Of the three TSN experts that are laying down their picks now, two, Bahr and Spanier are picking the 'Skins. The guy picking the Iggles is that retard and twit-looking geek Vinny Iyer.

Here's a pic of this fool . . .

Why To Watch

Left for elimination just a month ago, the Redskins have reeled off four consecutive wins and put themselves in commanding position for an NFC wild-card berth. They will need to win this game, however, to seal the deal. The Eagles meanwhile are facing their first losing season since 1999.

Washington has lived off the Mark Brunell to Santana Moss connection for most of the seasons, but with defenses overcompensating and rolling coverage to Moss, other players have come to the fore, namely running back Clinton Portis, H-back Chris Cooley and fullback Mike Sellers. Spreading the ball around has made the offense less predictable and kept defenses on their heels.

Defensively, the Redskins are led by an athletic linebacker corps and a secondary that features tough safety Sean Taylor and a trio of solid cover corners in Shawn Springs, Carlos Rogers and Walt Harris. . . .

Philadelphia's offense has been decimated by injuries and the Terrell Owens incident. Quarterback Mike McMahon holds the reins but has been less than impressive. On the bright side, the team may have found a running back for the future in rookie Ryan Moats, and rookie wide receiver Reggie Brown has gained valuable playing experience. . . .

The Redskins are in the middle of an impressive run, including defeats of the division rival Giants and Cowboys. If they can finish the job against the Eagles this weekend, they will be playoff-bound.

Redskins Keys For Success

1. Be aggressive offensively. When Washington has all of its personnel healthy and playing well, its offense is hard to stop. Moss and Portis are big playmakers everywhere on the field, Cooley has become more than just a safety valve and Sellers provides a nice goal-line target. Utilizing all four players often in different situations will spread the Eagles' defense and make them account for all kinds of plays, creating single coverage and mismatches that will help the Redskins put points on the board.

2. Protect the ball. During the team's current four-game winning streak, the Redskins' offense has only five giveaways. That has improved over the six turnovers they committed in the three-game losing streak that proceeded, but if they hope to win the season finale and find their way into the postseason, they must eliminate these mistakes. The Eagles have an aggressive defense that has 26 takeaways.

3. Be efficient in the red zone. The Eagles are giving up on average 24 points per game this season. The Redskins must take advantage of this by scoring touchdowns instead of field goals when they cross the 20-yard line. With a stable of backs led by Portis who can both bull their way between the tackles for tough yardage and work as short-range receivers, the Redskins have the talent to consistently put up more sevens than threes.

Eagles Keys For Success

1. Protect McMahon. The Eagles have given up 18 sacks in the past four weeks with McMahon and Koy Detmer at QB. Washington will blitz regularly to put pressure on McMahon with linebackers Marcus Washington, Lemar Marshall and Chris Clemons. Philadelphia's offensive line will need to do a better job of picking up blitz reads and assignments this week. Look for maximum protection and shorter drops with quick routes to get the ball out of McMahon's hands and keep the QB out of harm's way.

2. Apply defensive pressure from the edges. Ends Jevon Kearse and Trent Cole will challenge Redskins offensive tackles Jon Jansen and Chris Samuels and should be able to use their speed to break into the backfield. At the least, Philadelphia will call upon its ends to play contain, taking away outside runs and forcing the ball back to the interior.

3. Convert on third down. The Eagles have converted only 33.7 percent of their third-down attempts this season. With Owens and Brian Westbrook not playing, they have been unable to move the chains consistently. The Redskins will stack the box in an effort to stop the run first. Philadelphia must find a way to get the ball out on the perimeter and gain good yards on first and second downs in order to create manageable third downs for McMahon and the passing game.

The Bottom Line

Washington will establish its running game and spread the ball around, stretching a Philadelphia defense that already has been thinned by injuries and inexperience. With McMahon at QB and limited talent around him, the Eagles will have little chance of matching the Redskins' offensive output.

Pick: Redskins 28, Eagles 14

I'll repost, in part, what Iyers wrote about the Redskins-Giants game last week:

Clinton Portis and H-back Chris Cooley are coming off dazzling games against Dallas, while Tiki Barber and tight end Jeremy Shockey have been the backbone for Manning. Barber has more versatility and is running better than Portis, and although Cooley scored three TDs last week, Shockey is more consistently dangerous on all parts of the field. Both teams have injuries in their front seven, but with Barber and Shockey, the G-Men are in better position to take advantage. Giants 20, Redskins 17.

He clearly knows nothing.
