as Paul said. It's truly an honor. Although sometimes it's hard to feel honor when you are being ruthlessly called a mindless drone. :)

I'm Sorry...But I disagree with the thread title alltogether...!!!

We should invite those that disagree....It provides communication...Gentlemen...These Athiests and others are just simply lost and confused...!!

Being brought up by Parents who didn't care,to hanging around the wrong people more often then they should...

They are just simply lost.....They either have no knowledge of JESUS or simply very little...(Specially the young one's)!!!

Jesus is being evaporated from our schools, courts,Christmas and fellow neighbors....

If this isn't a sign of the "end of times", then I don't know what is?"

Preaching may a be the normal solution to make people believe? But in this Day N Age,It's going to take something a little more creative!

What's the answer...Well...I don't know? But If I had to guess....There's a book out there called the HOLY BIBLE that might help a few people! This isn't preaching mind you....These are historic Facts...maybe they need to see a miracle?

But in honestly....They just need to lose the Pride that they have towards Christianity and their opinion towards Religion in General and for once LISTEN to someone (NOT ME) that knows the word of GOD...

But one thing I do know for sure!!They don't have very long!!

this thread is about christian fellowshiping with some peace... nothing wrong with that. We had numerous threads where debate/evangelism or whatever you want to call it takes place...

Yeah, I agree. And excluding them from our threads might be lowering ourselves to their level, and give more amunition to the fictitious cries of "intolerance".

I was not there for previous spiritual debating threads.

The venom I felt in that atheist thread really hit me hard that it is the end times when people are so vicious just because you share your beliefs. Sharing my beliefs is not equal to cramming them down someone's throat. I can't believe they are so bitter about that. Well, they say anger is a cover for fear or depression.

anyone going to check out this movie?

http://www.endofthespear.com/

I would love to see it, but its not playing near me. I have seen "Beyond the Gates of Splendor" though. Its about the same story, but without any artistic license.

http://www.beyondthegatesthemovie.com/

It's amazing how those guys could have shot the Waodani with their pistols but they did not. They refused to defned themselves. Wow. That's faith.

That's surprising to me. I use the WOTM all the time. Actually I use it about 99% of the time for direct witnessing. Trust me it works. It really helps people understand what sin is, how we are all transgressors of God's Moral Law and that only through Christ are we made righteous. Watch the first 8 episodes and check out the sites: http://www.wayofthemaster.com & http://www.livingwaters.com/

any christians on here believe that a good and devout Jew, Hindu, Budhist, or Muslim can also go to Heaven?

and if Hitler accepted Jesus does that mean he is in Heaven?

One of the other men behind Jesus on the cross was a thief and he was about to die for it.He told Jesus to remember him when he came into his kingdom and he told him this day you will be with me in paradise. So if hitler repented i would say yes.

Sure, they can go to heaven...as long as they repent of their sins and confess that Jesus is the Lord.

The thing that gets me is people that do not believe in god or jesus but they celebrate Christmas....

At this point it's an American tradition, not just a Religious tradition. Besides, seeing as how Christianity stole most of the Christmas traditions from the pagans, it's hardly appropriate for you to think Christians should have sole possession of it.
