Didn’t RG3 immediately try starting his own brand/label within a month of being drafted?  He wasn’t really serious about his craft, but it seems like JD5 is.  Wanted Maye, but the more I hear about this kid, the more excited I am getting.

I think Daniels already has a website selling shirts or something actually. But just like then I don’t think I care much as it’s probably run by parents or managers or something.

I hope he sells enough shirts that he takes vetmin+ for his second contract! Moar shirts!!

I'll give you credit, no matter how many times you're supremely confidently dead wrong you don't shy away from coming in for some crow.

You get that Maye jersey returned back to Amazon yet?

    😁

Woah I am wrong WAY more often then this guy

Yeah because the people on the internet were so wrong when they argued Young was a lollipop guild extra rather than a starting QB in this league, or that Zach Wilson was Milf Hunter, rather than a starting QB, or that Kenny Pickett was --- and Sam Howell was better, or that Mitch Trubisky going ahead of Watson and Mahomes were jokes etc.

There's no evidence at all that the NFL is any good at this, nor anyone else (to be fair). Everyone sucks at QB eval.

Its sounds like we agree, then. My argument is that you could be wrong about what these numbers mean. There may be more to it. You argue the exact same thing about NFL Pros.

I'm not sure why its causing consternation for me to say that I think your numbers lack context and that the team agrees with me. That doesn't make either of us right or wrong yet. You could be right, and they overcome it anyway. The only thing we know is we don't know for sure. We are in agreement are we not?

  4. Dude thanked the student equipment managers for catching passes for him after everyone else was gone. He is a funny mix of proud of himself, pride in his abilities and being intentionally humble. Like you can hear him go out of his way to ground himself the day after he is drafted. I hope he keeps that up I think its important.

How long have you been on this board? People latch onto non football or quasi-character things when they discuss QBs especially. That comes with the territory. Tell me what people think about Jay Cutler after his first year or two and his attitude.

Were you here for Ramsey and Brunell? Jason Campbell and whatever the hell else we were rolling out? Do you have any memory of how harsh people were towards every aspect of Brunell and Campbell and many other QBs? Social media barely existed back then (or not at all for some of these). I'm sure if Mark had said 'we need to get better" after throwing hospital balls all game, he would have been annihilated. I know, because I couldn't stand the dude. I constantly pointed out how Jason adopted some bad habits after being around him and allowing reporters to give him credit on good things and saying "we" when it should have been me. By the end of Brunell and Campbell, people were done. Haskins (RIP) was giving more overt signs but even there people were questioning the pick based on a non-running QB who seemed to play in a system that inflated numbers and he had a bad attitude on draft night of all nights.  That and a family that seemed to be involved in an unhealthy way.  Sort of like RG3's dad may have been, but probably less harmful to RG3 or the team than people think.

Were you on this board when we drafted RG3? I was. There are always detractors and we didn't really have a lot of options after RG3 but I recall people mostly loving the pick and being excited about him as a person (fool me once!) Many of us thought RG3 had a chance to be the best (or most accomplished) QB from 2012.

So when you make these insinuations, it seems like you were born new into the world rather than someone who has intimate experience with what occurred.

Ghost you posted that I had something to say and I should be clear about it. So I made myself clear. What is the issue now? What am I insinuating? That people don’t like him for non football reasons? Is that incorrect? I don’t see the issue.

What exactly are you intending for me to give you with this back and forth?

Why not volunteer more information? I'm getting a sense you want to get at something, and the fact that Llevron seemed to want to touch on it. I know Hooper talked about it directly.

Just come out with it, we should discuss it, at least obliquely.

What? That a lot of you made it clear that you don't like him because of not exactly football reasons like his mom, the way he dresses, the social media (which I also don't like) and how he speaks? Or are we talking about how people kept calling him a run first running QB when basically everyone who watched him told you that couldn't be farther from the truth but still, today, people think that. I mean we tarnished the kids character before we even heard two words out of his mouth and it was predictable.

I have never intended to be hide what I think some people think. I have always intended to give you all the benefit of the doubt and obey the forums rules. I told you from the start that my bias is clear and I try to ride above it. I hope we all do. If w want to make it a focus of the conversation, I'm fine with that too. I dont think its helpful though.

Sort of cool to hear him talk abut being a football junkie who loves to watch it.  Juxtaposed to Haskins (RIP) where I recall a beat guy asking him during camp about watching it and he said something to the effect that he's not a dude who loves watching football, he watched other things when he's home -- something like that.  I recall posting about it at the time.

You can feel the competitive vibe in Daniels in most of his interviews.

I remember cause at the time I couldnt disagree with you more. I was all about having mental time away or something like that.

I think, me personally, I do what I have to do to like a player and hope for the best. Sometimes that blinds me to their obvious flaws.

Yeah I think he's a better all around QB than Fields.....like everyone else under the sun my main concern is keeping him healthy

I think its legitimately everyone's main concern. We gonna have to keep dude up and he is going to have to help. He is going to have to get the ball out really fast to stay healthy. Fortunately, he seems to be capable if he knows what he is doing. Lets get that ****ing VR set going. Today!

That's part of the job -- we fans have been burned before not to be pushed back with the ES'er chants of "In Ron I trust" or "In Shanny, I trust".

Sorry, after all these dismal years , I think trust needs to be earned.  And I see the current FO going the old " Future is NOW" marketing-splash approach, yet again, rather than taking the patience needed to really rebuild a franchise.

His team hasn’t even played a snap yet. You can’t even wait for them to practice? It’s hubris. You got so used to thinking you knew better than all the people who worked here before, that you can’t even imagine being wrong. Over a single pick who isn’t even in the city yet.

The crazy part is understand exactly how you feel. I just can’t believe you are confident enough to roll with it.

An entire career of p2S ratio is not out of context.

Yes, just the raw number IS out of context. I don’t know why you won’t admit it. It’s common sense that the game is not played by the numbers. If it was, you could predict past present and future success flawlessly. The numbers are not wrong. Either they lack context, or they are wrong. They are not wrong.

  11. 1 hour ago, Ghost of said:

So what secret metrics did they have access to that caused them to overlook the multiple ones that don't predict success.

Still no consideration that maybe the statistics you are looking at are taken out of context and mean little? I have been telling y’all that. If you watch the games, that sack % for example is easily explained.

Or they just don’t care. Or they don’t have the numbers and only people on the internet have them lol

I’ve heard this before. You’re not the only one to suggest it. But I don’t like it.

You don’t draft a QB every year. You’re not in position and it’s really a bad way to support a QB.

That works if you hit on a late rounder. Otherwise I think that philosophy is highly flawed. You have to develop them.

Four years. Like college. And then go from there. Sometimes you may need to let them go ahead of time. Sometimes they may “transfer” elsewhere. But four years.

I don’t particularly like it either to be honest. It’s the closest I can get to optimism though.

As we get closer I am feeling more and more gunshy with Daniels.

One stellar season feels Kenny Picketish... and I really, really didn't like Pickett.

His frame is an issue. It just is.

I stand by what I've been saying for months, I do have some excitement over the fact that his ceiling is CLEARLY through the roof. Absolutely sky high. So while I am becoming more and more apprehensive, part of me is excited to see if he manages to stay healthy and grow. If he does, we're going to be really happy for a long time.

But... ya. Apprehensive as hell right now.

IF he fails and it’s injury related, we try again. I don’t feel good with the idea that we just push these guys to the side for the next one but that is the reality. I am all about drafting a QB every season until we get the one  and I bet GMAP isn’t against it either.

But at this point, you gotta take a swing. He has all that talent. Try and make it work and if he fails fine. Sucks. Let’s try it again.

I am smiling at all of this because we are all like kids on our birthday, looking at those presents excited to see if we got the one thing we have wanted for the last 20 something years. We are 3/4 of the way there, new "squared" away ownership and a shot at the new shiny bike!

I like the two of the three choices we have, and all issues have been posted. Maye is my preference but I won't cry if it's Daniels. I realize both of them can be injured on any play so it is what it is.

Ribs are in the smoker and consumption starts now.

    Peace

Tell me how you smokin them ribs tho
