  1. Thanks for sharing the Smootinsights. I would like to think a DC would recognize when there is a problem (which is about right now with pass 4TDs allowed the new norm) and give those unable to develop chemistry in the 4+ months of camp, more individual assignments that don't require chemistry. It can't get much worse than this, unless we allow passing 5TD next week. Heh watch KC post 6. Our DBs are going to get shellacked vs KC unless we get containment and pressure on Mahomes. JDR will coach scared of Hill deep and let Mahomes pick apart the leagues worst zone.
  2. BFS speaks the truth. It's been a problem forever here. Every year we hear at how the new DC is going to be aggressive, and really get after the QB. All lies every damn time. Reality - we hear every year about how our D is toying with one of the following "records". Historic records folks. Most 99 yd drives allowed in one season. And decade (my fav) Most yards surrendered on 1st down (9 - yay Ron Lynn) Most 3rd and 10s allowed to convert. Most 3rd and 15s allowed to convert. Most consecutive losses to rookie QBs Worst 3rd down conversion rates Most consecutive games giving up 4TD passes There are a lot more.
  3. Yep. I saw a 3rd down pass on Sun or Monday night, and the corner came clean and the QB quickly threw the ball away. Punt. I have a little theory. If your corner can't cover for crap, blitz his ass early and often. Meanwhile, I am convinced a QB has not had to audible on our D even one time this year. We show and do very little presnap so we don't force ANY mistakes. Yet despite being static in our presnap look WE are the ones that appear to make mistake after mistake. I am convinced the play calling is just terrible overall but can't tell what was a mistake as a fan. We may show 1 guy that may blitz, but usually run him back past the FDM to get the tackle after the completion.
  4. I keep hearing that and don't doubt it for a minute. Maybe we thought we could coach em up. In the end that's on our GM if they are atrocious fits. Whoever that really is. We have talent every team does. I keep blaming JDR/coaching and what they are asking of the D players/play calls.
  5. Is it obvious on paper that our DBs are atrocious compared to other teams? Are we 29th of 32 or ? I don't know if its true but suspect every team has a solid core of knowledgeable fans that hates one of their free or strongs. Or both.
  6. I call Bullocks on the new faces. Same HC same DC largely the same core... Defense is much easier than offense, and every year we see DBs we never heard of playing late in the year and doing just fine. If a coach is giving an overly complex scheme to new players, they screwed up, not the player. If new faces was that clear cut, it would be easy to see WRT modern day advanced stats.DB turnover = losses... I don't buy it. Its whats being asked of those same players.
  7. Good post. Not necessarily directed to you, but it often seems like we have one of tougher schedules more often than not.... Its almost like the NFL is penalizing us haha. I will be the salmon swimming up stream and predict that we win 2 of our next 4 games but it'll require JDR unleashing the hounds. A hound dog is no good when they can't attack. Rodgers hates his team more than we hate our owner. Broncos are garbage we crushed them in the orange bowl. KC is limping in Clyde is out and Hill is ailing a bit. Tampa will mob us but we hung tough last year. But I always refer back to our glorious win over the rookie Foles - we were in the crapper 3-6 IIRC and attacked a rookie QB FINALLY and ended that decade long nightmare of losing to rookies. We attacked at the LOS from the drop of the puck and it turned our season around and sure enough we made the loffs. Get this. With Madieu Williams at FS - we let him attack instead of just getting singled out every game. Go Caps
  8. RR regrets winning... no surprises there since we all saw him in plain sight giving up on games long before they were over last year. While we wonder why our stadium is empty. It needs to be said. Washington sucks at getting QBs and at the root of that is Dan Snyder. RR needed to get a QB and he went with the cheap short term solution, which points to rebuilding still kicking the can down the road to next year. I think we are seeing him trying to make it look like he is only trying to win, but then actually winning a few games and expectation to do so, is tearing him up upside. The modern day NFL tank job for a draft pick is best done by calling a lame ass soft zone defense. I am starting to think JDR is doing his dirty work and trying to lose on the DL. No pun intended. I think Ron wants to lose again. Its a little game coaches on ****ty teams have to play every year but the NFL execs don't want them to. Other sports like hockey they just gut their rosters at the trade deadline and do it in plain view. The big problem is we aren't as bad a team as he thinks we are. Heiny is better than the guy Dan would make RR draft next year. A few injuries or great game plans and those teams he is afraid of, aren't so tough. QBs are getting hit. I suspect Ron is probably going to eventually say duck it like he did last year and try to win games again. It may be time to pickup WAS D fantasy owners.
  9. The league is a business and our pathetic franchise is still a big part of that business model. Cowboys vs I_d_a_s was at the core of their marketing plan for decades. But now, they don't want Dan's nightmare and don't know what to do other than pretend like it all didn't happen and bury it all. Dan must have some dirt on this workmates so they settled on a name change for him to remain in power. We cannot move past it until we can see the Wilkinson Report and any others, and we get a new name. So until then we are a faceless franchise no one wants. One so inept, that we cannot even rename ourselves in a timely manner. We may have the worst marketing PR department in the history of professional sports. Can anyone name one worse? Our stadium is overrun with out of town fans every ****ing week which may be the ultimate proof. When can we grade how our new team president is doing.
  10. Since when do we ever hear about email recipients when a coach resigns? Bruce ****ing Allen. Can you imagine all the crap buried in the Wilkinson report? I can't believe he has survived.
  11. Rivera adamantly says there wont be a change in defensive game planning We are going to get ****ing shellacked next week. Maybe the next 3 weeks. 4TDs allowed to QB 3 straights weeks is getting damn close to another one of those disturbing futility records we like to toy around with. Only 4 times in league history. Dare I think we will shatter this record. But hey we didn't hear about any 3rd and long records yesterday. Loyalty to JDR seems a priority to RR.
  12. It was this time last year I questioned RR even wanting to win. He tapped out earlier in games that I have maybe ever seen. Threw in the towel. Conceded when other teams were pulling off comebacks of the same score deficit or worse. Punted without trying his best to win. Now, he may have been tanking for a draft pick and I have seen other coaches try not to win, but never multiple times early in a season, and even worse in a wide open division. We had no chance blah blah but funny we actually hung tough with the king in the playoffs using a 4th string QB.
  13. Why is Landon put in the position to cover a speed guy deep 1 on 1? But it sure looked like it was a blown coverage to me. I get it, we all assume it was his man because he was closest, and is the current whipping post regardless. So PFF says it's all his fault. But I have a little theory, sometimes its a guy fault that was farther from the ball, and the guy trying to bail him out gets all the fans ire. It's like when we would go cover 2 with Carlos the Jackal Cushion who would always drop off to cover no one in his short zone, and dump DJax full speed on our LB masquerading as a free safety. None other than Laron Landry. Landry sucks!!!!1! Wait, was it really Landry's fault that he couldn't keep up with DeSean ****ing Jackson?
  14. Its funny seeing all the disagreement after losses. We are surly! It's not elaborate. it was the wrong call and the players were out of position the entire play and just doing what the coaches asked of them. I will stick to my guns. The defensive play call was not one to defend a hail mary nor a team looking to move a little closer into FG range. We needed to be in dime/umbrellla/shell to protect the sidelines / deep. What that one still didnt show is most our players (Landon aside prob) were still stopping on a dime and didnt have time to jump. They were not in position because they ALL had to sprint 50 yards to be in the hood. I really don't even know what that defensive play call was. Cover "Nun" chase-n-run? Nun hail mary get it laughter turns to tears what a debacle. Hearing saints fans cheering their D is not a good look for this sad franchise. It seems ALL out of town fans are traveling fans when facing our STILL nameless and faceless franchise. It's no longer just Pitt and their smelly ass jizz rag towels or those pesky Buffablowholians. And why don't we have a ****ing name yet? Cleveland is no longer the laughing stock. We are.
  15. All the D players know how to play otherwise they aren't on the field. Its all about coaching and I think he is overloading their plates with far too much complexity, is not using the players to their collective strengths, or is living in the past expecting a draw on every 3rd and long. Other teams have tall players standing in the endzone - jumping is damn easy at that point. As a DB in chase mode, jumping is a PI waiting to happen ok but one that never gets called. Its a lot easier to bat down a ball facing the play, not away from it, And not running at full speed. I think JDR was expecting a short yardage get into FG range playcall and got caught with his pants down overly aggressively trying to stop that play. Winston probably couldn't believe our D presnap!
  16. 100% angst and Kenny Stills here. We have seen issues from week 1 first quarter - JDR is terrible and blaming the back 7 is getting as old as blaming the front 4. 1 DB getting chased by 3 WRs. What is 23 doing? Curl not much better - in solid position for a PI if they ever called those. Can't blame Landon too much as he clearly ignored the horrid play call and tried to get into position. No one in the end zone, really? 4 on 4 with 2 teams out of the play completely. The only DB that we had near the endzone McCain, is not even in the play. He was clearly told to man the center of the field. No team even jumped because they didnt have enough time to get into position to jump from all the chasing. Collins seemed very focused in on getting credited with a tackle. This is 100% on coaching its a microcosm of all that has failed us all year. If there weren't best buds I would expect JDR to get fired today.
  17. Has anyone ever seen an obvious hail mary situation and all the DBs are chasing all the WRs to the endzone? If I were RR I would make all the coaches watch that clip over and over until there is a resignation. I assume that was JDRs swinging gate moment trying to get fired. I'll look for some Kenny Stills.
  18. You are reaching he is the same coach he always was. We just got wrecked with injuries including his QB in week 1. JDR is the one that doesn't have it anymore. I challenge anyone to find a hail mary when every defensive player is chasing offensive players down the field. Its up there with Swinging Gate I assume he is trying to get fired to get the hell away from Mrs Snyder and friends.
  19. They are actually saying BOOOOOO ****ing aye we suck
  20. I really think they are not being used to their strengths.
  21. So awkward seeing teams aggressively go on 4th downs when decades ago no coach would go for any of them
  22. If JDR goes soft zone on any 3rd and long the laptop goes out the window
