  1. Scotsman who has played a long time for Celtic. He can play in midfield, too, but has been an outstanding defender and captain. He made his way to Blackburn because he's had a career of injuries. I think he's better than a League 1 talent but glad to have him. He takes our free kicks and penalties which is what has upped his goal tally.
  2. Blackburn are 16 unbeaten in the league and now sit in 2nd only two points behind Wigan. Our joint top scorer is defender Charlie Mulgrew with 11. On an impeccable run and a positive vibe back around Ewood that hasn't been there for the entirety of the Venky's tenure.
  3. It was a cup game which most clubs don't seem to take seriously. I don't know if I'd read a lot into it. However, their mental fortitude has been questioned for a bit now so maybe I'm wrong.
  4. Here's my every so often Rovers Report. Sitting in 6th with one or two games in hand (depending on the team) over rest of the league because Rovers still have a fair few International players. Just came off of a 3-0 whooping of Portsmouth.
  5. Vatican City staring line up with the Pope between the sticks.
  6. Mike Ashley is fairly unstable so I'd wait a bit on Newcastle. Though in general I think that any team in the Premiership has the capabilities of beating anyone else in the league for the most part which is why it's such a fun league. Will be interesting for Leicester next year to see how they do since Shakespeare stabilized their situation.
  7. So English Football League Playoff finals are set. Championsip: Huddersfield v. Reading League 1: Bradford City v. Millwall League 2: Blackpool v. Exeter Personal preferences are Huddersfield and Bradford in their respective ties, no real feeling on Blackpool or Exeter.
  8. Yarp. Best of luck on that. It's one thing for your club to just suck but owners that really don't care slowly sucking the soul out of a club is just terrible and leads to hopelessness.
  9. Blackburn relegated on goal differential. In 15 games Mowbray had a 5-7-3 record and had the squad really fighting. Won the last two matches against Villa and Brentford, but it was too much of a hill to climb. Looks like he's staying on for now, which is good. He's brought stability and respectability, but I fear once he sees the owners won't offer any support he'll leave just like Lambert. The owners put out some bland platitude letter but they are the real reason we are where we are. They'll sell off more assets and we'll be looking at a lot of our academy players most likely in the first team next year (maybe not a bad thing). The bright spots of Ryan Nyambe and and Connor Mahoney can hopefully be retained. My fear is that the club will end up losing its Tier One status soon for cost reasons. The youngsters now play in Premeir League 2 Division 2, and to lose that would be another detriment.
  10. Two games under Mowbray and 4 points. Looking positive, but who knows with this club. Tough task facing 2nd place Brighton & Hove Albion this weekend. I would be happy with a point. I think Craig Conway would be a good captain for Rovers (or Charlie Mulgrew, but he has injury issues), but I think Jason Lowe got it when Hanley left because he was the longest tenured player and came up through the academy.
  11. Considering Leicester are in a good position to get out of the Round of 16 I don't understand why they sacked him after that result. A couple of weeks ago I'd have understood it more. I still think it's disgraceful. It really seems like the players just quit and it's pretty shameful. They are supposed to be built for a relegation battle more than a championship run and they completely capitulated. Also, I'm really think Wayne Shaw having to resign is pretty messed up. Sun Bet really should take the fall here. It has no bearing on the game, and the fact that he knew there was a bet about him eating a pie, no matter what he did he was influencing the situation.
  12. Tony Mowbray as the new Rovers boss. He was last seen at Coventry. Coventry. So that's good news.
  13. Owen Coyle and his staff have left by mutual consent. Not even sure who the caretaker will be, Gary Bowyer is already employed by Blackpool...
  14. It's sad how it's become trivialized by some. But seeing Lincoln and Sutton get as far as they have is awesome. And Lincoln beating Burnley is an added bonus.
  15. Kind words. I was following along on my soccer app as we were on the road during the match. Glad the boys put up a fight, as best as we could hope for. Now if we could get more like that to stay up. I heard there was a scheduling snafu on Fox Sports that meant the match wasn't shown or something. I read about it on a blog where they kept talking about how United fans were done wrong with no mention of Blackburn supporters. I was all like "oh" Also, before the match one of the Rover mascots asked the ref not to give any yellows or reds to Rovers and give them all to United.
  16. Maybe a discussion about core fan bases can be had that live in the areas and the atmosphere of stadiums. Perhaps that's quantifiable. But I don't know how we can have the conversation among a bunch of foreigners who watch the matches from afar.
  17. Long periods of suffering do show you're loyalty, but I don't really think it matters as long as you stick. I've come to realize, sadly, that depending on the club depends on your goals and perspective that causes you to feel how terrible something is. For most of us in this thread I think it's a bit daft to call out someone else's fanhood. There's only a few people that I would back down to because they literally grew up in it. The rest of us should just be quiet and sit down when it comes to that conversation.
  18. The draft executive order on immigration reform can be found here: http://documents.latimes.com/read-draft-copy-president-trumps-executive-order-immigration-and-refugees/
  19. Yeah, cause that mess is his fault. Didn't he win manager of the month in the beginning of the year because they punched well and truly over their weight? If anything, despite their record, I think they've done pretty well this year considering the cluster going on there. They appointed Marco Silva as a replacement who has no experience in the league. The players were fighting for Phelan, it's hard to think that they'll push so hard seeing what the owners are up to. Silva, unless he's a miracle worker, will be a scapegoat when they go down as well. What a mess.
  20. Wish we could play Newcastle every week.
  21. Swansea should've kept Monk. Managerial carousels gain nothing, but maybe the next fella can try to stabilize them. It's hard to believe what's happened to that club, but it shows how quickly things can fall apart.
  22. They can have Owen Coyle. Though, they're not a Lancashire club so never mind, he wouldn't want the job.
