  1. My apologies Jumbo, I think it was me that started it. I do realize talk of going back to the original name is verboten, but was unclear whether that extends to all name change talk. I won’t do it again. Would it be OK for someone to start a separate stadium thread about it? With the caveat of no R——— talk, just commanders versus a new name that is more popular with the fans. There are plenty of us that have accepted the fact that the old name isn’t coming back, but still would like to see Snyder’s name go away. Let me know, and I will make sure to follow your guidance moving forward.
  2. Understand that they’ve had bigger fish to fry lately, but I wonder if the owners will say something about a name change now that the hiring of coaches is complete. Since theoretically they will not be meddling in the coaching/GM decisions, there should be plenty of time to at least address the issue and let people know where they stand. Will be interesting to see if they do, because I am getting the feeling that they’re hoping to ignore it until it goes away.
  3. 15th, 9th, and then 2nd…when did they “suck”?? Not saying QB improvement didn’t matter, but seems to me he took them from mediocre, to good, to great in three years.
  4. To each his own. I like the backwards hat and hope he sports it during the games. He’s there to coach football not conform to somebody’s fashion whims.
  5. 1. Kingsbury 2. Kelly Both of these guys fit the mold of an innovative offensive mastermind that everybody is looking for to work with our new QB. It’s like getting a Ben Johnson or Slowick, but with more seasoning. Both were elevated a little too quickly, straight to the head coach position for their first taste of coaching in the NFL. Predictably, there was some adjusting that had to happen. But with that experience under their belt, either one should be even better now at their specialty, which is cooking up a high powered offense. And they don’t have to worry about the rest of the crap that a HC deals with on a daily basis. I do believe either one is an excellent fit to go with Quinn.
  6. These comparisons to Riveraare a waste of time. We have no idea how Rivera would have done with a good GM and no Snyder. I’m good with Quinn, he seems solid. If not, we can switch coaches again in a couple years. That’s life in the NFL.
  7. We should just be thankful we got Adam peters. If we also nail the QB draft pick, the coach won’t matter so much. The coach was always the least important of the three to get right.
  8. I know we have the picks and the salary cap space, but is it fair to say Seattle has better personnel right now at every single position on offense (except maybe right guard)?
  9. Sure I can sum it up… There are rumors that Seattle wants Ben Johnson, and will try to close the deal tonight, so we are all freaking out.
  10. Assuming Seattle comes hard after him, then Johnson and his agent know he is the first choice for both teams. He’s not going to sign a take it or leave it offer without talking to us first. If he does, he needs to find a new agent.
  11. And Elway lost several Super Bowls, before finally winning a couple late in his career on the back of a good defense and running game. You can go all the way back to Fran Tarkenton if you want, running quarterbacks win a lot of games just not the Super Bowl.
  12. True. In this era of running QBs, the best of them—Lamar, Hurts, Josh Allen, Fields, Kyler Murray—have no titles. You can go back 20 years and not find a running quarterback who won the Super Bowl. Maybe Russell Wilson, but I think even he was more of a passer.
  13. That is fair but keep in mind the last time somebody on here kept insisting a deal was done before it officially was, he was claiming Bezos would be the new owner. I think people are just trying to figure out whether you are sharing info as you say or just stating your opinion. Either way, thank you for sharing and I certainly hope you’re right!
  14. Appreciate the thread, Ron does not deserve all the piling on that’s happening. Any coach or exec working for Dan Snyder was doomed from the start. They all deserve the benefit of the doubt because none of them are nearly as bad as the Snyder dysfunction made them look on the way out. Obviously he was in way over his head as a GM, but I still think he can be a good coach in the right situation. That being said, I’m so glad we are upgrading!
  15. I think MacDonald has surpassed Johnson as my number one pick. Ravens D was supposed to be good, but not this good. He has done a masterful job with it. Johnson looks great as well, but how can you not with that great offensive line. Goff has all day to throw, and they can run the ball at will. Any “system” is going to look good with such a premium O line. We should wait it out and hopefully get one of the two. I’d be very happy with either one, everybody else is a distant third for me.
  16. Jay had a pretty good career as an assistant coach and OC before coming here. I don’t get the hate. Maybe he was never cut out to be a head coach, per se, but did he really ever have a chance with Snyder and his idiot clown minions picking the talent? The offense, which was his charge, was actually mostly excellent during his tenure. This, despite being stuck with RG me and his buddy the owner, and then the botching of the Cousins situation. The Defense was abysmal, yes, but Jay has stated that there simply wasn’t enough talent on that unit to work with, and I tend to agree with him. Even Hall of Fame coaches failed under Snyder. Yes he’s done and said a couple of foolish things, but overall, I think he really knows football and would likely still be coaching somewhere if not for the association with his brother.
  17. Wow, a Chiefs fan is the last person who should be complaining because all I’ve seen this entire season is Kelce and Mahomes commercials over and over. If the media has a love affair with anybody, it’s them. San Fran is the top team in the conference this year, so they deserve whatever attention they are getting.
  18. He meant Jay should protect him from the media asking questions about his poor play. That Jay should have his “starting QBs“ back no matter what. Which is not unreasonable, but Jay had to do what was best for the team. We can argue about what derailed RGs career, but at that point cousins was easily the better player. Fair enough. Maybe Jay was a buffoon as you say, but he had McVay and Matt Cavanaugh working with Robert day to day. If he’s going to blame anybody, it should be Snyder. Both Jay and Robert would have looked a lot better without being exposed to the reverse car wash.
