  1. Who cares? The collective wisdom of randos on the internet (such as me) doesn't mean a darned thing. If Quinn is a guy who Adam and Josh sincerely believe can deliver the coaching needed to be a contender, that's all I need to know.
  2. We've all been hoping for a young offensive mastermind as our new HC, so I'm not going to talk myself or anyone else into loving this pick. That said, there's something to the idea that the current situation in Washington might not be the best to land on the shoulders of a young first-time HC. Putting together a staff, running the day-to-day, teaching positions coaches, motivating and inspired the locker room. Those are things that Quinn has done before, and done well. His overall trajectory in Atlanta doesn't inspire confidence, but I'm going to keep an open mind. That was a different situation, and not all under his control. I don't think you can even put the collapse against Green Bay a few weeks ago all on him. Dallas has been choking in the playoffs every time they've made it since their 1995 SB win. That didn't start with Quinn. The focus now has to be on getting the best available OC and position coaches. They're going to shoulder a higher burden than would be the case under an offensive-minded HC. Welcome to DC, Mr. Quinn.
  3. Everybody's freaking out despite having zero information about what the Commanders are doing right now. I wouldn't be surprised if Adam and Josh expected this process to go differently, but they also don't seem to be rushing to settle for anyone left, so perhaps they don't see themselves as having to settle at all. We just don't know.
  4. An interesting thing to ponder is that the Commanders are the only team this hiring cycle with both new ownership and a first-time GM. I can't discount the possibility that, in trying to be so thorough, they underestimated the need for urgency in such a compact hiring window.
  5. None of us are privy to the discussions going on within the organization about this situation. I wouldn't assume they were set on Johnson or that they're set on Quinn now. We simply don't know, and neither do the radio/Twitter guys. I'm staying calm and trusting the new team in charge.
  6. This "Lamar vs Goff" discussion based on Sunday's results would tend to favor us choosing Maye over Daniels, if that's the choice at hand. Mahomes looks more and more like a unicorn. The guy who can run like no one's business but also play the traditional QB role as well as anyone ever has. He was amazing yesterday--very nearly perfect.
  7. Agreed. Since they're looking for leadership more than anything else, I don't think there's any way they could assess that without in-person conversations. The people involved seem like they'd keep open minds.
  8. Ownership issues Stuck with Geno Smith In same division as 49ers Mired in the .500 rut unless there's a major shakeup Fan base with outsized expectations
  9. I feel really really bad for Lions fans. We've been out of it for 30 years. It's almost 60 years for them.
  10. That was a terrible decision. Let's hope Ben is taking this as what NOT to do.
  11. That was a big stop by the Lions. The offense just needs to take a deep breath and get back to what was working.
  12. I think their hands were forced because Lance was still too raw to lead a team this ready to contend. Lance might be in a good situation in Dallas, where there are no immediate expectations.
  13. That's a big point. Ben apparently doesn't rely on a system but instead coaches to the players he has.
  14. Are we going to have an actual good HC? Sure feels like it.
