  1. Hopefully we can add to his misery next week.... ?
  2. Yea, saw that a while ago. I could not be happier. That's a total desperation move. They are going to have some hard decisions due to the CAP hit unless they made some arrangements with Oakland to eat next years salary or already agreed to some kind of extension with Cooper. He is just not worth a 1st rd pick. I said nothing more than a 5th - may be a little harsh but certainly no more than 4th. But still - that contract. You realize that it's in %, not number of passes dropped. So your statement makes zero sense.
  3. Maybe I was not clear enough in my response, so my apologies. Yes, all signing bonus money is on the Raiders. Also, since they picked up his 2019 option he has $14M guaranteed coming his way - it is 100% salary. His signing bonus has already been paid - will be at the end of this year. If the Raiders release him they owe the entire salary no matter what. What I was saying is that typically when a player is traded the new team assumes that salary. That would include a portion of this years salary. Oakland would still have dead CAP for the remaining signing bonus that was prorated over 4 yrs since the 5th yr was an option. But the salary portion can be negotiated between the teams. My point was the Redskins should not even consider taking that salary on. If Oakland wants to eat it and still trade him top us for a 5th or 6th rd pick then maybe - and I say maybe. I would probably still not do it as he becomes a 1 yr rental unless you sign him to a LTD.
  4. If they release them, yes. But in a trade the team taking the player inherits the contract requirement unless otherwise agreed to in the trade. The team trading could refuse to take the trade unless the original team assumes part or all the salary.
  5. Anything more than a 5th for Cooper and a contract negotiation (Oakland eating much of his $14M fully guaranteed salary) is not worth it. I have seen lot's of analysis showing that WRs are open but Alex is not finding them. Let's see how the gets do once the chemistry gets going. Each week they are getting more involved and Alex is getting the ball to them more. I know it's hard for fans - but the team needs to have some patience and not do a Vinny knee jerk reaction and send a mid to high draft pick for a guy who as at best been inconsistent and is due a huge salary next year.
  6. You need more than one RZ target. In 2016 our RZ production went down in large part because they took Reed away when he was in. He deserves at least a few more games. Also while he did not catch anything he did draw a few PI calls, including one in the EZ (or close). He was being mugged the whole way just so they would not get beat. He needs to get it going but not time to give up by any means.
  7. I am basically where you are however he did draw some PI calls earlier. They were basically mugging him, especially in the EZ. I also saw him getting more involved in blocking, especially when Alex took off. But he does need to find more ways to contribute. Let's see how it goes moving forward. If Richardson emerges as the deep threat we expect, Josh should get some chances. Hopefully he makes good use of them and makes some plays.
  8. Yea, let's react to some adversity by throwing two ****ing idiots in the mix. Again, would have been stupid before and would be stupid now. We could go 1-15 and it would still be stupid as hell to bring those two clowns in. You want to make some changes? Ok, I can see that, especially if they keep playing this way. But look at young guys with some potential. Give your other guys behind the starters more looks.
  9. Season over in one game. Yea, that's logical. Total knee jerk reaction. Still just as stupid to bring them in now as it was before the game.
  10. No to Dez!!! He is a punk of a headcase, never ran good routes and is at least a step slow. Gordon??? Are you kidding me?? The guy is a complete mess. He was not in camp or play any preseason. The Cleveland ****ing Browns do not want him!! Enough said. This team is building a group of guys with the right mentality and character. Guys that are coachable, play hard and work together. Neither of the two above have ever exhibited those traits. They are both idiots.
  11. A sloppy game favors teams that are either well balanced on offense or have a great running game. At least right now the redskins appear to fit that mold. More importantly the Colts are a one trick pony (all puns intended). Luck passes, passes, and passes some more. He threw the ball over 50 times in his first game back in over a year. Also it's not like their D is anything to be afraid of. No a perfectly clear day is exactly what the Colts, not the redskins need. It gives them hope. And we have NO shortage of healthy WRs. Our #s 1, 2, and 3 WRs are 100% healthy. Our #s 5 and 6 went out and they have been replaced by Brian Quick - not great but certainly knows the system so there is no getting up to speed time - and they activated Jehu Chesson from the practice squad who is there mostly so play STs. Since they have 4 WRs it's unlikely they need him to take many WR snaps.

  13. I believe people are over reacting to a single game in terms of WRs. We all love to see the big play. But the end goal is to win, which they did handily. There is no reason to go down field when you are getting huge chunks of yardage underneath. Also, AZ secondary is very good, probably the best part of their entire team. They committed to not let anything get behind them. Which is actually how they have been playing for several years. P Richardson still got behind them once and Alex threw it to him. If they don't hold it's 6. And if you notice there were a few guys with him. Indy is not as good a D in any way. I would expect to see some more shots down field. But if not because they are beating the hell out of them underneath with chuck plays and controlling the clock, that will be just fine. And actually although Alex broke out last year in terms of going down field, he had been getting better each year while at KC. Just last year he exploded.
  14. Hmm.. The pass he caught yesterday was in traffic across the middle after he was interfered with. And I totally disagree about him not being a vertical threat. AZ committed to taking everything outside and deep away from us. To the point that the one time someone got behind them they held instead of getting beat. And they have a very good secondary. But since they did sell out for that the team ran up almost 200 yds rushing. Decisions have consequences. We are way too impatient with some of these guys. he had no first season due to injury. He had an up and down season last year but how much of that was Kirk not giving him chances? None of the WRs really busted out. Just saying may be worth being a little more patient with these guys than one game with Alex.
  15. Just say NO!!!!! to Dez. This would be a Vinnie panic move. They are building a locker room of adults. He is not an adult. And he is a mere shell of who he was. Ever think there is a reason that 31 other teams do not want him either? They have guys on the practice squad they can bring up. This is what building a team through the draft looks like.
  16. Sorry, not trying to be an ass here but I do not see it as a lingering issue when he plays every single game and has the most snaps the year after he had the injury issue. I am a big fan of Jays but I believe he was wrong to show his frustration with Josh. It was the medical team not properly diagnosing the issue. Josh even tried to play hurt and could not go. He was right to make sure he was 100% before playing. He could have injured himself permanently. I am really looking forward to seeing him and Alex working together. For whatever reason it never seemed like he and Kirk were really on the same page. Not placing blame. It happens. QB/WRs do not always have a good rapport even if both players are good. But early word is that ALex and Josh are developing really good chemistry. Should be fun to watch.
  17. I keep Harris and Sims over Quick all day. In terms of the bold - Doctson played all 16 games last year, including more offensive snaps than any other WR on the team. I posted the data a few pages back. I know people like to trash Grant, but it looks like he set to be the #2 target for Andrew Luck. He played pretty well last year despite fans distaste for him.
  18. I added the Pass Defensive DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) score and ranking from, Football Outsiders. Also not perfect but is a bit more broad than yards.Tells a bit different story too. This is not to disparage the data you presented. Thanks for doing the research and posting. I honestly starting looking as I thought it might reinforce what you had. However, it tells a little different story. We face 4 teams (5 gms) against teams with a top 10 passing D last year. If we split them by top half and bottom half - it's 7 games against teams with top half (16th or better) and 9 against bottom half. As I said above though, I think the passing game will be fine. And if the running game can at least be a threat, the offense as a whole can be very good.
  19. Jay's offense is is very well designed from a passing game standpoint. We had no standout receivers last year outside Thompson until he got injured. Yet our QB still had over 4000 and 27 TDs. If they are just the same as last year, something I would consider well below average, we will be fine from a passing standpoint. What will help that will be an improved running game. It will make our QB and passing game in general better. To me, the floor is last year which will suffice. The ceiling is that this could be a really excellent group. Crowder rebounds. Quinn is as advertised. Doctson begins to really reach his potential. Richardson provides the deep threat. Davis,Harris, and whoever else provide timely catches. So to me, more than personnel, a better run game will help the passing game be even better.
  20. It was a 3rd. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/two-weeks-after-supplemental-draft-giants-third-round-cb-reportedly-out-for-season/
  21. Conner Lamb is the most notable. He did not run against 45 or even his opponent - and I am not talking about there were absolutely no ads or anything - that's absurd. What I am saying is that the main thrust of the campaign was more about what he planed to do different not what was win with others. And you putting two things together that I was not discussing. People know what a POS 45 and the republican party. So I agree people are voting against him in many cases. However when you rub peoples nose in it many of those independents and others who voted for him even though they didn't like him but could be convinced to vote against him will dig in. And I am not talking about his base supporters. Talking him down is the same as talking them down in their eyes. And giving constant reminders of what POS 45 and the Republican party is will not change peoples mind. I saw a study the other day that 70% of the people knew he was lying yet 42% still thought he is doing a good job and like him as president. And Doug Jones may have won because of Roy Moore being a despicable human being, but he made it close to begin with by campaigning on what he planned to do.
  22. This will not win an election. They have to stop telling people what the other guy is going wrong and start telling people what they are going to do right. If you play this game the Republicans will win. They are better at it. The Democrats that have won recently have done so by running for what they plan to do not running against who their opponent is or who is in the WH. Never wrestle with a pig - you both get dirty and the pig likes it.
  23. Fair enough but that actually makes the point. With Rogers he is much better. Without him he is pedestrian.
  24. Not saying you - but interestingly enough almost the entire fan-base has been chomping at the bit to get rid of Grant since the day he signed here - the latest Reed Doughty. In terms of specifics, Grant also just had his one and only decent year. Grant was never going to be more than a #4 guy or possibly a #3 guy unless there were injuries. Nice guy - worked his butt off. But he just does not have the skill set to be a top WR. Most importantly - he signed for 4 yrs -$29M! That's >$7M/yr! Sorry, I like the guy and would not have had a problem keeping Grant for a reasonable contract. But for me anything more than $3M/yr maybe $4Myr is too much. Also, Richardson has something you can't teach - speed. That is something that Grant cannot provide. And just plain NO! to Jordy Nelson. Do not need older guys on the wrong side of their career. He has had some injury issues and had a severe drop off last year - and that's with Aaron Rogers throwing to him! Now if you can get him at vet minimum or close to it? Maybe. But he will get much more than that - have you seen some of the other contracts? Watkins - 3 yrs/ $48M!! Robinson - 3 yrs/$42M! Nelson is not coming cheap. I really like this signing and while it looks a little high - in terms of a FAs, it's not a bad contract - especially when you see what Robinson and Watkins got - granted they are much more established - but Watkins is a head case who has not been very productive the last few years and Robinson is coming off a major ACL injury and was a lot more expensive.
