  1. No, we need to go to therapy! I don't know much but I do know defensive players are aggressive by nature. I feel JDR needs to unleash the hounds more often than he does - toss em a bone and maybe get a turnover or 2. I get it - we need to be disciplined but they can do so when being allowed to attack at the LOS. Discipline = reading = overthinking = playing slow. We did face good QBs to start the year but he just seems to be coaching scared of the offenses we are facing, when one could argue those same offenses should be scared of our defense. And I think we saw that in week 1 with LAC not running on first down, quick passing instead. Week 2, with the G running Daniel Jones like a college QB. Throwing curveballs at us knowing if they play traditional and conservative run run short pass - that will equal punt. Teams were unpredictable yet our defense looked painfully predictable. Every single 3rd and long we rush 4 in their lanes and play zone. It's just far too easy for OL and offenses alike. One of the core elements of the game is unpredictability yet it seems like JDR is still expecting an 80 year old conservative OC to call a drive conceding draw on every 3rd and long. Offenses are more unpredictable yet our defense appears more predictable than ever to these eyes. I hate hearing announcers on 3rd and long - oh there is no play in the book for that!!1! Bull**** chuck it deep and try.
  2. People complaining about our LBs. Know that LBs are heavily targeted by OCs and exploited. But JDR is exacerbating their weaknesses by having them read as much as they do. LBs by their nature are aggressive and it may mitigate their weaknesses to just roll the dice and let them attack the ****ing ball sometimes. At least we'll have a greater chance of forcing a turnover vs waiting for a bad throw that rarely happens in the modern game. Let the LBs attack do some stunts with our all world DL. Try the Dallas play where a blitzer doesnt go after the QB, they attack an OT and free up his assignment. Dictate to offenses a few times a game dammit. Instead we are on our heels. My heads going to explode if we rush 4 all day and get curb stomped next week. I suspect JDR will only change when we are 3-8. if our LBs are at the core at what ails our D, its very disconcerting to have LB coaches yet they cannot find good LBs, nor use them effectively.
  3. i remember some pressure early. Daron and Allen totaled 3 hits on Allen. I would like to see how many pressures we had. I cannot recall Allen even getting knocked down of course 0 sacks. I get what you are saying and our guys are studs but they were completely ineffective in stopping the Bills offense today. It's think JDR had a horrible game plan allowing long drives that had our offense ice cold.
  4. I think its safe to say he is great against rush 4 zone as well. Blitzing is risky as hell but when you see the D getting schooled I think a DC has to roll the dice and burn the game plan by mid 2nd quarter or whatever. 1st quarter. Dialup the heat down 21 and try for a turnover, something different is worth a try. The key? You just cannot be predictable and expect to do well, whatever approach a DC takes.
  5. Didnt we make the playoffs the year he started bringing the heat after we sucked ass in passive D for the first 8 weeks? IIRC it started by attacking the Rookie Wentz and we went on a run to make the loffs. Yes, with Madieu at safety. We let him attack vs read and get abused.
  6. I think we need to roll the dice bring the heat and play tight man. Its a death sentence to rush 4 and be in zone game in and game out. If I had a dollar for every time i heard someone say we have to sustain a drive on offense to let our defense rest... here is a little secret. We are gassing our own D with an un-aggressive approach on D as teams just drive up and down the field all day on us. Even though I contend these guys dont need rest. The kicker on an aggressive D - if we get burned on a big play our D remains fresh to live another day if fatigue determines wins and losses. Dont attack aggressively all day but at least show it and back off... have we even made a QB have to call out a blitz pickup once this year? We know we havent made them audible since they know the D they will face. The Team D from 1975. I could copy paste this post pretty much after every loss from all but the Haslet years.
  7. Then he should consider a career change. the defensive game plan was a failure and 3rd downs have been a failure all year. It starts with the "we are so good up front we can get pressure from 4" approach that is so vanilla 1970. Our blitzing is lame when we finally do it as its basically bring one delayed once every 10 plays.
  8. Rookie QBs carved us as well facing similar vanilla defenses that spanned more than a decade.
  9. Its far too easy to game plan for our JDR D. Exactly like it was with Lynn Blache and even Lewis. Same vanilla bend dont break approach every week and it never led to playoff games, sacks nor turnovers. Yet sticking to the failed plan was the plan and it was hard to watch. Is hard to watch. Remember how rookie QBs had no trouble beating us? Vanilla no pressure D = failure.
  10. Passing on first down = warrants all out jail break Allen blitz
  11. RR not punting? Happy to see he isn't conceding games like he did last year.
  12. ****ty spot review will fail of course refs hate spots being questioned
  13. Kinda always hate punt returners that wave off blockers on short kicks. Haul ass up there and fair catch those!
  14. I am impressed with the stubbornness by JDR to refuse to adjust. Look at that we brought 2 and got in incompletion.
  15. Yep. Whats disturbing indeed is he already decided before the game his game plan was THE plan and is refusing to adjust. Its just far to easy to block 4 with 5 without even attempting to confuse the QB or OL pre snap.
  16. I was just typing I am surprised there was no holding call and BAM
  17. JDR is coaching scared of Buffalo's offense all zone and nary a blitz and its failing miserably
  18. 29 for 36... why not bring the house. bringing a predictable 5th every 10 plays isn't doing anything. This is just like the Blache days
