Everyyear, we could be 0-6 and and some of you would be like "well the season's gloomy but its not over. We can still turn it around and make the playoffs at 9-7...all we have to do is win a few on the reoad and our home field advantage will let us sweep our home games. We're gonna rock and win 9 out of 10 and finish 9-7 and make the playoffs" Regardless....homers aside...here is just a fact whether you want to label it as an opinion. If your lose 4 out of 5 games, you don't make the playoffs. Championship teams don't lose 4 out of 5 games unless its early in the season and they were without a bunch of starters who got healthy as the season went on or something like that. The Redskins have been healthy and have had their bye week and they have already won TWO games that they could easily have lost. This team has lost 3 out of 4 and could easily be 2-5. As Parcells always says "you are what you are". This team "are" an inconsistent team filled with a bunch of no name guys and coached by people who don't label people as starters because they think EVERYONE is equal. Well, in the NFL that doesn't work real well. Players play...and coaches coach. But the players who win are STARTERS. Do you think John Smith will be relieving McNabb once in a while because McNabb isn't a starter? Do you think Mack Johnson is coming in to spell Trotter for half the plays because Trotter isn't really a starter? And I doubt Bob Twilley comes in to replace Westbrooke because all running backs are the same. Philadelphia has solid coaches and some great players. They haven't won 4 titles in a row on luck. The Redskins can't seem to win in their own division. Thats not even an opinion, thats a fact...at least until they start doing it. Losing 4 out of 6 or 5 out of 6 every year is a statement...and it says your team sucks. Thats why the Skins have been drafting guys like Sean Taylor and Carlos Rogers with top 10 picks. If the Skins are going to win THIS year...regardless of what the homers post, this game will have to be won. If they lose, this season will be gone and the Skins will not make the playoffs. You can mark it down, flag this post, or write it in the sky or burn it in the sand, but this year is OVER if they lose this game. A loss would be tough, but not the end of our season. 4-4 still leaves 8 games to be played. The NFL is all about ebb and flow. We were sky high at 3-0 and now we're on a downward skid. Gibbs started his first NFL season 0-5 before finding the right buttons to push to finish 8-8. Don't sell Gibbs short by making judgements too quickly. This (hard times) is where his coaching genius should be most evident. Gibbs is not in his first season, when he started 0-5. There is a difference. He has experience, he is in the H.O.F. and he has been with this team 2 years now. There are no team meetings and turnarounds coming. If they lose this weekend, they are done. And thats not because of one game, its because they will have lost 4 out of 5 games. However, with that said, if they WIN...yes they can make the playoffs easily by just finishing out at 4-4 and being 9-7. The road will be much easier at 5-3 than at 4-4. Well I think he means to BE a championship team, as of course that should the ultimate goal of everyone involved. I know Gibbs is looking to build for a Superbowl, not just playoffs. Still Im focused on going 5-3, its a huge difference imho. I think if we go out and beat Philly then we WILL go into Tampa and beat the Bucs, putting us at 6-3, however we cant get ahead of ourselves. 4-4 is not the end though, anything can happen.
