  1. Took longer than I thought, but Commanders showing their true ugly face now with direct attacks on Friedman, including accusing him of "lying to his own mother," lol. You can't make this **** up. They put that in a statement. The buffoons who advise this buffoon are utter buffoons, as is ANYONE who falls for this nonsense. I have no idea what kind of person Friedman is, but all that matters is whether his accusations are true or not. Sounds like he hit a nerve at least.
  2. There is so much behind the scenes that we don't know. These radio hosts and callers like "Neil in Rockville" are commenting on things they don't necessarily have the full info on. Everyone has their "expert take." The only one I'm interested in is the FTC. If they choose to investigate based on what's shared with them, that's all we need to know about the quality of the allegations. And same holds true if they don't.
  3. It also could be seen as him actually feeling GUILTY about what he'd done in the past and wanting to do work that he felt better about under the new regime. No doubt he wouldn't have come forward without being fired, but ... so what if it gets the job done? I guess we'll see. The FTC should at least have enough to investigate now if they choose to, no matter what Friedman's past is like.
  4. The emails are definitely a bad look for Friedman. But in the end, none of that matters. His accusations can either be proven by further investigation or not. It's like during that Roundtable when some of the senators went back and found old tweets from Brad Baker that didn't age well. They had nothing to do with the "good bits" Larry Michael story. That plea to return from Friedman is kind of pathetic, though. Just hope what he provided can be verified. Then none of that will matter.
  5. I would hope that EVERYTHING would be taken into consideration regarding getting rid of him, not just this latest "cooking the books" thing. I'm still amazed that more hasn't been pursued (as far as I can tell) on the cheerleader video front. Why not just subpoena Larry Michael and anyone who worked there during that time and ask them all under oath who ordered these to be made and for what purpose? "Help us, Mary Wan-Jo White. You're our only hope."
  6. The only thing I don't think Sheehan takes into account here is how much Snyder wants the team to stay in his family forever. It's the classic mafia thing. Utter scum at the top of the food chain, but they have this "devotion" to their family that almost exceeds their greed. I put that in quotes because it's really just more narcissism, i.e., "even when I die, I'll still own the team through my family." That's why I seriously doubt he'll just decide to sell on his own and will instead have to be forced out. Especially if his kid desperately wants to "own the team one day." It's absolutely unreal that all these things could've come out and the NFL has yet to act other than that pathetic fine/charitable deduction. I do think the current investigations will likely lead to some sort of suspension at this point, but, amazingly, there probably needs to be more for the hammer to finally drop on this douche. Good news is, I'm sure that more is out there.
  7. Theismann's showboating at the end really pissed off the Cowboys. They got their revenge on Thanksgiving when they destroyed us. But Joey T was just a fantastic guy to have on your team. Easy to hate if he wasn't.
  8. Drama with a franchise QB contract extension. Oh, how I long for drama with a franchise QB contract extension.
  9. Yeah, they never really followed through with that, although they would occasionally show full length broadcasts of major games, like Super Bowls, etc. I think they even stopped doing that, although I also haven't had cable in awhile. They have a lot in their archives, I'm sure. They're just not sharing it seems.
  10. We also have this, which is broadcast footage apparently. Don't know if this was cut for news highlights or if it's indicative that the real game exists somewhere in its entirety. I'd take it in black and white at this point.
  11. It's amazing. Maybe it's an omen that things thought "impossible" can indeed still happen. (Snyder removed, cough, cough.) Either way, I watched the whole thing last night. Was so much fun. I wish they'd kept the commercials in for extra nostalgia, but the entire broadcast is basically here, so I can't complain. Next on my list is definitely the 72 NFC Championship, followed for me by the MNF game in the mud and rain in 1976 where Eddie Brown returned a punt for a TD to win (vs. Cardinals). That was the first MNF game I stayed up for in its entirety, and I'll never forget it. The '75 game would also be amazing, and the '73 Ken Houston stop of Walt Garrison on the goal line. Someone has to have those somewhere. For now, though, this was just an amazing thing to discover.
  12. Thing is, though, I just want a team (for starters) that I can be proud of again, that i don't have to worry about what scandal is coming next or have a guy owning it that I hate so much that I can't separate him from the team anymore. I can take more losing if I can at least get that. It goes beyond winning games for me at this point.
  13. I have been looking for this game for decades. DECADES! It has always been one of my two holy grail Redskins games, the other being the 1972 NFC Championship which has yet to be released. I just now TONIGHT saw that this game has mysteriously just appeared out of nowhere. Redskins vs. Cowboys on MNF, 1978. One of the greatest, most underrated games in the rivalry. Redskins win 9-5. NO TDs scored by ANYONE. It's a defensive masterpiece, with unreal hitting, goal line stands, picks in the end zone and a few Mark Moseley FGs. It also has what I believe to be the first and ONLY time in NFL history where a player (Theismann) SPIKES THE BALL like he just scored a TD when in fact he's just taken a safety to win the game. I remember this game as a kid, and I've always wanted to see it again. I know there are probably some other old timers out there who have also been waiting for this moment. So **** Danya to hell, and go back and take some time to watch a game from a time when the team was RESPECTED league-wide, when the stadium was FULL of insane fans, when there was no such thing as "social media influencers," hardly any commercial breaks, etc. Also, as a bonus, you get Cosell, Dandy Don and Gifford, the best NFL booth in history. Some of the comments between these guys are just priceless as they argue, use big words like "guileful," ask what big words like "guileful" mean and more. Young Dave Butz, Riggins running like a wrecking ball, Coy Bacon, "Tank" McClinton, Coy Bacon, etc. Great time to relive. Can't believe this game has FINALLY made it out of the hoarder zone!
  14. "You have a disease that is going to kill you. Here's your choice. Take this medicine, and the disease will be cured, and we are 99.9999 percent sure you'll be in far better shape than you are now and will be able to enjoy your life again. That said, there is a .0001 percent chance that the side effects of this medicine will also kill you, just like, I don't know, a couple days earlier than if you just stay the course. So, what will it be?" "Mmmmm. I'll need to pray on it ... hmmmm ... tough call ...."
  15. You'd have to be in unbelievable mental pain to choose this as a method of suicide. As far as I know, there are no accounts of Dwayne having those issues. I agree that there are plenty of examples of people who "seemed totally fine" who suddenly took their lives, so it can't be ruled out at this point I guess, but ... just seems like it's a heckuva reach in this particular case when the most logical conclusion is that he made a bad decision to make it across a busy highway and got hit. Guess we'll just have to wait for more info.
  16. That's ridiculous. I'd say the only reason we KNOW about it is that he played on our football team. The reason I CARE is that a young person died in such a senseless, useless way, someone I invested in a bit emotionally when he was drafted and someone I hoped would be successful. I'm not a "cancel everything" kind of guy, so whatever as far as the reaction to that "joke" goes. Sure as hell didn't make me laugh.
  17. I read that and thought it was bizarre as well. America gets dumber by the second, especially when it comes to writing and communicating clearly. Saying he "collided" with anything as a pedestrian is just moronic.
  18. I remember when I was around that age, I wanted to drive about 90 minutes in a terrible snowstorm just to see my girlfriend. My car had crap tires as well. I was out on the interstate, thinking I could make it through anything, and I went to pass this truck. Suddenly the truck shot a bunch of snow over my windshield, I went spinning, spun right in front of the truck, it hit me and knocked me into the other side of the highway. Luckily, there was not much traffic on the road that day, so I didn't get hit by another car and I was miraculously fine, since none of us were going exceedingly fast. I remember when the cop showed up, he looked at me like, "What is wrong with you? You are an idiot to be doing this. You're lucky you didn't get hurt." Never treated snow so recklessly again. Was lucky to have had the opportunity to learn that lesson. I'd imagine it COULD HAVE been a similar situation with Dwayne, where he took a bad risk while feeling the invincibility of youth. Awful that he didn't get a chance to learn from it. What a terrible ****ing waste.
  19. LOL, seconded! Attempts to assassinate Friedman's character publicly coming from Commie Central in 3 ... 2 ...
  20. This is a bad take. People are doing 180s in their beliefs/hopes based on tweets. This guy was a 24-year employee. The idea that he would turn himself over to this level of scrutiny with zero evidence just because he "has an ax to grind" is ridiculously simplistic. Let's wait and see before jumping on the dude and immediately deciding he's some sort of charlatan. He's already gotten online support from former employees there of whom he was the boss. He's also apparently the guy who went to bat for Rachel Engleson when she was being sexually harassed by Larry Michael, actually one of the few who had the balls to actually approach Larry directly and tell him to leave the girl alone. Doesn't seem like a phony to me, but we'll see. If anyone does NOT deserve the benefit of the doubt at this point, it's Danya and its gaggle of lawyers.
  21. I would recommend this approach. It's helped me as well. The back and forth is maddening, and I refuse to get overly excited about anything until I read confirmation somewhere that Snyder is out. Until then, I hope and pray for that moment, but I don't let it control me. I want my team back so, so badly. A team that's meant so much to me for so long. I want to be able to emotionally invest in that team again, no matter what they're called. It ain't happening with Snyder in the driver's seat. I've made peace with that (almost). I refuse to support him in any way, and as long as he's the owner here, the best I can hope for regarding this team is to root for specific players. And I don't even know if that's possible. I know that I hate the new name and consider this an expansion team now with no ties to the past. That makes it easier to step away. And wait.
  22. You'd rather have some diseases than others, but in the end, you'd rather have NO diseases at all.
  23. And to you! I just personally get tired of the people who jump all over themselves time and time again to proclaim, "This will accomplish nothing!" They say it so much and with such urgency that it seems as if they're just afraid of getting their hopes up in any way. Consequently, they contribute nothing to the effort. I remember the same line of thinking when Monk kept failing to get in the HOF. A lot of fans created grassroots efforts to reach the voters directly, with websites, videos, etc. And it helped! He got in, and some of the voters directly referenced those fan efforts. Before all that happened, there was no shortage of people saying, "it won't make any difference." But it did. This is obviously a FAR bigger long shot. No one's pretending otherwise. But sometimes "lost causes" are the only ones worth fighting for.
  24. "Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat." Keep it going!
