  1. Based on our earlier conversation if that's what you thought I was saying it was not, not at all. He has a very long way to go. My only point was that I could see signs of leadership. He took ownership of his deficiencies and he worked to hard correct them. Guys respect that, a lot. And you could see he had a better command of the huddle and guys were respecting him and starting to work for him instead of going through the motions. To me those are signs he is growing into being a leader. But "the man!", not hardly. Not directed at you, just using this as a launch pad - I think peoples expectations are way out of proportion to reality. We are so hungry for good play that the second I guy makes a mistake or has a bad game - he is a complete POS the rest of his career until the team gets rid of them. He is still very young - and spare me the he is legally an adult crap. As someone about to turn 60 he is just barely out of diapers and his maturity - just like all of us at that age, is still very young. This is a big year for him but the expectations need to be realistic. Even with an amazing season he will still have a ways to go. At least he will be starting with a fresh staff that I believe the coaches will give him every opportunity and provide true support. So much else is made easier if he pans out. That brings me back to Chase - The closer the draft comes, the truly QB needy teams are gong to get more and more nervous. Also, all of a sudden there will be several teams. I will be very interested in seeing what they do. I can truly see both arguments - the argument for drafting Chase is we do not have those blue chop players. While there are no grantees he has ht best chance of any player the last 10 to 15 drafts to be that guy. But if they can get a truly franchise changing trade like say the Hershal Walker trade. Again, I am excited to see where they go.
  2. Only if they think Detroit is taking Tua. Most mocks have Det going D at #3. They are locked into Stafford for the next few years. As for Tua, I know they say he will come back 100% from his injury but that is still a very high level of uncertainty. He may be physically Ok but can he play at the same level? I guess they could trade up to keep someone else from doing it. I like our position. We should have our choice of offers - and staying put and taking Young is also a great option. Whatever the do, this draft will go a long way to showing us were these guys heads are at.
  3. It was part of the conversation going backwards. if you did not say that then fine. Let's move on. I was adding my thoughts to the overall conversation which after you posted that led to discussing of generational talent. Better to end here. I withdrawal from the conversation.
  4. That appeared to be the conversation. If it wasn't the fair enough. But why did you list them if not to make that argument? Honest question.
  5. I believe while all those were considered best in the draft class or close to it, if I remember only a few were touted as generational players: Peppers Now Young Garrett Clowney The rest were expected to be really good but i do not remember anything close to generational. In Clelin's case he was a bottom 1st rd talent for almost everyone except for Oakland who for some reason thought he should go #4.
  6. I disagree about leadership. The highlighted are in fact signs of leadership. Taking accountability for your own actions is the first step. Guys respond to leadership by example. I am not saying he is a finished product in any way. But I do think it's fair to say he started to shows some signs of leadership as the season went on and he was given more of a chance. Again he has a long way to go but to say we have not seen any improvement in his leadership I believe is not accurate.
  7. I don't think anyone is forgetting them - I know I am not. At the time - I had not seen a list of who else died. And this being a Kobe Bryant thread - that was the focus. But fair enough here is everyone who died. I do feel just as bad for them. In fairness those families are asking for privacy and all are part of the basketball family. John Altibelli is a long time College basketball coach. Peyton Chester was Gianna's best friend and a teammate. She was with her mom. No other info on her. Christina Mauser was the head coach of the team Gianna was on and is survived by a husband and 3 small children. The dad has spoken out.
  8. I feel really bad for his now widowed wife and his other kids. Losing a husband (spouse) is bad enough but to also lose a child at the same time has to be a worst nightmare come true. The last thing in life a parent wants to do is bury one of their children. And his kids now have to finish growing up without their father and a sister. My sincere condolences go out to his wife and children. A truly horrific situation.
  9. In fairness I don't really follow the prediction of where players will go - but when I have with Walter Football - which again in fairness has been 4 or 5 yrs - there were not close. I may take another look. I honestly pay more attention to the player analysis which is why I like Dane. I also like Lance Zierlein. I like how they break down player strengths and weaknesses.
  10. that’s interesting as I find Walter football to be one of the worst. I May be alone. I like Dane bruglar. I know that’s not the right spelling. There are a few others. But he is my go to.
  11. I disagree with some but agree with other parts. What is the common theme for Martin and Castro? They have at least one All Pro next to them. Decastro has Maukice Pouncey. Martin has Travis Frederick. I assume you mean Quentin Nelson - he plays LG. Maybe you meant Brandon Brooks? He had Jason Kalce - who also in an All Pro C. He also had Lane Johnson at RT so he had every opportunity to be successful. All Pro is given by side and with Martin, Castro and Brooks, all with All Pro Cs next to them, it will be difficult for Scherff to break through as All Pro where Scherff has had such legendary Cs as Kory L and Chase Roullier (who I like OK but he is not going to challenge anyone for Pro-bowl much less All Pro -at least not yet. He could develop.) Not to mention the mountain of injures on the Oline including his that keeps there from being any kind of continuity. This team and especially the oline have been tops in injuries 3 of the last 4 seasons. Now the money part - you (not you personally, you in the abstract) can't look at what players are making now and say - well he was #9 so he should not get more than the #9th rated Guard. He will get at least top 5 money if they want to keep him. That is simply how the NFL works. Having said that, a lasting legacy of Bruce is that he should have extended Brandon last off season. This is how professional organizations do. had he done that, with him coming off injury, I believe he could have gotten him a little bit lower. Now, about to be a FA, Brandon will command more money - someone will pay him top money. So now they either pay him or get in the same franchise tag situation as with Kirk. Just for reference, overthecap lists "oline" franchise tag number at about $16M. They did not differentiate between T and G so for G it will likely be a little less. There is much more convoluted equation now that includes a % of CAP component. Don;t be surprised if the sign Brandon for something around $14M/yr, or even a little more. Someone will pay him that if not the Redskins. At the end of the day do you want to lose even a "really Good" player that may not be elite over what will amount to a few $M? I personally would rather them make a statement that they plan to take care of internal players. Show some loyalty even if it does cost a little more than you normally would had the process been handled properly.
  12. To be honest I am most excited to have Jack Del Rio as the DC. He has been successful everywhere he has gone. I also believe tat means we will take whoever he believes is the best defensive player in the draft and that should be Chase Young. His defenses have all had a truly dominant pass rusher along with other strong parts to make a ruthless Dline. To our sack totals - I agree the number of sacks by the team do not really tell the story - my problem being when we really needed a sack, we could not get one, like on 3rd downs. We would get them on 1st down and then give up a 3rd and 15. In fairness that may just be my perception but it sure looked that way to me. i look for a much more active Dline. There are a few guys whose career is abotu to take a different trajectory then it looked like they were headed. The talent is there. Just need someone to make it all work. I believe Jack is the guy.
  13. I get it. But you can also get uber rich by hitting a few decent businesses and be less likely to go dead ass broke... 🙂 Anyway, as i said I would not be devastated if they sit tight and draft Chase. I will be whooping and hollering and excited just like everyone else. If his game transfers to the NFL he certainly could be a beast. And we do need some of what Scot M called blue chip players. I like to see local kids come home too. I will happy either way. The only way I get pissed is if they don't take Chase and they don't trade down.
  14. Ok, so the first time (and the next two) that i watched the Clemson video it looked bad at first blush. However, I decided to take a closer look because it really does not match the rest of the season. A few take aways - He had a better game than appears when just watching at regular speed and not isolating his play. The do run away from him a lot on running plays. He was doubled and tripled a lot, especially in the first half. He got to the QB a bit more than it appeared at full speed. . However, it was still not his best game by far. He had some problems. As the game went on he started getting blocked 1 on 1 by the tackles. He was trying to get around them and they were riding him out of the play without help. Also, he got caught flat-footed on some pitch plays that went right at him. I did see him give up on a few plays or look un-enthused but in fairness none of them had any impact - he was so far from the play it really didn't matter. Having said that I would still like to see him hustle even if he thinks he is out of the play. In the end, I did not see anything that should keep Wash from taking him #2. He is still an athletic freak and already has good control of his body and can make multiple moves. He is also still young (no pun intended). He will turn 21 in April. Lot's up upside and still room for his body to mature. But i am sure they will use this video as a learning opportunity. For me, and this will not be very popular - I would like to see them trade out of the pick - yes even if that gives NY CY. But not just any trade. It has to be worth it - like a few additional 1sts either this yr or next and a few other picks - or maybe a player. I would have no problem if they stay put and pick CY. But if you could get a few teams in a bidding war, you would have to consider a trade. I just hate putting all that into one player. One bad knee, and the entire resource is gone. Get multiple picks and you have a much better chance of having impact players.
  15. Ok, someone has way too much time on their hands... 🙂
  16. I know people like to slam on Jay and some of it was justified. But his offense got WRs open. How many times were wide open WRs missed deep. Those are game changers. The recs were open, the QBs could not find them - either poor passes or poor blocking resulting in a check down or a sack. So hearing "Scott's" offense gets players open is not of much value. Is he given a QB that can make the plays - and can he coach them up along with the QBs coach. Again, I like Zampese - not just because of name. He has some good QBs work on his resume. But will Scott and Haskins or whoever get on the same page and work like a team. I hope so. We also really need to rework the Oline. I said this elsewhere - ask Trent one time, look at the changes are you in or out - it's a yes/no question period. Anything other than yes is a no - there are no well if, if. I like Trent and feel like he was mostly justified but with these changes if he is not in 100% then move him - like dumbass bruce should have done last off-season. We could be going into this draft with at least another 1st or 2nd or maybe even both seeing what what Miami got for Tunsil. Cut/trade do whatever for Moses. Time for him to moses on down the road. I would like to keep Scherff but now you would have to pay top $. Not interested in that - ty again bruce you stupid ****! Get a LT in the draft and possibly a G. Then pay up for a FA Right Tackle if it's not Christian.
  17. Yes, I would have preferred an experienced OC with a solid track record like he did with Jack Del Rio on D. Here are a few reasons: 1. Outside a year or two, Rons offences never scared anyone. It was always the D - which is fine. But coming to a new situation you should want to fix what didn't work too well at the last stop. 2. Ron R is taking on a lot more responsibilities. If it were me, I would have preferred someone with enough experience he would not have to deal with as much of the day to day stuff so he can work on the overall culture more. As for giving him a shot - if he had much of anything in his resume to suggest he could even be a good OC, But I am not seeing in. Mostly non-descriptive stops at multiple teams, only one lasting more than 2 yrs. Again, I hope I am wrong.
  18. Yes I watched the games. The offense was OK the first two games then they lost the 2nd string QB and they had to go with the 3rd. I would buy that better than blaming the TOs. But this is honestly not the point. It's 4 gms. We are giving the keys to the offense to a guy with 4 gms? And 4 gms that you have to make excuses for poor performance? And 4 gms that there is no way you can know if that's "his" offense. You can't install an offense is a week. So attributing what they did those last 4 gms as "his " offense is a bit of a stretch. If we need Norv then he should be the OC, not Scott right? Either he can do the job or not. Again, i get i am being a bit contrary here - and i wish Scott all the best. It's the best interest of the team for him to be successful. But I am just having a hard time connecting the dots here on all the enthusiasm for this hire. I will lean on In Ron we Trust for a while. But they better produce.
  19. Admittedly being a bit of a contrarian here - but where did he get this from? The 4 gms Turner was pretty much a disaster as OC in Carolina? 32nd in pts/gm 10th in passing - 27th in rushing. And was that even his offence? You can't install an entire new offense in a week. At best it's variations of the offense already installed. Or is it from the last two season of his dad's offense? If so, Total Yds --> 2018 - 10th - 2019 - 19th Passing --> 2018 - 16 - 2019 - 20 Rushing --> 2018 - 4 - 2019 - 14 Points/GM --> 2018 - 14 - 2019 - 20 So that offense was average in 2018 and got worse in 2019. And he has brought over almost the entire offensive staff that underachieved. So far the only positives I see for Scott is that he is not KOC and his Dad is named Norv Turner who at one point used to be a good OC. Sure seems there is a lot excitement for a guy without much on his resume to indicate he will be a good OC. In fact he has an additional big red flag for me in that he seems to move around every 2 yrs or so. And before anyone says anything, I was not and am not a KOC fan. I am pretty ambivalent to him - really have no feelings either way. You will not find any posts with me pushing KOC. Ron wants him so he gets a little bit the benefit of the doubt here overall - but I have my concerns about this offensive staff he is putting together. I like Zampese as he has a good resume for the job he is being hired for. Other than that not really sure. I hope Scott is amazing along with the rest of the staff! Nothing would make me happier but color me less than enthused about this hire on the face of it.
  20. What has Scott Turner proven? I have no problem moving on from KOC but using the reason that he did not have enough experience can't be the reason since Scott has less. So why is Scott a better candidate? Not directed at you - more a continuation - I have no problem with Scott if that's who Ron R wants. But let's not pretend it's because he had a better resume than KOC. He has a longer resume but no more OC experience - in fact over a 15 yr period, his first chance at OC at any level was the last 4 gms of this season. And he did a pretty crappy job of it then - in fairness it was under less than ideal circumstances but the same could easily be said for KOC. Also, Turner, dad or not, has never lasted more than 3 yrs at one place and that was just one time - the Vikings who kicked him to the curb despite coaching up several QBs including Keenum with Bridgwater out, but as QBs coach not OC. I really wanted a grizzled veteran. But in Ron we trust for now. I will root my ass of for Scott to be awesome!
  21. i simply said I was a little disappointed. I then also said I want who he wants. No need to be defensive of his pick. I simply was hoping for someone with experience. It did not happen, so fair enough. He is the man in charge. I hope the best for him because it's the best for us. In Ron we trust.
  22. You are correct. Scott Turner has an even less impressive resume than KOC. He has exactly 4 gms as OC. During that time his teams were 32nd in pts scored (15/gm) - yes below Wash, 10th in passing so OK (244) - but they were behind a lot. Lot's of garbage yds since they were also 27th in rushing (93). So he only has 4 gms as OC and those games his teams were garbage. And the team was 0-4 during that time. Very little experience - check, poor performance in that short time - check. losing record while OC - check. I want who Ron wants. And it's clear he wants a guy he has worked with, which is fine - but having success or experience is not a priority apparently, unlike some of the statements being made in here. I will say I am a little disappointed. I really expected a veteran OC if he moved on from KOC. Someone with a good history at OC like Del Rio does as DC. Or, hire KOC - not because I think he is best for the job - but because the entertainment value would be through the roof. But in Ron we trust, at least for now. HTTR!!
  23. I can see all 3 being true. KOC has some interest from a few potential HCs - college and pros - KOC wants to leave - Redskins want to possibly hold onto him, at least until they know for sure who their OC will be. My problem with the statements made about him is that they were stated as fact that he has made up rumors to make himself look good and that other coaches around the league are "disturbed" by his promotion - not sure why they would care - and that no one actually wants him at all. That's some pretty harsh stuff to be stating without facts to support. I have no problem with people expressing an opinion - that's what we are here. I do have a problem with opinion being presented as if it were fact.
  24. I was addressing more that he was wanted by someone more than if he would actually leave for that job or even be formally offered. My point was that despite the opposite claims there is at least one potential HC that is interested.
  25. Can you please provide proof of your statements? I admit I am not on twitter. It's a stain on society. However, there are plenty of guys on here that are and I have not seen anything resembling your comments as being accurate. Where is your proof that "he" had rumors circulating..... Also, I asked before and you did not/could not provide proof that other coaches found it "disturbing" that he was given the OC position. There was also a narrative from you that no one else actually wanted him, but I have seen posts from @Skinsinparadise - who I trust probably to a fault - that Josh McDaniels has KOC on his list of assistants he wants if he leaves NE for HC job. So of the 3 statements, we have verifiable evidence one of them is false. I strongly suspect the others are false also but am very open to being wrong with facts to back it up. What you are accusing him of is some pretty egregious stuff. But I have seen no evidence of him using nefarious methods to get ahead or making up false narratives to promote himself. For the life of me I can't fathom what he has done to you personally for you make up this kind of stuff - unless of course you have proof. BTW: I have no vested interest in KOC at all. He is very short on experience but showed some promise towards the end. Ultimately I want who Ron R wants - period. If he wants KOC then I will trust him. If he lets him go I will lose zero sleep over it as again I plan to trust Ron until he proves to me I shouldn't.
