Still learning after 4 years??
What a bunch of BS. If the players are THAT SLOW the whole scouting dept should be fired immediately

Glad JDR is gone, long time coming.

He won't find it easy to grab another DC position either.

I don't know what Ron is gonna do w/ this D that is any different tho.
At least we won't see Ron standing like a statue motionless as we get our ass kicked. Now we'll see his lips move as he calls in plays THEN stand like a statue motionless as we get our ass kicked

the players did not execute the scheme well, but its the coaches staff to train them to execute it.
That's what gets me...what changed scheme wise from last year? Players are the same. We jettisoned Jackson= Addition by Subtraction. So Forbes wasn't coached up? I read somewhere from a player that there is ALLOT of freelancing looking for turnovers..if that is true..that's 100% on coaching prioritizing the WRONG thing.
Â
I think it's too late to recover...I honestly think Young was a liability and Sweat is/was replaced effectively with backups....we "could" get a clue and play some defense.

Unless there is a big change of coaching philosophy and play calling I dont see whats going to change.
They HAVE to do something with Mayo..he is terrible in space. He's ok close to the line filling gaps but can't cover AT ALL! He's 5 yards off consistently and trailing. I don't know who is the "backup" or who can be brought up from the practice squad but you can't leave him out there like they have. The Hawks picked on him all day long and he was constantly burned....
Â
Is there another option here???

I’m telling you… I have this feeling we may be counting Ron’s demise too early. Losses like today make it more likely… but… we’ll see.
If Harris was watching at all, he saw the contrast between and good and bad coach. Carroll was walking the sideline/chewing like a madman/ and TALKING to his players. His aggression clearly transmitted to the field. You could see his players talking trash/getting into faces. Then look at Rivera...standing like a statue/no emotion/disconnected from his players and disengaged from the field(game management)...No aggression whatsoever. Rivera is placid and his team mimics that. He is NOT Tom Landry...no even close.

Mayo again out of position...we HAVE to have a better LB than him

Definitely picking on Mayo. He won that time

Solid points but I was hoping EB would be a bigger upgrade over Turner. Hes better but not by much. And Im curious how different the offense would look under Turner with a stronger armed QB.
Turner was predictable..EB uses motion allot better and gets mismatches. I just remember Turner running into the teeth of the D and NOT using screens and edge plays (I remember screaming at the TV on several occasions). I enjoyed the play selection the last 2 weeks. Turner would have never schemed that up

This defense has been ranked 4th 25th and 7th the last three years...i dont get why people think JDR is some inept idiot top ten defense in this day in the NFL is pretty dang good imo. Its not realistic to have a defense over perform several years in a row anymore, there are too many ways to keep drives open and offenses are just simply too good these days.Â
I think JDR is/was arrogant on 3rd downs. Opposing offenses knew he would only rush the 4 (or maybe 5) and had protections to counter exposing our weak LB's coverage skills for easy 3rd down conversions OR they baited Chase's aggression and got the check down/RB to the outside...then the D just wore down over the game with these long drives.
Â
That AND by overemphasizing turnovers during training camp they got the DB's jumping routes making them susceptible for double moves and big plays.
Â
Poor coaching...BUT with Sweat and Young gone..maybe the execution of the game plan will be more disciplined.

Actually, he was waiting for the Jumbo-tron to show Sweat signing the trade papers before he believed the trade occurred. Then yelled at the agents for telling him his flag was too late.........

I’m more afraid that trading them gives us a better shot at being competitive…
Just look at last years D when he was out..I agree..his replacement will play the position not the sack angle.

He can't/won't contain....another Arrington with the same life span. Glad he's gone. Remember, the line played BETTER when is was GONE!!

ÂPlus I got the impression listening to Keim that Rivera is trying to make a case behind the scenes for why he should be the guy going forward
Â
I'd be interested in hearing that argument. Can ANYONE give one positive relating to his "football" (Not Culture) acumen? From bad asst coach selection, bad drafting, bad game planning (or lack thereof) and COMPLETE LACK OF OWNERSHIP of team's performance issues. Joe Gibbs he is not....
Â
How can he escape his totally dysfunctional team? He's delusional to say the least

you need to pancake Brown at the LOS. Put someone in his face at the LOS!!! LB/DL..somebody BIG!
-
Ron needs to get INTO the game! Have that Challege ready...too slow
-
Why does JDR not have over the top coverage on Brown????? You can't KEEP doing that chit!!
-
I should be happy but I'm PISSED that we blew the Bears and Giants games calling games for players we don't have! Maybe EB has gotten a friggin CLUE now!

Great series…which makes me even madder cause it’s like they could do this every week but it’s almost like they choose not too.Â
I *think* it's Howell taking the short game vs going for big yards out of the gate. He HAS to be patient and TAKE the 3-5 yard completion and take a deep shot when he sees Terry one on one...Great Series..lets see how Filthy counters

Ron failed by doing nothing. He let JDR and EB run the show. I don't know what he did on Sundays. As far as him being fired..in season..if he didn't jettison JDR he would have. Somebody has to answer for the last 2 weeks. EB is only a year in with what he inherited (bad assets). JDR was given EVERYTHING. For 4 years he got premium draft selections (I gotta believe he chose the players)..then he failed me manage and mature them (Young, Forbes, Davis..etc) I can't think of a worse performance....yes..he had decent late season defenses in years past (still under performed with these assets/mismatched players).
Â
Ron is/was way too late to get into JDR's business which is why he's a bad HC and won't be back in ANY capacity. He sat on his ass and watched as the team deteriorate and ONLY acted out of self preservation...
Â
OK..let him leave with dignity..that is ALL he's due. He should NOT be hanging around this club come January.
