Him at at discounted rate competing with Howell for the starting job and Taylor as emergency insurance might not be the worst QB room we’ve ever had.

That would be up there as one of the worst QB rooms this team has ever had.  Howell is the only wildcard on this roster who could be the guy.  And he's the only one I would keep on this roster for next year.

Honestly, I have nothing personal against Heinicke however I really hope he’s not on the roster next season. I’m sick of the circular debate on him, he’s served his purpose here. We need to get better at QB and he isn’t going to bring that to the table. Time to move on.

I think this is why they drafted Howell.  I hope I am wrong, but IMO, they took Howell to be the backup of the future.

You literally said Rivera needs to be fired IF he starts Wentz and they miss the playoffs, which is easy to infer that if he starts Heinicke and they miss the playoffs, his job is safe.  Post better.

His job should be on the line regardless of who starts if they miss the playoffs.  Reading between the tea leaves, he's been wanting to switch back to Wentz for the last few weeks.  He has his chance now.  If the owner's...I mean Mayhew...I mean Rivera's handpicked guy can't take them over the hump and into the playoffs, at the very least he shouldn't be the one making personnel decisions any longer.

“Carson Wentz is one of the strangest dudes I’ve ever seen at quarterback,” said one personnel man who researched Wentz extensively after the 2019 season when it became obviously Philadelphia was going to trade him.

“He’s physically tough. He’ll throw his body around and hang in the pocket,” the personnel man said. “But he melts when he’s challenged and he doesn’t have a tough-guy mentality. He’s not really a leader. I’m really surprised that Frank (Reich) still defends him after all that crap in Indy, like not getting vaccinated and then playing so crappy down the stretch."

“Maybe Frank feels sorry for him or it’s because he has known him for so long … Wentz basically looked like he had the yips. He wouldn’t get rid of it when should have and then tried to make big plays when they weren’t there. There’s a time to be a hero and there’s a time to be smart. Wentz doesn’t get that. He’s kind of a brain-dead heaver.”

Not that KB actually stops posting when his takes

go bad, but it’s more respectable than folks who still show up to tell us the urine is actually rain, and it’s only raining because the sun, the moon, the stars all stink and the Heinicke cloud is just a victim.

Outside of one poster who is saying that Heinicke is "solid", who exactly is saying he played all sunshine and rainbows?  Every single post in here is dragging him.

If Wentz starts and the defense holds the to 13 points and our RB is averaging 7 ypc and we still can only put up 12 points because the passing game is so ****ing bad, despite having elite weapons, then myself and all the others who have been slamming Heinickes performance will also slam Wentz.

You'll just suddenly stop posting in this thread and change the title of it when Wentz is back in and doing what he did for the first 6 weeks.

our offense is capable of averaging over 19.5 points a game

Because you are making it up

You said the offense would score more than 19.5 points a game with Wentz.  I made it up by quoting you.

But lets dig into the numbers.  Last year, the Colts had a decent offensive line and Jonathan Taylor at running back.  In games where they rushed for over 100 yards and Wentz had less than 25 pass attempts, the team was 4-0.  For that 4 game stretch, his numbers were:

    43/74

    58% Completion

    5 TDs

    1 INT

    544 yards

    7.6 average AY/A

Heinicke, in his last 17 starts, has had 3 such games with the same scenario, and the team is 3-0.  His numbers:

    39/63

    62% Completion

    5 TDs

    1 INT

    464 yards

    8.2 average AY/A

The Colts averaged 32.5 points over that 4 game span with Wentz.  Washington averaged 22.6 points per game over the 3 game stretch with Heinicke.  So why is that if Heinicke's stats are very similar to Wentz when the offense relies on a strong run game and limits the passing?  The Colts leading rusher (Taylor) averaged 161 rushing yards, whereas the leading rushers (Gibson/Robinson) averaged 115 with Heinicke.  And this is with a better offensive line that the Colts had than the one operating right now in Washington.

Conclusion: without a homerun rusher and a patchwork offensive line, Heinicke put up similar numbers to Wentz when the main focus of the offense was to limit throws and pound the rock.

I'm saying that if the Oline is playing better and we stay a run first offense and don't put it all on him, our offense is capable of averaging over 19.5 points a game.

In the two games where they relied on the run game and rushed for over 100 yards the offense scored 10 points and 12 points.  6 of those 12 points in the Bears game came from a fumble courtesy of the Bears on special teams.  And the starting center is out for the year.  This mythical thought that Wentz just being re-inserted into the lineup magically making the offense better is baffling to me.

I don’t think it’s that odd that a guy with a starting job is going to gut out injuries more than someone who was just told he’s not in the future plans of the organization. We just inherently expect players to always be on the sacrifice end of situations like that. Just seems like an odd situation since the main reason Mariota keeps getting chances is because he’s known as a good team guy. He’s been benched and been a backup before, for years at a time.

Informed of the decision on Thursday.  Wants to see a knee specialist for an injury that no one knew existed on Friday.
