  1. Kyle Allen and Heinicke is better than any other fantasy free agent signing that's been bandied about on social media. Heinicke's play in the wild card game alone shows you that we don't have to be flashy to have a quarterback who looks good.
  2. No thanks. I thought we didn't like quarterbacks with losing records who put up big numbers in "garbage time"? He's being paid like he's Mahomes and he isn't. 8-18 against teams with winning records.
  3. He's turned the ball over 8 times in 7 games. He is not avoiding mistakes.
  4. There is no way Cam is coming to Washington. They would have brought him in cheap this year if they truly thought he still had something left. You can rule out Watson too. He has a no trade clause in his contract.
  5. A mobile Heinicke can't be worse than a one legged Alex Smith. If he was truly that terrible, this team would not have cut Haskins when they did.
  6. I don't know if we are going to win or lose, but I can guarantee you that this will not happen.
  7. Honest question: If Kyle Allen never got hurt, do you think this team is the same, better, or worse right now? Identical opponents, etc.
  8. You can't point to a W-L record and pin that on the starting quarterback. During that winning streak the team faced the likes of Ryan Finley, Andy Dalton, and Nick Mullens. Also got lucky enough to have Doug Pederson bench Hurts to play Nate Sudfeld last night. And some of those losses that are attributed to the other starters were games where he played the majority in...and looked terrible. Realistically, this team is 4-3 with him in games where he's played the majority of this season.
  9. Allen has only started 16 games. He doesn't need to become the next Brady. He could become the next Kirk. With a solid running game and shut down defense, that may be all we need. And this isn't even assuming that Allen is "our future". It's just saying that the safe bet is to have him on the roster going into next season. Allen's QBR for his four starts was 73.5. Dwayne's was 30.7. Alex Smith's is 35.7. Allen was far from medicore during his starts in comparison to what we've had.
  10. I would love to see Heinicke start and win Sunday's game to then ignite the "who should start the playoff game" QB controversy.
  11. The odds of Heinicke being some diamond in the rough are slim to none, or else he would have been on a roster already. That being said, it just goes to show you how terrible the quarterback play has been this year when he was the top rated guy via PFF all season and because there are actual murmurs about starting him over Smith (or pulling Smith early if things get hairy) for him against the Eagles.
  12. I think people are forgetting that the offense looked its best with Kyle Allen this season, and that he was specifically brought here via trade. There's no way he isn't on the roster as the presumptive starter (assuming Smith gets cut or retires) going into next year. That doesn't mean they don't draft a guy, but Rivera strikes me as more of a less splash more familiarity type of coach/GM.
  13. Tyrod Taylor would make Alex Smith look like a prime Brett Favre. Matt Ryan, assuming the Falcons move on from him in the offseason, would be the ideal veteran get, IMO. Then Stafford. Hell, I wouldn't mind a Jacoby Brissett type placeholder (I guess Dalton would fall in this mix).
  14. The same goes for people who really want to sign Dak and bring him in. Prescott has exactly 1 playoff win and has thrown for over 4000 yards once and over 25 touchdowns once.
  15. I'm seeing many fans all over the internet who are adamant that the Vikings got a stat padding garbage time quarterback who won't take you anywhere in the playoffs suddenly drooling at the prospect of potentially landing Matthew Stafford last year. It's amazing. His nickname is "Stat Paddford" for a reason. The dude has never won a playoff game.
  16. I don't know how much smoke one has to see to presume fire, but it's still apparently not enough for some people.
  17. Keeping Kyle Allen is a no brainer. I have no issue if they take a QB in a later round if they love the guy, and I also have no issue with them signing a FA to compete with Allen. The options are (ranked from best to worst, IMO): -Prescott -Trubisky -Rivers -Brissett -Fitzpatrick -Newton -Dalton -Taylor Dak Prescott is not worth the money he thinks he is. If you thought Kirk Cousins wasn't good enough to pay what the Vikings paid back in 2018, then you should be adamant against singing Prescott. This also takes into account the gruesome injury from this season. Rivers is too old and also injured, IMO. I'd be okay with a Trubisky or Brissett type to come in and compete.
  18. I'm okay with keeping Kyle Allen and drafting a quarterback in a later round. Hell, I'd be okay with keeping Haskins on the roster going into training camp to see if there's anything salvageable. And I don't mean keeping him with the hopes of him turning into a franchise guy and to start. That ship has sailed. But as a 3rd stringer potential backup? Why not?
  19. If Alex can't go on Sunday, why not just line up Chase in the wildcat? I mean he carried the offense yesterday, so there is precedent.
