  1. Completely agreed on the overhyping of English players. I'd usually be the first to blame the English media for getting carried away with young English talent but I've thought Delph would be a top class talent since he was 18 at Leeds and running our midfield, long before the media hype. Best talent to come out of the club since Milner and he might even prove to be better. Still plenty he can improve on especially with his tackling but I'd have confidence he could slot in to a top 4 club and do well. He's brilliant with the ball at his feet driving through the midfield at pace especially.
  2. He's getting a move to a Spurs/Everton/Liverpool in January or the summer at the latest. I think he's good enough personally. All will be revealed.
  3. Wasn't joking. Delph is a better player today than Gerrard is.. Obviously Gerrard in his prime is close to irreplaceable. Thats not who you are replacing though..
  4. Could see Fabian Delph being his replacement.
  5. If there was still a Suarez or a Torres (in his prime) in the team than yeah I think he'd have something considerable to offer for another season or two max but theres no front man for him to ping those long through balls to at the moment. Those type of partnerships Gerrard used to make with a frontman, being on the same brain wave with them, got the best out of him without a doubt. Prob a good time to move on with Liverpool seemingly in a bit of a transition period. Will be weird watching Liverpool playing without him though. Bit like Man Utd without Ferguson.
  6. Gerrard off to LA Galaxy in the summer according to reports. Not a disaster really is it? Every time I've seen him this season he's struggled..
  7. It really is such a corrupt system. Relegated teams coming down with pockets full are not effected one bit.. Leeds are in a total mess now as it stands. Relegation fears are getting more realistic by the week. Honestly no idea how this transfer embargo plays out but it's been made increasingly clear though to all Leeds fans that the Football League as an organization are as corrupt as they come. Bournemouth's losses as a % of turnover are higher than Leeds' so I struggle to understand how they escape free of any ban. Makes me wonder if the FL has some self interest in keeping the likes of Blackburn, Notts Forest and Leeds in the FL over other clubs such as Bournemouth. Probably the three biggest clubs in the Football League, providing viewing figures, revenue etc.
  8. Well it's from his official twitter page so yeah. Either Pacman or a representative..
  9. Manny Pacquiao ‏@MannyPacquiao 4m4 minutes ago .@FloydMayweather, don't be a boxing humbug. Let's give the fans the fight they want. They have waited long enough.
  10. There is a fair bit of an underlying story there but for whatever reason it isn't as heated as in most countries. Maybe its the laid back persona's of the Spanish. I'm honestly not sure. Agreed its definitely not a rivalry that compares to plenty other rivalries in other countries. Just doesn't have the same passion. Its a strange one though. Theres also too many tourists in both the Bernabeu and Nou Camp for the hatred to really show itself.
  11. I'd prob rank it Real Madrid, Bayern, Chelsea, Barca at the moment to be fair. Could've worded what I said a lot better. More to do with the fact Barca and Madrid have been two of the worlds most successful clubs ever and so are tied to each other through a constant battle for league position and to be Spain's best. The rivalry doesn't really have any other meaning behind it whereas Liverpool-Man u for example it goes as far as music, fashion, industry etc and with Celtic-Rangers it's mainly religion. Obviously theres stuff like the Spanish civil war and stuff but the hatred isn't really as intense.
  12. This is getting a bit petty in fairness. By saying 'It makes us the envy of the football world' it would lead me to believe that you are claiming that the whole world envies Liverpool. I don't know how that isn't understandable. Us=Liverpool, not Anfield on a European night. You believe that Liverpool fans are the best in the world don't you? All I've been saying from the start is that I don't agree with that statement. Well you asked me 'Do you think American's are stupid man?' By just saying "Americans" you're lumping a whole nation under the one question. I still don't really understand what prompted you to ask such a question to be honest. The bottom line is in my opinion you hold Liverpool as a club in far higher regard than they are actually seen by your average football fan. Can we draw a line under this now? I'm actually a fairly nice guy really..
  13. Yeah I get ye haha. In terms of scale of clubs then I'd agree Madrid v Barca and Liverpool v Man U are easily the two standouts. (Milan Derby also up there). Think they'd appeal more to everyone really. Just bigger games to us as we're being fed that football every week. I was just solely talking about hatred between two teams though. You could see a Man U and Liverpool fan meet in the pub for a drink after a game, you wouldn't see that after a Celtic v Rangers game for example. Thats the difference. Wearing your colours to a game as an away supporter is a dangerous move. The passion in the stands is also at a whole other level.
  14. Could make the case for..Millwall v anyone. I f***ing hate Millwall. Think every club does to a certain extent.
  15. Well you clearly said Liverpool are "the envy of the football world". Thats not the case in my opinion. Nothing twisted there. You also said you can't top the atmosphere on certain occasions in Anfield before telling me how Liverpool fans are the best in the world over a number of different posts. Thats also not the case in my opinion. Don't see how I twisted that either. I'm not the type to take offense to silly things but twisting something to throw out the the notion that I see all Americans as stupid is a bit of a low blow...
  16. It's definitely up there in England although Newcastle/Sunderland is also quite big. The size of the clubs doesn't really tie into the amount of hate though does it? If anything you get more armchair fans who don't really care either way who lessen the amount of hate between the clubs than anything. The hate between Celtic and Rangers is unimaginable. It ties into religion to a pretty big scale. Atmosphere is absolutely unbelievable. Without doubt the most 'hatred' between two teams in the UK in my opinion. Hatred between River Plate and Boca Juniors is known to be incredible. Basically River Plate threw away the chance of the league title (Season is split into two mini seasons) so they could rest players for the Boca match the following week. Thats how much it means to either team. Galatasary v Fenerbache would be another big one. Loads more in Italy, Russia etc which go to a pretty intense scale. Barca v Madrid is a massive game but their rivalry is mainly based on being the two best teams in the world. I wouldn't say it's the fixture with the most intimidating atmosphere as you would be lucky to see more than 500 away fans at the ground.
  17. Woah you've twisted that a bit far. So because I don't agree with something you've said, I think a whole nation is stupid? All I find amusing is how you almost seem to think the sport of football revolves around Liverpool. You say they have the best fans in the world without question (atmosphere in the Champions League was the biggest let down ever, Anfield is nowhere near the level it was 10 years ago) You say everyone envies Liverpool as a club and wants to be them (could think of a few teams a bit better off to be honest) Now you say they are part of the worlds biggest rivalry. (Old Firm, Boca - River Plate, and plenty more, football does exist outside of England) Maybe I should let these comments go but I struggle not to bite to be honest when they are so clearly not the case. I respect your loyalty and passion for your club GHH but I'm allowed my opinion on these matters also and just because I don't agree it doesn't mean I'm labeling a whole nation stupid. Thats a tad bit harsh.
  18. Pretty much yeah. I don't think the standard below the top 2 teams has ever been so bad than it is this year.
  19. To be replaced by whom? There is two genuinely good teams in the league. Chelsea and Man City. Man U are a good few steps below them, Arsenal are behind them and then theres the rest of the pack. I've never claimed Man U to be a complete force or anything just a whole lot better than the rest of the teams below them. Not a chance they slip out of the top 4 behind an Everton, Spurs, Southampton, West Ham etc.
  20. Was laughed at by a select few on here for saying Man U were a lock for the top 4 after they got beaten by Leicester.. It pains me to say it but they're quite clearly the third best team in the league.
  21. Delighted for Andy Lee! Khan looking very good here. Near perfect opponent for him though.
  22. 7000 Leeds fans today in the away end against Blackburn. Unreal given our form especially. Need a result today badly.
