  1. McCarthy and Rivera were hired within a few days of each other. It'd sure be funny if they were fired within a few days of each other, too. Wow, I'm being brutal, there. 😂
  2. I wasn't predicting McCarthy Blank Stare this early in the game, but I'll take it.
  3. Last week was hard. It feels so good to be able to root against the Cowboys again.
  4. Since Schefter works for a league broadcast partner, I've long assumed he's got the league office feeding him stuff. They benefit from breathless coverage of comings and goings and behind-the-scenes stuff. In other words, he doesn't exactly have to be Woodward and Bernstein to get big scoops; he just has to be discrete and dish out the info he's told to. I could be wrong, I guess...
  5. Historically, I think your approach works better with veteran DCs who come in to run the defense under a new HC coming from the offensive side. Nothing against Reich. Houston might be a good model to follow, but I think it'll be another year or two to see how it sustains when they lose coordinators to other teams. The owners there don't have a great track record that way. San Francisco and Baltimore are probably the best current models of sustainable success, but they're very different. I see the key as being a really good FO that can create sustainability by constantly finding good coaches who fit the team's culture and blueprint. The operation can't hinge on the presence of a single person.
  6. I don't agree with this. The point of having a first-class FO is that there is a constant talent pipeline of coaches moving up within the organization. You want the BEST coaches, and those guys are going to get opportunities elsewhere. That's a good thing. When they do, it's next man up. Let's start developing a coaching tree, not trying to be beneficiary of someone else's.
  7. Slowik and a rookie QB suddenly looks like an excellent combination, doesn't it? The unknown factor with any of these guys is their managerial prowess. The HC isn't supposed to be the guy drawing up the plays or doing the frontline teaching; he's managing the guys who do that. It's a completely different skill set. That's why the interviews are so important.
  8. There still would have been shirtless, drunken Bills fans out there in the parking lot tabling themselves.🤣
  9. Most pertinently, Tepper's habit of firing coaches so quickly is going to hurt him in future searches. The HC job starts to look like a career killer.
  10. I believe it was Keim who said that titles haven't been fixed, but that having Peters as GM gives him room to be promoted within the organization if they like his work.
  11. Absolutely. We'll know on draft day, I suppose. The choice of HC might be a good clue. Ben Johnson has resurrected Jared Goff, so I imagine he could handle just about anything.
  12. Didn't the Commanders say they plan to interview him? It's cynical, but interviewing him satisfies the Rooney Rule, so I'd expect him to get his usual round of courtesy interviews. Based on this year, it's hard to imagine him being hired as a HC, but stranger things have happened.
  13. It'd be interesting to know what Adam Peters thinks of the top 3 QBs. Or, perhaps more pertinently, what qualities he's looking for in a new QB.
  14. As I recall, the speculation around here was that Scot was getting too much credit, and Bruce's ego couldn't handle it. The given reason was some kind of misbehavior, I believe.
  15. I can't imagine any of the top HC candidates would want the previous guy around in any capacity. Seems like a boneheaded move. They're paying Carroll either way.
  16. They've fired their OC, though, which would indicate a complete reset for the offense and, thus, most likely a new QB in town.
  17. I interpret this differently. Somebody has to run the day-to-day during the transition. There's plenty of work to do to get ready for next season. Marty x2 aren't part of the advisory committee, and there's no indication they'll influence its decisions. Once the new head of operations is in place, they'll likely put new managers in place. I'm sure there's already a candidate list in place, and it wouldn't shock me if discussions have happened.
  18. It's tradition to make Dallas wear their blue jerseys, which was supposed to be bad luck for them.
